  1. Unfortunately this is the structure of MLB contracts. Look at what Madison Bumgarner is making and imagine what he will be paid when his current deal expires. Will he be worth what he will be making in the last 3 years of that deal? Maybe, but probably not. He will be paid based on what he's done in the years leading up to the next contract. The Twins could not let Mauer leave and thus gave him a deal that ensured he would likely retire a Twin.
  2. I'll say under. I don't like that pitching staff at all.
  3. I'd have to also say under. Considering the other teams in the division, I don't see how they finish above .500. I'll say 77-85
  4. Thank you!
  5. I watched the MLB Network Rod Carew special yesterday. Very moving and inspiring. If you haven't checked it out yet, i highly recommend finding out when the network intends to replay it. Watching the special, and also reading how Twins players wore "Heart of 29" shirts this weekend made me wonder how to get one of those. Does anyone know how to acquire said shirt? Any assistance or ideas are much appreciated!
  6. At one point, does the return for Plouffe become irrelevant if moving him, and moving Sano to 3b improves the lineup substantially?
  7. I would like to take this opportunity to say Happy New Year to everyone associated with Twins Daily, especially the moderators. I really enjoy reading the articles and forum topics, and participating in discussions with fellow Twins fans. 2015 was a pretty stressful one for me, and Twins Daily was a great escape and many times therapeutic. Hope everyone has a great start to 2016 and I cannot wait for Spring Training! Go Twins!
  8. This would (hopefully) be a case where after most of the FA pitchers sign, a team that missed out would be desperate enough to take Nolasco off the Twins' hands......
  9. Indeed he is. You think he'd represent a Catholic School teacher in Chicago? Maybe help me get a few more bucks? I mean, if he can get 16M for Mike Pelfrey, he's a miracle worker!
  10. Yeah a one year flyer, even at 8M, I'd understand. But committing to 2 years? I guess Detroit likes Tommy John Procedure Alumni
  11. We could only hope.......
  12. Just heard its 2 years, $16M. Bwaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
  13. Mike Pelfrey has signed with the rival Detroit Tigers. At least we don't have to worry about TR being tepmted to bring him back again.......
  14. Since we are on the topic of Park, has anyone heard where the Twins are in terms of negotiations?
  15. Tex for Nolasco? Sure. Tex for Gibson. No chance.
  16. OK.....I'm about to tick off the lady in charge of stocking the printer with paper in this school......Too bad Lady! It's Offseason Handbook time!
  17. Considering the season Houston and Texas had, I'm surprised, but pleasantly so....
  18. Just made my purchase. I'm looking forward to the release. Only wish there was a Postseason portion to read about, but I think that will be in future editions for sure!
  19. The 2015 season was fun, and what made following the Twins so much fun for me was Twins Daily and Gleeman & the Geek. Living in another state (an enemy one nonetheless...) makes it harder to follow my favorite team, but this site was my absolute every day, multiple times a day, go to source for news, insight and the chance to converse with fellow Twins fans. Thank you, John, and thanks to everyone involved with this site. I'm sad that 2015 is over, but can't wait for what the hot stove season and the 2016 season is going to bring........
  20. A part of me is disappointed as a trip to the wild card game would have been a lot of fun. But this whole season was so much more exciting and promising than any of us could have anticipated. Im looking forward to the next season, both with the Twins on the field and all of us here on the Twins Daily forums. Thanks to all of the moderators for running this invaluable resource!
  21. I really enjoyed this article. Thanks so much, John! I am making it my goal for the week to make the phrase "clutch-errific clutchiness" a part of my vocabulary!
  22. Since my All Time fave was already mentioned (Winfield), and I'm guessing Will Ferrell doesn't count, I'll go with my All Time NL Fave....Will "The Thrill" Clark
  23. Even my dog is angry about this.....
  24. Since I live in Chicago, I must endure all of the Cubs hype. And while I am grudgingly admitting they've been a surprise, i have to wonder how'd they fare in the AL. The Cubs feasting on the likes of the Reds, Brewers, Phillies, Marlins, et al makes their meteoric rise a little bit less impressive, at least to me. I have so many family members and friends that are Cubs fans, so I take a bit of a beating for this viewpoint. The bottom teams in the AL have far superior records to the bottom teams of the NL. Sorry for the anti-Cubs rant. I just needed a place to vent where those hearing it would more likely sympathize with me.....thanks TD readers! Trying to keep what's important in perspective and enjoy this Twins season for what it is....a pleasant surprise
  25. I too despise the wave and am pleased others agree. I enjoyed this piece very much. I liked too the point about dumb chants. Here in the Chicago suburbs we have an AHL hockey team ( Chicago Wolves) and whenever the Wolves score a goal the fans chant "(insert opposing goalie name here) 3x" then "YOU SUCK!" I hate that too.....
