  1. I haven't heard anything but assume that his calf is still hurting him. I don't get it either.
  2. Again, Butera comes up the bases loaded rather than the superior hitter (by comparison) Carroll. Let's go ahead and change this in the future Gardy.
  3. hahaha, the replay clearly shows that Mauer waited until after the catch... these wsox guys....
  4. I'm listening to the Wsox broadcast and they are insisting that Mauer left too early and very upset that no one checked the out at third. Nice AB Plouffe, for my part.
  5. Just stay out of the dirty double, please.
  6. A fly on that wall can't' tell you what isn't heard. Liddle is a space cadet.
  7. That's a 10-year-old mistake Revere. Come on baby. Think with your head not your legs.
  8. Revere hitting out of his head right now. I love it.
  9. I hope, in Liriano's memoir one day, that he'll tell us the how, what and why it is possible to go from lights out to horrible and back and forth over and over.
  10. All day, and for the first time, I've had problems with the page loading. When I click to the next page of comments, for example, it will not load properly. Running the latest version of Safari and never had problems till now and only on this site. Hope it clears up.
  11. Someone need to teach Revere not to jump for that ball. No reason, makes it more difficult and increases the risk of injury.
  12. This feels good right now... feels.... normal (as in the not so distant past)... I love playing and beating the sox.
  13. Thanks, I agree, though if one insists on batting Butera, it should be 9th or 10th in the order.
  14. And that's why it is stupid to bat Butera in front of Carroll.
  15. Perhaps the most important series of the season (at least to keep the fans interested/teased for another couple of weeks) . For some reason I'm optimistic that we can win 2/3 and it all starts tonight, then take 2/3 against KC.
  16. View from our seats at PNC on 6/19/2012 Beautiful.
  17. Ever since I move to Pittsburgh I've followed the Pirates, but not closely. By doing so, I have learned more about the NL and can safely follow one AL and one NL team without them running into each other much, save last week, but it was easy to route for the Twins then, the only team I call myself a fan of; also, the Buc and Twins share the same narratives often, from the front office down to the players. In case any of us or the Twins GMs need a memo, they've shown that all you need to be competitive is top tier/better-than-average starting pitching.
  18. Just to keep Mauer healthy and in the lineup in addition to his DH/1B rotation when we have Doumit to catch 2 times a week. If Willinham DHs and then Mauer can play a RF/1B/C rotation. This improve the OF defense, reduces defense at catcher with Doumit, but keeps Mauer's bat in the lineup.
  19. I'd just love to get Willinham to the DH, Revere to Left and a power-hitting RF who bats right handed. If we could get Hunter on a 9million/2 year deal, do it. But, I'd prefer out attention remain on FA SP. I'm also hoping the Mauer begins playing in RF next year. Agreed that many OF prospect have taken big steps back, thus I don't want to trade Span since Revere is doing just fine in RF at this point and now and it's back to Parmelee/Doumit/Mastro/Clete/other guy in RF if Revere moves to center to replace Span.
  20. SVD: We may be able to get a A prospect for Span, I don't know but I'd hope so. I'm just pessimistic on our return for a trade of Span. My only point was that if we do indeed trade Span (for whatever), it would be silly to then bring in Hunter -- for as you say, he'd be more expensive and entering the twilight of his career when we have guys who need to play while the team is on the rebound. Now, if we turn this season around so that SP is all we need in the offseason and we actually get two nice FA SPs -- and can still go after a quality RF like Hunter, then great. I don't see it happening and would much rather have the money spent on him go towards SP. I still haven't' totally figured out how the new FA A/B status and gaining/losing draft picks works... still thinking the old way; but assuming is an A or B FA, we wouldn't give up a pick to take him?
  21. If we can win 4 out of 3, we'll really be on to something special.
  22. So the .306 is his OBP? What's his average in that span just out of curiosity?
  23. I didn't say "in order to" I did say "only to" ... there are many reasons why this would not make sense and you mention some yourself; we'd get a couple B prospects for Span only to lose a draft pick for picking up a on-the-decline-Hunter. Yet, if they want Hunter to play right while keeping Span in center and Revere in left, while moving Hammer to DH, that would be best.
  24. I don't like the idea of a 30 man roster because it makes it that much easier to draft a rule 5 player and hide him on the roster for the year if he doesn't put up mlb numbers for you -- but by hiding him, you'd still get to keep him instead of sending back to his team of origin. You'd see a lot more guys taken as rule 5 guys if this were to happen. Not a good way to keep prospect you are developing but who you cannot yet put on the 40 man roster. Then again, maybe that would change to the 45 man roster, eh?
