  1. This is a good point. Nunez can play 3rd, and kinda play short. Not 2nd. DanSan can play short (kind of) and center field.... A weird time to be experimenting with Santana at 2nd
  2. He's giving Ryan an out to start Nolasco and avoid conflict. I don't agree with it, but we all know how this will play out if Duff cannot get it together (if that hasn't just cemented it).
  3. Seth, that is a great point, and some real good talent there. It would be nice, and almost unheard of for the Twins to produce a home grown SS of the future for the big league club. One of those 5 should really pan out (or one of those 4, because I think Polanco is not going to stick).
  4. Fien was dominant in 2014? Please elaborate.
  5. Per Gleeman, nobody has played a 100 games at a listed weight above 250lbs in over 50 years (in RF)....I know I wrote earlier that I think Sano is athletic enough, but...that is an interesting observation he makes. I also like his point about why make iffy moves for a guy who has a career .245 ba, .308 OBP, and a .420 SLG? I think we may be over valuing Ploufe both on the trade market and his value to the team...
  6. Good stuff Seth (although "able to handle right field" might need to be clarified, as Cuddy really struggled at Target Field). However, I do agree that Sano is the better athlete and could play RF from an athletic standpoint. I also tend to agree with Platoon and a few others when it comes to Ploufe. It just feels like there is not going to be a better time to move him. Maybe we don't get that much, but how will that change moving forward? Terry appears pretty adamant on this though. I guess we will see.
  7. I miss those pinstriped unis...like them better than our current away ones. The Evans play is my favorite all time Twins' defensive play....I will never forget watching that. Thanks Parker!
  8. Gotta say boys, Molly bringing in Perk in that high leverage situation was suspect. He's been awful in 2nd half. Injuries or not May woulda been the right call. Just bad managing. I don't blame Perk, he just doesn't have it. Doesn't throw slider. it is what it is. Ruesse's article riping Chris Young is just wrong. He's been very good this year for a soft tossing journeyman. #1 against right handed batters in the whole AL. He's been good. Yes the offense could and should have done more, but you cannot bring a guy with an almost an 8 era with your season on the line in a high leverage situation.... On the double that hicks dove for and didn't get, that shoulda been Torii's ball. Bad jump, no speed, love me some Torii, but he's just not the same. Hurt us later with the kick. Oh well great season. Win Twins!
  9. I go back and forth on the one game wild card. As I read these comments, there are some really good points being made. One thing I would add, is to adjust the unbalanced schedule. The Twins benefited from this in all 6 of their Division titles under Gardy. That's fine. I would argue, that since the division was the weakest at those times, that we did not have a realistic view of how we stacked up against the East or West. It kinda played out that way in the playoffs. If we lessen the unbalanced schedule, not get rid of it completely, we would have a few more games against each team in the East/West and that could make those games more meaningful (especially in Aug/Sept).
  10. Per a tweet by gleeman: "Eddie Rosario has 1 walk and 43 strikeouts in his last 33 games. For the year he has 11 walks, 101 strikeouts, and a .286 OBP in 101 games". Rosario is far from a finished product, but having good plate coverage does not help much if your OBP is .286. Obviously we can hope for a learning curve here, but I am less confident that Rosario (based on his last few years in minors) projects to do too much more than this. I'd certainly be willing to wait and see on him, but I wouldn't be opposed to moving him before Hicks though.
  11. 3rd attempt at bunting...molly loves the bunt!!!!
  12. I agree with NYTtwinsfan. Hunter has been awful. Embarrassingly so. He also had that ball drop in front of him (close to the line), with a terrible jump and just no speed. Who doesn't think Rosario or Hicks cannot make that play? Hunter is a veteran, at the end of his career (at least I hope with the Twins). Buxton is a rookie, hopefully franchise player. If they both are going to struggle at the plate, let Buxton play and get valuable experience in a playoff race. He might figure some things out at the plate. I do not think playing Robinson more is the answer...
  13. Artcher not bad that inning...good!
  14. Yes Duensing! Now we can battle back.
  15. Suzuki up there swinging against Manship...how about take a pitch? My god.
  16. Molly get's a little rope here, but not TR. Right about May, what better way to stretch him out?
  17. nice left handed at bat for hicksy, although it was against Manship
  18. shame on molly for leaving Pelf in that long
  19. Also, the Twins have come out and said they are not signing Torii, fan favorite?
  20. I'd run this lineup out: 1. Hicks (he's seriously turned it around) 2. Rosario (hitting reasonably well and fast enough to stay out of enough DP's) 3, Dozier 4. Sano (Having a power threat in front and behind him might actually get him pitches to hit) 5. Plouffe 6. Hunter 7. Mauer (He's a .265-.270 hitter with no power. He belongs down here) 8. Suzuki 9. Escobar Not sure I think Hicks has "seriously turned it around", as he still cannot hit batting left handed....he has played better though....
  21. No verified proof, besides what Torii has said, and the Twins pattern of behavior with veterans they like
  22. Should we be alarmed, that once again Dozier is fizzling in the 2nd half of the season...for the 3rd straight year? Don't get me wrong, he's our best player, but the k's and super low batting average are cause for concern. The Twins refusal to talk about or deal with (I'm projecting to the future off season) about the problem that is Joe Mauer, is going to become a real big issue in the media. As it should be. Finally, most of us know the Twins are going to extend Torii, perpetuating the problems from this 2nd half into 2016 (as he gets a year older). There is no guarantee that 2016 is going to be better (with hitting), as the Twins obvious flaws have finally caught up with them. We can hope that these veteran issues are ironed out (haven't touched on Suzuki) in the off season...not real optimistic they will be though.
  23. Couldn't you substitute the name Duensing in the above post and have the exact same expected answer?
  24. Rosario has proven his arm is very inaccurate. Maybe he is a lot like Jaque. No plate discipline, and a terribly inaccurate arm.
  25. This team, feels like it could be no hit at some point and time soon...
