  1. Tom Powers Although he is in demand, Glen Perkins likely will not be moved; he says he has been told as much. Tom Powers: Twins' trade chips falling wrong way - TwinCities.com
  2. Ron Gardenhire has announced that Case Fien and Caleb Thielbar will take over the 8th inning duty's. Gardenhire also stated that Duensing and Burton will be taking a mental break??? Per La Velle E Neil
  3. Patience Folks, meaningful innings will be coming for Thielbar much sooner then latter.
  4. Is it fair to make such a broad judgement which is based on one trip to Target Field? I can assure you, there are tens of thousands of Fans at the park who take the game very seriously. Many of them are sending Money to the Twins throughout the Winter. The Twins put up a large amount of stats with the room they have to work with. Less then 1% of the crowd is cheering for the free t shirts, it's between inning entertainment, mostly for the kids. Maybe their are a hundred folks holding up (Circle me Bert signs) out of 29 to 35 Thousand. Yes there are folks who are out for a night of entertainment. Many of them are not paying to much attention to the game. How is this a problem? Their Money is also green. We need their Money for a healthy Franchise. It was a dead crowd last Thursday. The Crowd behavior can vary from game to game. Maybe a test can be given to see who can enter the Stadium.
  5. Last Thursday against KC, Thielbar was warming up during a tight situation. Deduno was attempting to hold onto a 2-1 lead in the 7th. Deduno did get out of trouble. Burton came in the 8th. The Twins did win 3-1.
  6. More cheering for Morneau then Mauer? We do not see it. Many fans seem to perk up whenever Mauer comes to the plate. There are a lot more Mauer jerseys floating around Target Field then anybody else. I also wonder who the average or casual fan might be. On most nights, the majority of Seats have been purchased by Season Ticket Holders. A good number of them may spend 20-80 games at Target Field. Misinformed? I don't think so.
  7. Percentage of runners on base when Pitcher entered the game who subsequently scored. Duensing 34% 29 Fien 15% 27 Roenicke 33% 21 Swarzak 38% 13 Presley 45% 11 Theibar 75% 4 Burton 67% 3 Perkins 100% 2
  8. Twins Relievers have inherited 119 base runners. (second highest in the American League.) The Bullpen has allowed 37% of those runners to score. (highest in the American League, Second highest in both leagues.) The league average is 31%
  9. 2009 Revenue 162 million Payroll 65 million 2008 Revenue 158 million Payroll 62 million A little research shows that the Twins were well under 50% of revenue in their final two years at the Dome. The result was a very healthy operating income of over 50 million dollars. The Business Of Baseball - Forbes.com The Business Of Baseball - Forbes.com
  10. The younger players coming up are going to need a Mentor. Who should that be?
  11. I was attempting to point out why there is some anger among Fans regarding the continuing payroll cuts.
  12. Reported by Edgar Linares April 7 2011 WCCO Radio The cost to go to a Minnesota Twins game ranks among the priciest in the nation. The Twins are No. 6 in the nation for priciest ticket, according to a Team Marketing Report. The survey, conducted by a sportshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png marketing firm in Chicago, finds the average price for a non-premium seat at Target Field is $33.04. Minnesota Twins spokesman Kevin Smith said there are a number of factors that went into the pricing. “Absolutely, we have a new stadiumhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png, which we are in charge of maintaining now (and) a payroll of over $100 million,” said Smith. “We just thought that ticket pricing was the best we could do.” ------------------------------------------------------------------------ So let me get this straight, the Twins say they need the high ticket prices to support a larger payroll. But now, the payroll is heading back to pre Target Field levels. But of course, the ticket prices will remain the same. How can anybody be upset???? Especially those who are buying the tickets. 13. There will be live streaming coverage on MLB.com.
  14. It was good, but I gotta have more Cowbell!
  15. Actually, Gardinhire did make a reference to Thielbar. (Even got the ball for his first win. We're celebrating that too.) Gardinhire post game interview.
  16. On February 5 of 1991, Andy Macphail signed Jack Morris to a free agent contract of 3.7 million dollars which also included his bonus. This contract was 80% higher then anything he had received in Detroit. In 1991, Jack Morris had the 5th highest contract in Baseball. The rest is history. Would Ryan had made this deal?? Would we have had the same outcome with one of his dumpster dive deals?
  17. You can fill up a Barn with all the Straw that's blowing around.
  18. It's just not the average Fans folks! Ryan promised the Season Ticket holders that he would do everything in his power to improve the Pitching Staff. Rebuilding or not, the Twins can and should have a better product. Ryan brings in the likes of Mike Palfrey on a trash can deal, and at the same time, millions of dollars are going back into Jim Pohlad's pocket. Lets not start the Straw man argument ( people are crazy if they think you can buy a pennant) The Twins had the resources to bring in better Pitching. This might have made the product more watchable. Over paying for better pitching might have been needed. My answer to this is SO WHAT!! How is the unspent millions helping this Franchise? In the past, the Twins have not carried over unspent payroll.
  19. Twins v Astros August 2,3,4 Get your tickets while prices are still low. Would this be considered a meaningful game??
  20. Does anyone know about Bobby Cuellar's philosophy? He may be the Pitching Coach in waiting.
  21. With all the pitching injury's, how can you blame the Pitching Staff!! Whoops!! (never mind)
  22. From 2011 until today, approximately 39 million has come off the payroll. Where has all the money gone?? Hint, not on the field. 2011 Final Baseball Payrolls - MLB - ESPN USA Today | Sports | MLB | Salaries
  23. It appears, Worley has a good attitude regarding his demotion. Quoted in the Bollinger Beat I just need to work on being myself and getting back to what I was doing,” said Worley, who had a career 3.50 ERA in three seasons with the Phillies. “They haven’t seen what I’ve been capable of doing. Ever since I’ve been here, it’s been a battle so I need to figure it out.”
  24. I believe the Franchise is locked in for 30 years. The values are based on the Franchise playing at Target Field.
