  1. I initially though yiddish. Either that, or he was supposed to be Chase, but the records office fat-fingered an "n" in there while going for the space bar. Now that I say that, I am completely convinced that's exactly what happened.
  2. Provus just said "Betances now warming, he will close this one out". Way to be optimistic Cory.
  3. On a different note, what the hell kind of name is Chasen Shreve?
  4. Joe's lucky to be on, that was ball 5.
  5. Twins need to go ahead in the 8th, or they will definitely lose in the 9th.
  6. As a fellow West Coaster, I couldn't disagree more. I love day games starting at 10, and night games starting at 4 or 5.
  7. You're kidding. This is a joke, right?
  8. The lyrics to a Faith No More song?
  9. I'm glad you finally saw the light on the fact the bullpen is plenty rested. Now the quality of those rested options...
  10. Uh-oh, here comes O'Rourke, hope he's not worn out from those 6 pitches he threw yesterday.
  11. I'm not debating the composition of it, but rather Chief's theory that a team not calling up another bullpen arm when they have 3 pitchers who haven't pitched in 3 days is somehow not trying to compete.
  12. The Twins haven't lost a series in New York since 2011. Let that sink in too.
  13. I have this shirt, and it's my favorite one ever. I'm not from New York.
  14. I'll go even further, and spot you May's 3 innings on Friday, making it 20. Split amongst 8 guys, and rounding up, that's 2.2 innings each, over the last four days. That's not run through by any definition of the phrase, unless you think a guy who pitched 1.1 inning on Sunday can't be used today (since that would be half the workload in half the time). Pick another place to try and make your case that somehow the Twins don't care about winning, because this just isn't one.
  15. Dan Gladden, in reference to Joe Mauer, was just heard to utter... "if there's anyone to break up a no-hitter, it's this guy". I'm guessing he doesn't spend a whole lot of time studying those crazy stat things.
  16. Or none. Read Chief's original post; he said when the bullpen gets run through, they option a guy so they can bring up a replacement, so they have at least one fresh arm. We have 3 guys with fresh arms. Because our bullpen was not run through. Hence no need to bring up a fourth fresh arm, otherwise a team with a 7 man bullpen would have to make a move every time they used 4 relievers in a game.
  17. To be fair, we have 13 pitchers currently on our staff, 3 of whom are relievers, and did not pitch yesterday (or the day before, for that matter).
  18. How else are we supposed to find out he's a clutch run-producer?
  19. If he's sitting he could put his elbows on his knees, and theoretically have no strike zone. His OBP would be off the charts.
  20. Dear Mr. Molitor; why is Robinson playing in lieu of Rosario, exactly?
  21. So you're blaming Escobar for the rest of the Twins lineup not being good enough? Escobar is better than the shortstops for the Pirates, Cubs, Angels, and Rangers, and as recently as last year was a top 10 offensive shortstop in the league, and top 15 in defense. The Twins current struggles are much more to do with our shortcomings at catcher and in right field, combined with inconsistent performances from our pitchers.
  22. The Twins absolutely can win with Esco as the starting shortstop. By OPS, he ranks 19th in the majors, which is higher than Gregorious, Andrus, Aybar, Alcides Escobar, Mercer, Hardy, and Castro, all of whom have played shortstop for teams with better records than the Twins. By UZR/150, he ranks 17th, ahead of Cabrera, Mercer, Castro, Peralta, Tulowitzki, Aybar, Andrus, and Desmond. By those two metrics, Escobar is flat-out better than Mercer, Castro, Aybar, and Andrus. The notion Esco can't be our starting shortstop if we want to win is ridiculous.
