  1. One game back of the Tribe with this win... let's go boys!
  2. Pitches and way too much too often up in the zone.
  3. Deduno hasn't given up more than 3 ER in a start this year in the majors. That's good, though he's only qualified for a quality start 2 or 3 times I believe. Keep it rolling tonight boys! (though I'm betting at least one more error from Nishi)
  4. I agree with your sentiment about some of the negativity and constantly needing to mentally fiddle with trades/promotions/demotions/position changes et cetera. Though, I also believe that most folks on here share in the spirit of your post: we want the Twins to win and that means to continually improve at every position and improve every player fielding those positions. As to the title of you post, "Can't we just enjoy what we have?" I am enjoying the resurgence of production and winning attitude I see with many of our young and formally injured players. I, like most others, see a tremendous amount of work, smart trades and smart FA signing that must occur for this team to be a competitive playoff squad. I see us requiring three good to excellent SPs in order to win the division. Can we buy them all? I don't know, but I have very little faith that this front office is the one that can buy them all.
  5. I find all this very sensible and thoughtful. Good post! For a couple months now I've been pushing for Hammer to DH next year, moving Revere to left, Span in center and a combo/platoon RF of Parm, Mauer and Hammer. Parm the default RF. Mauer 2x a week when not catching, and Hammer in right against LHP with Doumit at DH against LHP. Doumit catches 2-3x a week and can rotate at DH with Hammer. Doumit also becomes your PH bat on the bench when not a DH or catching. We can never have more than one of Hammer/Parm/Doumit in the OF and under my plan Doumit would never play defense except at catcher.
  6. He's hitting the curve better, for sure, but the curve on the second homer was horribly hung, up and in the middle of the zone. THe curves that have been very tough for Morneau were the low and away curves that actually bite. Not taking anything away from Morneau's performance, but at least that second curve was not really a curve at all.
  7. Hammer moves to DH and Doumit is your backup C/bench PH bat with Mauer in RF when not catching. Revere in LF and Span in center. Trade Parmelee if need be. It's perfect.
  8. Let him play out his contract year and see what happens. If you continues to improve throw a 2 year deal at him on the cheap and see if he turns it down. I don't think he does, nor do I think there's a better 1B option in the next 3 years for the Twins.
  9. Dozier is but a stop gap at this point. He's not panning out and I don't think he can become more than AAAA/AAA player. Just a replacement level player.
  10. While he is hitting out of his head right now, he should (and is capable) get his OBP up around .400 to take advantage of his speed on the base paths.
  11. Oh good, the ad moved now. That is an impressive and encouraging stat.
  12. Cdog, I'd love to read your comment but some State Farm ad is blocking it.
  13. I'm still left wondering what exactly it is (was) that the Twins' scouts see (saw) in Nishioka. Guy still looks like he's brand new to the game.
  14. Diamond continues to impress. Looking like Mark Buehrle in his prime.
  15. ...and he's still horrible.....
  16. Morneau's second home was a no-douter, fifteen rows up in right center on a very high, merely spinning curve. His eyes lit up. It was great.
  17. Of course Nishi make two outs in the same inning. We can win Snepp, in spite of Nishi.
  18. Doumit's HR just made it out, but hit on the screws. A very solid liner.
  19. The team's message seems to be that they can out hit Nishi's defense. This is good. I did spit up in my mouth laughing at Nishi's fancy defense earlier.
  20. You mean Butera was unavailable as well?
  21. 50 Shades of Grey > Gray
  22. Little bit over aggressive there Joe. Another shame of a game.
