  1. Stick a fork in that arm, it's dead!
  2. Best sign of all: Pelfrey struck a guy out with the fork ball.
  3. Eddie!! Gunned him down, shazzzammm!
  4. Omens are cheap. Something bad is bound to happen somewhere, and then you claim all the credit.
  5. I expect to see Eddie Rosario expand and refine his game much the same way that Brian Dozier has done, for they are similar characters. With Bruno's help Rosario should improve his situational awareness and ability to read pitchers. Molitor and company should teach him (along with the other young guys) how to better steal bases, bunt, etc. When Rosario, Buxton, Kepler and the other young guns incorporate the finer aspects of the game, this team is going to be even more fun to watch. Goodie!
  6. Most impressive to me is Duffey's maturity as a pitcher. He arrived with a fully functional repertoire of pitches, not trying to add mph to his fastball or learning to control his curve. He pitches within himself, commanding the zone with good mechanics. You can see that his catchers love the guy, their delight apparent even as they dig a strikeout curve ball out of the dirt. Improving Duffey's stuff will be a matter of tweaking his change-up and learning not to yank his fastball quite so often. If Duffey threw his change on the same flight path as his dirt ball curve, that could cause nightmares for hitters. How would you like to swing half a foot over the curve, then try to get down for the curve, only to swing half a foot under a change-up? Then you think you've got that figured out, he throws a two-seamer on the corner, and his 91mph heater looks like it's going 96. Literally there's nothing a hitter can anticipate with Duffey. He'll throw the curve on any count, and he's not going to walk you. And he won't just throw the curve for a strike; it's going to be a strike low on a corner. And even his high curve has that crazy bend... Yikes.
  7. Good job by Jepsen. He's looking like a pretty good closer. Perk looked good in the 8th, too.
  8. Manship always had a good curve. Not a great curve, but tight spin, always diving down. He should throw it even more than he just did to the Twins.
  9. Great job by Jeff Manship. Why the Twins didn't bunt with no outs and a runner on 3rd... Can't Sano bunt?
  10. Did I just hear Bruno call Rosario "Steady Eddie?" Good nickname.
  11. Sano wanted a fastball so bad, and Manship knew it.
  12. There are two ways to deal with pressure: Feel it, or apply it. I recommend that the Twins apply pressure to their opponents.
  13. So, what do you call one of the little boxes that they divide the strike zone into? Tribox? Boxie? Boxicle? Trident? Thirdie?
  14. Ervin Santana is an interesting pitcher. He varies his speed, spin and location enough that neither the hitter nor the catcher is sure what's coming next.
  15. No way Max learned English in Texas. Getting rid of that accent is tougher than winning a piss fight with an ornery mule. Tougher than a rawhide pillow. Tougher than a bowl of rocks for breakfast. Tougher than teethin' on a old car tire. Tougher than findin' out yer best gal is a rodeo clown. Tougher than a rubber burrito. Tougher than findin' out that weren't no burrito. From yer best gal, who's a rodeo clown.
  16. I vas a liddle dissapoinded zat he hes no Cherman aggzent, but I'll ged ober it. Watched a short interview; sounded like he grew up in Ohio. Velcomen to de mejor liggs, Maximus! Maybe we can get him to watch some Hogan's Heroes, so he can develop a good Colonel Klink... ;-)
  17. Fantastic news for Max Kepler. Well earned. Congrats to Der Kid!
  18. Kepler will platoon with the other three OF's next year, also spelling Mauer at 1st base. Rosario, Buxton and Hicks will continue to play great outfield, with no drop off for Rosario, who will improve at the plate with at least 22 home runs, and an average of about .270. Rosario will be the steadiest player on the team. He reminds me a little of Bryce Harper. He has upper deck power that isn't going away. Buxton will start hitting line drives on a regular basis, and around the All Star break will start banging balls over the fence, but not soon enough for All Star votes. 12 to 15 dingers next year. Buxton's base stealing will improve drastically as he learns to lead off better and read pitchers. He will be a constant threat to bunt for hits. Hicks will continue to improve his lefty hitting, but his power numbers will still be better from the right side. Kepler will struggle at the plate briefly, then start hitting tons of line drives. A polite young man, he will hit balls into the gaps and maintain a high average until around mid-season, then finish with 15 or so homers in the last three months. Sano will hit 38 homers next season, then 42 or more for the next 15 years. This is what my eyeballs tell me, but they could be lying. Damn my eyes!
  19. I think I'm going to wander away. See if I can find something shiny.
  20. Twins have a logjam of guys that need to hit 9th. Dozier should get a couple games off to get his legs back. Play Nunez at 2nd for a couple. Nunez always looks great after a week on the bench.
  21. I think we have just seen something more frustrating than a bad internet connection. At least we have Tom Kelly's incisive commentary to help us through the game. Eh...
  22. Same thing happened to me two games ago. Kept freezing up every 20 seconds, I finally left the house and did something else. Not sure where the blockage is, but it's very frustrating.
  23. No, leave Santiago in!! We like him!!
  24. Felix Jorge continues to be the Little Engine that Could. Not a big guy, but what a fighter on the mound!
