  1. As most of you probably know, I am a conservative. However, it still angers me the way so many conservatives act like maniacs about this and other similar things. It is in fact a bit of a disgrace since they're making a bad name for all conservatives, as people like to stereotype groups of people with the worst examples they know of. I'll even do that right now and say that the conservatives in question think that their behavior is all for a great cause and those who don't want to stand up with them have serious problems, while in fact the only serious thing about it is that they're embarrassing. So let it be known that while we may not agree politically, I'm not going to lambaste you with my beliefs and shout from the rooftops that the nation is destined to hell (well, to tell the truth it either A) isn't or was a long time before gay rights became a political issue). Go ahead and stereotype conservatives if you want, but leave me out of the group that slams homosexuals ... and try not to be surprised that there are decent conservatives out there. That really is like the conservative who is shocked to hear that there are gay men who haven't abused little boys.
  2. If we wouldn't have made had it not been for those 48 home runs Torii blasted out of the park during the regular season - oh, and that .313 batting average certainly helped, too ... and the extension which led to another great season in 2016.
  3. An overdue update for Todd Van Steensel: W: 1 L: 2 ERA: 1.87 G: 25 SV: 8 SVO: 10 IP: 43.1 H: 29 R: 9 ER: 9 HR: 2 HB: 2 BB: 20 IBB: 3 SO: 60 AVG: .193 WHIP: 1.13 GO/AO: 0.70 Van Steensel took the mound for the South Division in the Florida State League All Star Game | photo by Bryan Green via Flickr
  4. I have not lived up to my own standards of posting for each and every pitching performance lately. DJ Baxendale has made at least one start since I last updated in which he didn't go very deep. I'm sure they'll work him in slowly. His stats for the year are as follows: W: 3 L: 1 ERA: 3.31 G: 11 GS: 10 IP: 54.1 H: 55 R: 20 ER: 20 HR: 3 HB: 0 BB: 20 IBB: 0 SO: 50 AVG: .261 WHIP: 1.38 GO/AO: 1:20 You know, there are pros to skipping out on my duties. I'd been so busy updating game by game that I'd overlooked the big picture, but I'm glad that I was forced to take the time to step back and check out his MiLB page since it reminded me of what a good season he's having. I am very pleased with his control thus far.

  6. A couple of days ago I said that my favorite non-Twin is Morneau, but as he's currently DL'd and I want him to retire before he kills himself, I decided to give this topic some more serious thought and settled with Brandon Phillips. He's a guy you just can't help but love, really, and he's the Prince of Swag. (Though Andrew McCutchen is definitely an honorable mention.) http://mlb.mlb.com/images/2/4/0/132984240/062515_cin_pit_phillips_hr_med_in8japcz.gif
  7. I couldn't agree more. While you are not Christian, I am ... but like you, I've had it with this "Christian" thing in politics. I might get it a little from my brother for saying that.
  8. Why then, the solution is quite simple. Alex Meyer is not done yet: pull the fork back out Hopefully this procedure doesn't result in him joining Buxton on the DL.
  9. Brouhaha: an episode involving excitement, confusion, turmoil, etc., especially a broil over a minor or ridiculous cause: A brouhaha by the baseball players resulted in three black eyes.
  10. Here is your first update on Tyler Jay! Fort Myers hosted the Charlotte Stone Crabs for the final game and potential sweep of a 2 game series. The Miracle took an early lead on a bases clearing double in the 1st by Mitch Garver, but that was all they were able to get until they tied up the game in the 9th inning and went on to walk it off in the 15th with a bases loaded walk. The win extended the Miracle's winning streak to 9. Tyler Jay came on in the 8th inning when the Miracle were down 4-3. The first batter he faced hit the ball to left field for a double, but he sent the next 3 batters down in order, picking up his first professional strikeout. He was replaced in the 9th inning by Todd Van Steensel.
