  1. Neither should be in the booth. Blyleven should be Molitor's pitching coach, and Bremer should be unemployed.
  2. People get so bent out of shape over batting order, like its an art or something, when its pretty simple. Mauer is your best OB guy. Bat him leadoff. So what if he cant steal a base? Then put your best hitters at the top of the order and your worst hitters at the bottom of the order. Its a simple game, and we over-analyze it to death.
  3. Drop hicks to 9th and bat mauer leadoff. Problem solved.
  4. The main argument was against the people whining that correia shouldnt have even come out for the 8th. And the more i think about it, especially after just hearing gardy with dubay, i could go either way on leaving him in with a runner in 3rd.

  5. Because its the Twins
  6. OK, my bad. I was thinking leadoff single, then run scoring triple. I still bring out Correia for the 8th, but yes, with a lead, runner on 3rd, and 1 out, I would have pulled Correia.
  7. Definitely not allowed. You're probably going to be banned.
  8. If my memory serves me correctly, the triple tied the game, right? Tie game, runner on 3rd, nobody out. Sorry, but that run is scoring no matter who's pitching.
  9. Oh, you're so clever!
  10. I absolutely reserve the right to tell anyone disagreeing with me on this issue to "learn the game". The Gardenhire hate for leaving Correia in is ridiculous. It was clearly the right move. Anyone thinking otherwise is simply clueless. Correia was in complete control. It was his game. Let him win it or lose it himself. Any pitcher worth his weight wants the ball in that situation. Pulling him would have been ridiculous. Nothing is more destructive to a team than pulling a pitcher when he's still pitching strong and having it blown by the bullpen. Stop the Gardenhire hating. He has his faults, but leaving Correia in isn't one of them!
  11. I love how this thread has turned into petty bickering. So much for the rave reviews I've heard about TD. Rather than focus on the topic, we got people crying that I said "learn the game". Don't be such babies!
  12. How many more games before Hicks gets sent down?
  13. Any particular reason for gardy to start emptying the bullpen? Could have just as well let roenicke finish the game. If he's a long man use him like a long man's supposed to be used.
  14. Nine games in, and this team is a certified embarassment.
  15. None of it matters. It was correia's game. If he fails, he'll learn from it and be better off in the long run. I'll go with a guy like Kaat who i'm sure would say gardy was right to leave him in. Just because it didnt work doesnt mean it was the wrong decision.
  16. What the hell is that supposed to mean.
  17. To all the people whining Gardy didn't pull him after 7 innings......... learn the game! For goodness sake, he was pitching a shutout and his pitch count was low 80's. He was in cruise control. I'm all for letting these starters go late into the game. I recently read a Jim Kaat interview. He talked about the importance of letting these guys pitch late into games. Let your starters work through some late inning jams. It builds mental and physical toughness. This makes them better pitchers in the long run. It's good to leave these guys in to battle through tough situations rather than yank them the first sign of trouble. With Baker, Blackburn, Slowey, etc, how many times over the years could you almost sense them wanting out when they knew they were at their pitch limit. They were weaklings, but they were conditioned to be that way. It was Correia's game. Let him win or lose it himself. Save the bullpen when you can.
  18. I'd guess Diamond for Hendriks, unless De Vries is hurt. Swarzak can stay in the minors until someone fails or gets hurt. Roenicke has struggled a little, but he should get more of a chance. IMO Swarzak should now have to wait his turn.
  19. Jeepers, don't give up on Parmelee yet! I'm very happy he has something to build on now with his last atbat yesterday. It lifted alot of pressure off his shoulders. I'd actually be happy with Ramirez playing RF against leftys. Parms would still get the majority of atbats.
  20. I'm more than happy to ride it out with this kid if he struggles this year. We're rebuilding. I became weary of Span's shenanigans. He was always hurt, and a slow healer on top of it. Then he chickened out on the MRI and I pretty much was ready to move on from him. I thought his outfield defense was overrated too. Now counting down 3-2-1 until someone throws a defensive statistic at me to prove how good he was..............
  21. I know very little about Escobar, although I've heard Nick Punto comparisons. Is he another Nick Punto?
  22. In terms of HOF, the next five years will decide. If he has five more 2012's, obviously he's in. If you mix in a couple more 2011's, I'm not so sure.
  23. Don't knock an old timer for calling himself old school. Being old school is not a bad thing. I will admit the Willingham comparison was eye opening to me. You win. All in all, what I'd really love to see from Joe is to mash a few more gappers into the RF/CF gap a little more often.
