  1. "Spot" is very optimistic. More like zones.
  2. Clearly it was a good decision. Meyers has such great stuff, but his mechanics seems deplorable.
  3. I want Meyers to mow em down so I can post this:
  4. What a cracker box. Down the line 315 ft. in Left Field and 326 in Right Field. And ... an ugly roof. Glad for all them Houstoners.
  5. Consecutive games reaching base: 84 – Ted Williams, Boston Red Sox – July 1 through September 27, 1949.
  6. David HK wrote, "I know it's early in the season ..." and that got me thinking ... What time of the season is it, really? I did a quick calculation ... 16% of the season is finished ... the life expectancy of a U.S. citizen is 79 years ... What is 16% of 79 years? Answer: 12.6 ... So ... ... The season is a 7th grade student. In other words, The Twins are just entering puberty, have zits, find it hard to concentrate, need a girl/boyfriend REALLY bad, and can't talk to their parents (The Front Office, I guess). You can fill in the rest. All I know there are many years ahead to look forward to before this season falls over dead in the living room of a heart attack, or by some wild chance, gets a full body and brain replacement and goes the distance to the Playoffs.
  7. You're like a chess player, always one step ahead. Yes, no one there to bat first or second but those who are batting first and second, so sad, so true.
  8. I thought the same thing, but I think it's because of the dreaded SSS, apparently he has hit the ball weakly. But overall, BABIP doesn't seem as scientific as some other stats. It's a measurement, pure and simple; make of it what you will.
  9. I agree with those who say Murphy has to be given a chance to perform. He is only 24 and he rode the bench in NY or was shuttled back and forth to the minors for 3 years. He has just over 300 major league plate appearances, that is all. Defensively, I wouldn't mind if someone reported on scouting reports. I was able to find two quotes from a year ago when he was a Yankee: "He appeared adept defensively which made up for any of his offensive shortcomings. As a reserve catcher, that’s about all one can ask for." Pinstripepundits.com and " ... He's better defensively, with a plus arm and at least average defensive skills. Some scouts still see some aspects of defense for him to work on, but indications from the analytical folks are that he’s an above average framer, so if that holds up and he reaches his offensive upside, there could be an everyday catcher here." Fangraphs.
  10. If we had traded him in 2014, who would have caught?
  11. If ever there was a time to strike out intentionnally - or squeeze! - it would be now with Suzuki up.
  12. I woke up with an aching funny bone about a week ago. I had an MRI done on it, but they found nothing, so I'm having another one done on it on Monday.
  13. Tell them you died, see if that works.
  14. "You know what they say about bein’ nice to the right people on the way up Sooner or later you gonna meet them comin’ down" Foot of Pride, Bob Dylan Interpret as you please.
  15. I am wondering about the positions Park played defensively in Korea, and all I have been able to find is this quote from SB Nation: "Defensively, Park is relatively low on the spectrum. While he spent a lot of time doing drills at third base in 2015 and is likely to expand his defensive utility, Park is still primarily a first baseman or DH." No outfield experience at all, apparently. If anybody knows more, please share.
  16. I wrote this yesterday in the thread but I want to repeat it. Dozier, being the pull-hitter he is (and he's not about to suddenly change), should be hitting 7th in the order. We have a very powerful lineup in teh middle that, once they get clicking, are going to do serious damage. I see Dozier's skills working after those big hitters, because that what he essentially is. But then who on this team is capable of being an actual table-setter, ala Tovar, Knoblauch, Carew, etc.? They gave Nunuz a shot and he did well for awhile, now they're giving Santana a shot and he's doing well. But is Polanco the answer down the road? This is this third cup of coffee, for christ's sake, I would like to see him penciled in at #1 or #2 on a half-time basis, as least. Give Dozier/Nunez a day off here and there. We are 7-15 after all.
  17. I wasn't thinking the same thing but I agree
  18. Arcia has now struck out in 42.5% of his plate appearances this season.
  19. Dozier, Mauer, Sano, Park, Arcia = a Miniature Murderers Row. (I would bat Dozier after them, though - someone with a better OBP should bat second.)
  20. What was the complaint before? Oh, that no one is ever on base when Park hits a home run. Well ...
  21. Until you added that, I didn't think you were telling the truth.
  22. When Nunez is asked about the helmet, he just laughs. It’s a problem he had during his four seasons with the New York Yankees, and it’s followed him to Minnesota. It wasn’t an issue in the minor leagues, he said, perhaps due to what he said were heavier helmets. Were the helmets really heavier? Or was it that just that minor league Nunez had nothing to hide? The Twins have tried adding extra padding inside Nunez’s helmet, to no avail. “It still fell off,” Nunez said, twirling an imaginary mustache. “I don’t know what’s going on.” “We’re all like, ‘Here it goes! Here it goes!’” Brian Dozier said, describing the gullible dugout’s anticipation. “We’re waiting for it.” "Baseball’s Secret Scandal: The Player Who Hits Popups on Purpose." Grantland.com.
