  1. Id rather take the pitcher over the best ss. Best ss could be a bust. At least a pitcher could be moved to bullpen. I just think adding pitching is just so hard to do unless you draft them early. I do get sick of watching florimon with the bat. He is so lost...but i havent read anything...anywhere, that has any ss worth a top 10 pick this year. The only ones ranked high are ranked there because they are ss's and not because they belong
  2. Exactly...should have been more specific. I believe they would be considered a protectorate vs. a colony. I think the point is that Rosario grew up in the US speaking spanish AND English. He is now an adult and should be held to the same standards as any 21 year old adult who has a job. Especially when that job could pay you millions. Now could he grow up and still be a great mlb player, sure. I hope to hell he does...time will tell.
  3. Puerto Rico is not a different country btw. They vote for president and have non-voting member of congress. I am concerned as he already had a bad rap as a not so great charactered kid. I think a move to the OF is already a forgone conclusion. Dozier is above average at 2nd and you are right about a lack of OF prospects. The jury is out on Hicks as well. Who knows how long collabello and kubel will be able to limp around right field?
  4. I still think Hoffman would be great at #5. He is super athletic. Just last week McDaniel was talking about him still being in the convo for 1-1. Now that may not be the case after his last two starts, but the guy does throw mid 90's heat and plays for a terrible team. He went through 4 catchers in first 6 weeks. Get him here, teach him a change, and we are talking a #2 minimum maybe #1 guy. I would be bummed if the draft went: Aiken, Kolek, Rodon, Hoffman in some sort of order. Leaving with Jackson, who I am still not sold on as a top 5 pick. In fact, I would rather have Nola, whose floor seems to be #4 and ceiling a #3...as well as being in the big leagues by late next summer.
  5. I just had a genius idea...lets put the DH in for Floriman and have the pitcher bat 9th. Who agrees? KC is a better hitter, I'm pretty sure I heard that Nolasco is no slouch with the bat (relatively speaking). They can't be as bad as Florimoan (because I moan in disgust after every at bat). The guy should just try to bunt every time...literally bunt so anyone on base can just move up a base. He looks more lost than Helen Keller in a...well anywhere she has never been. He just looks bad.
  6. I saw Mike Hampton pinch run when I was a little kid. Ironically I believe it was against eventual champion Arizona Diamondbacks. I got to see the Big Unit and The Bloody Sock in the same series, and no one else was there. Nice ballpark, crappy team. (or maybe I dreamt that but I was pretty sure it had happened, dude was an athlete, Hampton that is).
  7. If your FB is 80, what is your change? 72? 65?
  8. Should have done it in December. For position player he could have maybe played half a season. Doesn't really need an elbow to play first anyway does he?
  9. Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd Mcshay. Best draft coverage on the planet. KLaw and ESPN probably rank 3rd to 4th when it comes to prospects and baseball coverage on the internet. Also KLaw says what is on his mind, plus he rips fans on the site. I agree that a scout/team would perhaps "fib" about a player to KLaw to lower his perceived value in a heartbeat. I agree that he needs teams/scouts more than they need him. He can only scout so many players/teams a year, whereas teams have scouts watching almost every game possible. The Twins had someone watch, in person, all of Kohl Stewart's pitches.
  10. I would prefer not because of draft compensation. The only way I would do it, is if we got him for 4/50 (because he will be bad next year and year 3, so at least we get TWO good years), and also sign Drew. The draft pick is a big deal to me. I don't think Santana makes this team that much better honestly. Even with 3-4 WAR we are still at 75 win team at best.
  11. I was so jacked when Appel wasn't taken #1 overall. Then, I was both astonished and outraged that he wasn't taken by the Twins. I knew lots about Buxton, but figured he'd go number 1. I wanted Appel more than the other pitchers, but an OF when we had so many? I then apologized to my inner self as I believe blindly that the Twins know what they are doing. As per-uze...the Twins knew what they were doing, and I was wrong. When Appel kept falling, I got more and more comfortable with the pick. Today, I guess you could say I admit that I was wrong, I would much rather have Buxton and JO than Appel and...some easy-to-sign/cheap senior in the supplemental.
  12. I believe it was black tar heroin. I could be mistaken.
  13. Ironic...but I see where that is coming from. Ruin it, no, have double standards and good ole' boy tendencies. Perhaps. The information is good and the idea of having a one stop Twins site is great. I come here first during the day to get links to other sites like BP, BA, John Sickles (Sickels), ESPN Insider and other important sites (all of which I have memberships too). I can't get enough about prospects and consider myself a prospect junky. That is the good of the site. The bad of the site...well...I understand moderating, but I feel that on a few occasions, IMHO, the moderators are TOO smart, TOO smug, and TOO delete happy. Don't take it the wrong way, I still love the site and the writers...just dislike the sites English Majors who keep deleting my posts. (It is ironic because I don't think English Majors should be capitolized) P.S. I spelled capitalized wrong too, I am on a roll.
  14. I see this thread has a good following and I have something related and didn't know where to put it. I was looking for some good podcasts to listen to the other day, and I have found the best baseball podcast ever. It is called "Fringe Average." It is legit. Moderators would have a heart attack after listening to the first 5 minutes. It is straight prospect talk with very colorful/construction yard language. I love it. Search for it on iTunes.
  15. You can't say #erection either. Had the post deleted last week. My 10th graders get away with more in class. Over moderation muchmuch
  16. this thread is offensive in title only and should be deleted #hiroshima
  17. I would like to talk about Keith Law being unprofessional, but would probably get it deleted #overmoderation
  18. With all do respect, this is not a great, good, or even OK analogy. Kubel was kind of anti-Twins when he left (Target Field at least), but he found out quick that the Twins are a model franchise who have fallen on rough times.
  19. I was surprised to here the "rumors" about Rosario being an alleged bad kid. Again, in his chat, KLaw was asked something about his character and he reiterated the point that he had questionable character. If Klaw hears it, I would bet it has some wheels. The kid did fail two drug tests. I don't understand kids smoking pot when they know they can be tested...dumb
  20. The Twins podcast is sweet, didn't know they had that. They actually talk about Twins stuff and not about the brunch they had and how many beers they drank. Wish I had known this was a weekly thing so I could have listened to it instead of 130 episodes where I feel I am Eve's dropping on someones meaningless conversation. ACTUALLY TWINS TALK ON A PODCAST: revolutionary.
  21. I know who Jim Callis and John Mayo are, very good, reputable prospect writers. Who is the guy on the right and does he have the intel to be with the other two? This is WAY better than watching the joke the MLB draft has become on MLBNetwork.
