  1. Somehow I don't see a playoff-thirsty team firing their manager just to hire Gardy. The Twins might have made it to the playoffs often enough a decade ago, but did we do all that great? The answer is a great big NO. And I'd agree with Winston that the White Sox are the most likely spot for Gardenhire, which of course makes me happy since we need to bring that rivalry back. We can't let those sneakin' Royals come in and steal that from us.
  2. You guys have given me the greatest idea for the most popular new type of snowMAN in all the world, trending in Minnesota, first made by TD's always33, inspired by various other users.
  3. It has become a favorite phrase in our family, so don't worry. In fact, I asked what the weather would be like in Mahtomedi this coming Wednesday to know whether we would be able to watch the high school baseball game, and upon hearing the news someone (I think it was my youngest brother) asked, "Is that your Circus Boy Update?" Anything related to baseball gets that response. And let me assure you, our family leads all the trends in the neighborhood, and from there it spreads out to the whole world. So if we make a snowman without balls (like a pole), every kid in the neighborhood follows suit. And that's just a mild example. The list goes on and on.
  4. Sitting here gazing blankly at the scoreboard, I am reminded of when we made Liam Hendriks pitch the same day as FiFi. At least I think that's the way it went. If I remember correctly, he pitched a complete game and we lost 1-0. So to bring up my original point about face the bad guys against the good guys, why, it seems to improve their pitching. It's time to give it a try, Molly and Ryan.
  5. Well, well, we're all tied up at 5 hits apiece.
  6. What kind of a called strike is THAT?
  7. I just glanced at our lineup to see who I would/wouldn't trust to break it up. To my horror, I realized that not a single one of them has a higher advantage over another. http://cdn.playbuzz.com/cdn/db91f2c4-1e03-4cf5-b6c9-af6d5d46f6eb/224bf913-0a94-4e7b-85f7-99875344bd8d.gif
  8. If I say nothing about the game, forgive me. I haven't the faintest idea of what's going on since I usually watch it on our MacBook Pro, but I have a new Microsoft Toshiba and I don't dare go to the website I usually watch games on since it's a very shady source and I accidentally gave a friend of mine a virus by sending them the link.
  9. If you'd spend $96 for a pencil, I think I'd dive in and get the watch. It'd be worth it.
  10. Then we'll wait until the next series You know what they say in the ad's, "The worst brings out our best." Well, I've noticed over the years that the worst outplays our best. But does it HAVE to?
  11. I was shopping for watches that I'll never buy. So what, are we all to blame for Torii's error? Would he have seen the ball if we had?
  12. Hm, that's a lot. But being addicted to shopping, I found one for you. It's $39.99: http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=31909946&cp=1452357.1452812.4026657 http://mlb.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pMLB2-17907675dt.jpg
  13. The only watch I feel like wearing right now is this one (though of course it's not an option for a man): http://mlb.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pMLB2-16191407dt.jpg
  14. Hey everybody, I just had the most brilliant idea. Why don't we have our bad pitchers face the aces since they're going to get us a loss anyway and match up our better pitchers like Phil Hughes against the worst guys so we end the season closer to .500?
  15. Hey, that's pretty funny, honestly, but it's not the White Sox they're singling out. If they're singling anybody out this year, it's the Twins.
  16. Fun as long as players on your team don't get hurt. I'm glad that the Twins have been classy throughout this. Now if they do try to start a brawl with us, of course we have to defend ourselves. But I wish that MLB would do something to get this team under control. Maybe all the talk about putting baseball on the clock (like hockey) got the Royals wired like hockey players. And acting like that, as I said, it's only a matter of time before somebody's hurt. Another thing. What if the Royals started an uncalled for brawl because Joe Mauer didn't charge the mound after getting hit by a pitch, and Arcia and Hunter flew at them and gave them the beating they'd been asking for? Then they got suspended along with a few select Royals players. Now, just suppose that Arcia and Hunter's bats had just started to heat up, so we lost two valuable assets to our team. Would it be worth it? Well, if it put the Royals in their place, yes, I'd say so. But I don't think that MLB should leave it to the Twins (or White Sox, as the case seems to be) to deal with a bunch of toddlers who are all in need of serious help.
  17. Okay, okay, they've created a new identity for themselves. They're not going to be forgotten about for a while now. Does that mean it's time to shape up now? Heavens, yes. My reasoning is, it's only a matter of time before someone is hurt physically. I don't think we should wait and ignore the red light until something disastrous happens. Something has to be done, and in my not-so-humble opinion, it's got to be done fast. The sooner the better. And I'm telling you, that red light is blinking faster and faster.
  18. I think that's the most valid point so far.
  19. Lipreading is one of my specialties. Based on Ventura's mouth over the past few weeks, he ought to be thrown out of baseball. At least for the time being. I've had it with him.
  20. If Mike Pelfrey threw a knuckleball, would that be a balk because it's not his natural pitching motion?
  21. I agree. And I'm not going to say that someone who thinks this is a balk is necessarily wrong, I just think that if somebody turned that into their signature pitch, most (if not all) umpires would let it pass. Which is why I don't care too much about the call. If someone can slide on their foot down the mound before throwing a pitch, someone should be able to rapidly (albeit defensively, which is where this gets sticky) speed up their delivery.
  22. If making a pitch look slow but then speeding it up is "deceptive," then throwing a curve or change-up could be interpreted that way as well. When you think about it, a change-up is supposed to look like a fastball, but it's much slower than it's supposed to look, and a curve (for instance) is supposed to look like it's going over the plate but then all of a sudden swings away.
  23. The weather looked nice for Brian Dozier today:
  24. Well, you know what they say. Stranger things HAVE happened! (i.e. Pelfrey having a scoreless outing and the Twins winning on the road more than once in the first few weeks of baseball.)
  25. What other thread would you come back to in such confusion?
