  1. What inside info do you know that we don’t to say it so definitively?
  2. I no longer take this team seriously when there is not a realistic option on the bench better than Jake Cave to pinch hit in the most crucial moment in a game. Even the Dodgers would be struggling at the position if they were down to their 8th OF on the depth chart. That’s the current reality with the Twins. People suggesting to call up someone else are grasping at straws. The only option that would help the team right now is Larnach returning from injury.
  3. Sadly I think this is the week that will sink the season. There’s no signs at all that the offense will string together timely hits. This week has a high likelihood of ending 1-6 or 0-7.
  4. The Twins have certainly been missing an ingredient since the bomba squad 2019 season. I don’t know if it’s the coaching staff, overall talent, or the core players who have been here forever. The lack of clutch hitting, streakiness of players, and ying/yang between pitching and hitting has been present for years before this season.
  5. The current week is going to be tough to watch. Especially if the stars Buxton and Correa continue to flatline. It’s getting to be time to enjoy the last part of summer here in Minnesota and put the Twins on the back burner.
  6. I assume this article is about growing the game as a whole, not just Twins ticket sales. So back on track. The more content creators there are for baseball, the better. Maybe we should check in the with @Tom Froemming to see how he’s been tracking with his YouTube channel about the Twins.
  7. It’s well known ticket sales lag a year behind so no surprise that ticket sales have slumped after an 89 loss season in 2021. They could still recoup walk up sales and monthly pass sales by marketing it better.
  8. I’ve heard John Bonnes talk about that monthly pass on KFAN. Had no idea it existed. Twins PR/Marketing should have made more people aware of the option.
  9. It won’t boost the sport overnight, but it won’t hurt it either. People like Jomboy Media and Pitching Ninja have done great things to promote the sport to younger people.
  10. It all starts with the stars of the team, Buxton and Correa. Another 1.000 OPS month out of Buxton would go a long way towards winning the division. Correa’s only had 1 super star caliber month this season. The pitching and offense need to compliment each other like they did in May. Way too often the last 2.5 months good pitching is offset by a stifled offense, and vice versa.
  11. Nice to see that MLB is actively trying to build a network of content creators to grow the game. There’s a better chance kids will get exposure to the game scrolling through Tik Tok videos than on TV.
  12. Idk about you but 85% of the YouTube TV channels are crap I’d never watch.
  13. You’re getting a steal. And please let me know how you got that. The 4K package is currently $19.99 a month
  14. I agree, the Twins are in a good position to take on a risky investment such as a top of the rotation arm. I’d have no problem giving Verlander or DeGrom $40+ million on a short term deal. We can also look creatively in the trade market taking on a large expiring contract from teams looking to shed costs. Such as Yu Darvish, Blake Snell, Zach Wheeler, etc. To answer the question can you think of a better place to invest given the # of pre-arb players on roster, I still think SS is the answer. Royce Lewis looked promising, but it is a very small sample size of 41 MLB PAs, 153 AAA PAs. I think the team would be much better depth wise if Lewis came back as a super utility playing CF when Buxton requires time off, 3B if Miranda needs a day off or shuffles to 1B, even the corner OF spots. It’s a big risk to rely on him as the every day SS. If Correa gets red hot in September, he’ll certainly opt out. If he remains a sub .800 OPS player, that’s a toss up… Boras may suggest opting back in for $35 mill and try their luck for a big contract after the 2023 season. Beyond SS, a large investment could be made at C if we’re interested, and perhaps an upgrade in RF over Kepler.
  15. I believe you’ve compiled years of data that highlight how poor of an investment free agent pitching is. So I am shocked, frankly, that you’re suggesting to do so.
  16. Chris Archer also has a mutual option for $10 million next season. I’m sure he’d love to get paid that much to “start” for 3-4 innings, but he’ll likely be out too. With minimal progression from the pitching prospects, we’ll be in the market for 2 or 3 starters again this winter.
  17. Watched part of the Vikings preseason game and went grocery shopping instead of watching the Twins. Sweet corn in Minnesota right now is top notch ? If Kepler is still trying to play through a broken toe, he is not doing anyone any favors by doing so. If he’s healthy, we’ve got much bigger issues. I was thinking before it’d be fun to attend another game at TF during this unprecedented home stretch of games. Now, it doesn’t seem to be worth the trouble.
  18. The Twins team I witnessed with excitement and optimism in April and May feels like a distant memory now. They’re just not fun to watch these days. I don’t know if Kepler is still hurt or what, because he’s been awful with the bat. Concur with @Aggies7there should be a major shakeup with the supporting coaching staff after the season.
  19. I’m all caught up on Better Call Saul before the series finale on Monday. They really kicked things into gear during the last season which I appreciate. I think previously they were slow playing Jimmy McGill’s transition to Saul Goodman too much. The writers have been excellent dripping in Breaking Bad nuggets, and Kim Wexler is an excellent character in the show.
  20. What pending free agents? Carlos Correa? @USAFChiefmentioned the sobering fact that unless you want Contreras, there’s no better catchers available in free agency. So I don’t see any issue slightly over paying a SS like Correa now and next year if he decides to opt in to the 2nd $35 million year.
  21. Other positions… where exactly? They’re basically set everywhere except catcher and DH. Free agent pitching is one of the worst ROI in sports.
  22. I think you missed the obvious choice… they’ve missed Maeda the most this season. He would have been very helpful as a top of the rotation arm.
  23. Maybe I’m just drunk on all of this positive Twins news today, but I’d love to see what the “rival official” thinks now… The Twins addressed their major flaws; Chicago and Cleveland did nothing.
  24. Today has already exceeded my expectations. Nice work! Hopefully more still to come.
