  1. Really, who took the under for this game? They always pull this crap the day after a nice outing. Kudos to the pitching staff all around so far and especially to the rook, good on ya kid.
  2. What was that prediction on Mauer again?
  3. I almost included that thinking that someone wouldn't see that I was speaking strictly of ABs as such, without the variables of runners on and outs. Sure, runner on second and 2 outs, pitch around Mauer and walk him if you must. Duh.
  4. You're going to take Revere out of the lineup with the way he's been playing? No no no....
  5. Only 4 of those previous 15 AB resulted in more than one base, so why would they IBB Mauer? Most likely only gets a single.
  6. That cough is contagious, spreading thread to thread quickly.
  7. Agree. Tomorrow is much more ominous. A Hendricks win begins with 1st pitch strikes at better than 50%. This is the key stat to victory I'll be watching for tonight.
  8. I've been thinking that Doumit batting 7th is the best spot for him. The last 'slugger' before our two light hitting middle IF guys -- and he clogs up the base paths. Gives him 'permission' to swing away, hard.
  9. Perhaps Parmelee remains due to the lingering Doumit injured calf, Mauer recent injury and secret Morneau injury (if there is one) -- thus he's insurance as something damaging could happen at any moment to those three mentioned, requiring Parm to come in a play 1st. I'm not saying this is the truth or the exact reasoning of the front office, but am doing my best to put the pinches together because, as you all above have noted, Parm getting 3-4 ABs a weeks is baffling.
  10. Now, this lineup should produce runs and is easily their best lineup against a RHP. Watch, we'll struggle to score 2 runs tonight thought -- just been that sort of season. Of course, I hope not.
  11. Is this a Mike Redmond reference?
  12. In my mind we've got to extend Liriano and go after two #3-type FA SP to 'compliment' the locks of Diamond and Blackburn. But can't we just move Blacky to Long relief/spot start when we get rid of Gray. Please. Then sign 3 #3 FA SPs. Potential 2013 FA Starting Pitchers * indicates option Scott Baker * Joe Blanton Matt Cain Fausto Carmona * Kevin Correia Jorge De La Rosa * R.A. Dickey * Scott Feldman * Gavin Floyd * Zack Greinke Jeremy Guthrie Cole Hamels Dan Haren * Tim Hudson * Colby Lewis Francisco Liriano Kyle Lohse Derek Lowe Shaun Marcum Daisuke Matsuzaka Brandon McCarthy Brett Myers * Carl Pavano Jake Peavy * Anibal Sanchez Jonathan Sanchez Ervin Santana * Joe Saunders James Shields * Jake Westbrook * Randy Wolf * Carlos Zambrano *
  13. I'm a little torn on this. Doumit is known for a better than average bat and horrible defense no matter where he plays, thus he was supposed to by DHing and backup catching. I never want to see him in RF or 1B (or anywhere else). He's also know as injury prone (ask the pirates)-- he's already nursing a calf strain and has hardly been run out to catch every day. This makes it all the more judicious to sign again as only a backup C and get the majority of his time at DH. Yet, there are better DHs to be had. So, do we like him because he's primarily a DH with some C versatility such that we don't have to see Butera in the lineup 2a couple times a week? I'm taking a wait and see approach for another few weeks, and I think TR and the front office are doing the same, making sure this one year make-good contract (to show he can be healthy for a season) is good for the Twins going forward.
  14. Let's not celebrate the victory with barbiturates now... come on.
  15. While I enjoy the win, I don't know if I can get too rosy until we've won the series and are getting close to being competitive in the central at least.
  16. Where are you guys getting 14? The number that need to improve from tonight's game is RISP 2-12 .... ouch.
  17. You are correct, Dilligaf69 referred to individuals leaving runners on. Team LOB was only 13.
  18. 7.5 back and on a roll to taking the tepid AL Central. Here we go....... Go Twins!
  19. I was thinking the same thing but didn't know how to broach the subject, especially in mixed company since I'm sure some of the female Twins faithful are viewing this board.
  20. Morneau may need to see some time against AAA lefties to get some confidence, discipline and eye back.
  21. That won't help. He's hitting off a tee right now, just beyond all infielders' grasps and right in front off the outfielders. Only thing is to bring in the OF, but then if he hits one in the gap we will see that elusive inside the park homer. ONly thing that would help is a rover, but Revere is hitting to all fields.
  22. I didn't even think of that, but now see that that must be the reason.
  23. Why didn't Plouffe jump to make that catch?!?!
