  1. Berrios does not have to be protected, as he is ineligible for Rule V. If the Twins want to add him to the roster(s) later, he can be promoted at that time.
  2. I believe you counted Boyer in both FA and non-tender candidates. IMO another potential cut could be JR Graham, who may not be worth protecting ahead of other prospects. My choices for protection would be Adam Brett Walker, JT Chargois, Taylor Rogers, Zach Jones, Engelb Vielma, Felix Jorge, Mason Meloutakis and Luke Bard.
  3. Andy could make Schertzer and Strasburg "pitch to contact" guys. No more embarassments like Schertzer's performance yesterday! And Gardy might get Baracksie, Trumpsie and Congress to battle their tails off!
  4. "Whaddya think-- Gardy to the Nats?" That is a fantastic trade for the Twins!
  5. If I were to shave my head and disguise myself as Terry Ryan, I would do the following prior to RuleV draft: 1) Remove from the 40-man: Thompson, Darnell, Robinson, Graham, O'Rourke and Fryer. 2) Do NOT sign FA's Hunter, Cotts, Pelfrey and Duensing. 3) Add to the 40-man: Adam Brett Walker, JT Chargois, Taylor Rogers, Zack Jones, Engelb Vielma, Mason Meloutakis, Luke Bard and Felix Jorge. 4) Don't pick anyone in MLB portion of RuleV draft.
  6. I agree. Adding the usual caveats to the fantasy trading game is just a reminder of the fantasy-reality gap. IMO, no harm, no foul.
  7. "I think trading Dozier is a bad idea. Yeah, his value isn't higher than it's going to be, but there isn't a replacement in house that will come close to his production". An outside-the-box replacement for Dozier would be Rosario who was being converted to a second-baseman, until the Twins determined that his promotion possibilities at 2B would be blocked by Dozier. That would open up a spot for in the OF for Kepler, Adam Brett Walker, Arcia or Torii.
  8. Maybe with more in the Dozier package. Big time pitchers are worth more than a .250 hitting second baseman, and two AA prospects. Plus the Mets are by NO means in a rebuilding mode, so they probably wouldn't give up good starting pitchers for prospects.
  9. IMO, you are WAY over-optimistic with the 0.001% chance! But if Larry the Cable Guy become the Mets GM and he say OK, RUN WITH IT!! But first plead guilty of larceny in order to get your sentence reduced.
  10. My snarky Nolasco comment was in no way based on "the other night"! It was based on 2014 and April-May, 2015. The fact that he hadn't pitched SINCE then, was a major reason for the Twins' success this season. Was that too snarky?
  11. Nolasco will only pitch two innings also......but for a difference reason.....infielder safety.
  12. The leather cover on the baseball is now usually made of cowhide, not horsehide.
  13. That should take Buehrle about three minutes.
  14. Non-tenders, DFA's and FA's make up a finite number of known names to talk about. Potential trades make up a very large number of possibilities (or IM-possibilities if one of the two "potentially interested teams" is NOT interested). No probem. I just have difficulty dealing with a large # of unlikely hypotheticals.
  15. American "Barbershop" quartets NOW bring to mind "Ice Cube and three Fooos" in the movie!
  16. Is your photo of the barbershop quartet unfocused, or have my concussion symptoms come back?
  17. No hablo ingles!
  18. Nah, silence is not necessary, nor even possible. There is considerable wiggle-room between silence and Thundersticks/vuvuzelas. I am totally OK with crowd noise which is NOT "enhanced" to the level of unbearable pain.
  19. Hello darkness, my old friend, I've come to talk with you again, Because a vision softly creeping, Left its seeds while I was sleeping, And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence. In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone, 'Neath the halo of a street lamp, I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence. And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more. People talking without speaking, People hearing without listening, People writing songs that voices never share And no one dared Disturb the sound of silence. "Fools," said I, "You do not know. Silence like a cancer grows. Hear my words that I might teach you. Take my arms that I might reach you." But my words like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made. And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming. And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls And tenement halls And whispered in the sounds of silence."
  20. Not OK. I like "The Sound of Silence".

  22. Kohl Stewart? ...RATS! Matt Batts had better stats! That is my poetry contribution!
  23. "my wife and I came up with a FSNorth drinking game. We took a drink every time Bert said one of his cliches (at the major league level, CA HS math, SHE-cago, You are hereby circled, downward plane, etc). It can get bad fast". Try this one........If Tim Laudner is announcing, take a drink every time he says: "and you know what?"......yadda-yadda OR "and guess what?".....yadda-yadda I GUARANTEE that your blood alcohol level will exceed your checkbook balance before the game ends.
  24. Neither should Joe West's existence!
  25. Thunder-sticks, cow bells, air-horns, beach balls, DUH WAVE, Rally Monkeys; organists who only know three tunes; all other organists; mascots, drunk and obnoxious neighboring fans.....