  11. No ... and that's what's going to make it all the more enjoyable when you finally realize that there is.

  13. First off, I do not have a problem with you. I'm pretty sure that in my previous post I made it more than clear that I believe you have a valid point, but as people seem to be skimming over what ChiTown has said (thereby forcing her to repeat herself over ... and over ... again), maybe you just missed that part. If it isn't there, it's here. Also, I enjoy the threads you start. They make me laugh. And in truth, since you start a lot of threads in jest, I think you should expect to get some responses of the same spirit. Hm ... maybe she just doesn't want to find out what a StonedVodkaDave is like.
  14. In Always33's dreams: Visits TD. Clicks on "Questions About MinnCentric." Clicks "Start New Topic." Topic Title: You guys are being too tolerant Topic Tags: SpiritofVodkaDave Content: Everybody loves Dave. He's a fun guy and he makes people remember that it's important to think before they act - especially people in positions of authority. That's really good since you don't want people who have positions of authority over TD to get out of control like the people who have positions of authority over this country have. He loves to start new topics on TD, and that's great because what would we talk about without topics to talk in? I'll admit he is accused at times of being a bit trigger-friendly when it comes to this, but we're a friendly group and put up with him because in fact he's better than a lot of people - otherwise he wouldn't have survived TD as well as he has. (What, was it 5 times obvious aliases of his have been blocked when I looked up the keyword "Vodka" under the TD "People" page? That shows just how patient he is with moderators' shenanigans.) I have but one complaint about Dave. He has a tendency to be overly critical of high up people on TD - people who I respect and don't want to see being criticized for their hard and sacrificial work. I hope that if he realized that he's just making their hard work harder he would stop ... or at least slow down a bit. The following quote comes to mind: "Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them, and you have their shoes." Dave, my advice is this: next time you feel the urge to criticize ChiTown or Brock, put on their shoes and walk a mile. That's right, a mile. I'm not sure since I didn't look on the map, but I think that takes you all the way to Grindr. Then stop there and think a while about how you're going to behave when you get back to TD. My advice to ChiTown is this: merge this thread with the "Over Moderation" thread. We don't need two threads going at once that are basically all about criticizing you.
  15. Hm, well, Brock sure puts up with enough nutcakes to deserve it. Not only that ... this website is worth a million in my humble opinion. But if you want others to join you ... the ads are a nuisance. You've got my back.
  16. If this comes as any satisfaction to you, Twins Daily costs a lot more than 20 bucks to run. Why don't you go check out how much a simple website would be for you to start, and then think of what TD must cost in comparison. I don't know if a "serious discussion" is what we need to fix this problem. The man for the job is Brock Beauchamp, and let me assure you - he'll see this.
  17. Luke's been demoted to Low A Cedar Rapids. While I'm saddened by the move, Tyler Jay has his spot in Fort Myers now, not to mention that it makes Luke that much closer to home. Maybe now I'll have the chance to see my first AAP this year; while this may sound backwards, I'd especially like that if he never makes it to the bigs.
  18. Hey, unless I'm mistaken, Brock's pocket is what keeps this site up and running.
  19. It was meant to belong in the game thread. It was that stupid multi-quote that messed things up.
  20. Well, folks, we've reached the end of an era. It is with a heavy heart that I announce the departure of two beloved friends here on Twins Daily: Rally Roger and ChiTownTwinsFan. Rally Roger was loved by many and hated by one. He led the Twins to a 38-33 record before serial killer ChiTownTwinsFan demanded his destruction. He was cremated and his ashes will be buried at sea, but his legacy lives on forever in the hearts of Twins fans far and near. The body of ChiTownTwinsFan remains, but her soul was lost last night to the White Sox. I guess it was inevitable, for all who live must also die, but it still came as a huge shock. I thought she would survive Chicago, and in truth she did for fifteen years, but apparently she couldn't handle two Chicagoan teams in a row playing Minnesota, and her true colors came to light last night. A memorial service will be held this afternoon at Game Thread: White Sox @ Twins, 6/24 @ 12:10pm CT. The departed are survived by father/son Bark's Lounge.
