    I think they'll be fine. Julien will get another shot, Farmer and Lewis are due back from injury, plus Lee should get a shot later in the season. Not to mention Miranda has shown signs of breaking out and Martin may or may not get healthy and get a shot. And Steer's slash line isn't that impressive - .240/.316/.404 .720 OPS, good for an OPS+ or wRC of 88, 12% below league average.

    2 runs on 3 hits, not really Baldelli's fault. Maybe the 5 walks lulled them to sleep.

    As I type this Gray gets another call off the plate... Umpires don't seem to want pitch calling responsibilities anymore.

    Both pitchers have gotten one call out of the zone - low and away against Correa and Olivares

    Farmer, Kirilloff, Julien, Lewis, Wallner, and possibly Martin mean the end of Castro, Solano and Gordon this year, and probably Polanco and Kepler next year. Tough choices will have to be made.

    The biggest black hole in the line-up is the $200 MM shortstop. Maybe dropping him from the two-spot for a couple games will wake his bat up. The biggest weakness on this team is defense(who as a Twins fan thought that would the case). There seems to be at least one bad play a game, and that seems to open the floodgates to a bad inning. Here's to hoping that warmer weather (eventually) will cure that.

    Greinke's been getting that call all night. Twins just finally decided to call the ump on it.

    Twins starters have averaged almost 6 IP per start (124.1 over 21 starts), not including Maeda's 16 IP over 4 starts (very Archeresque). 4 stud relievers to cover 3 innings should do it. Headrick is locked into the long reliever role (for now), and Pagan, Alcala & Moran, while not completely reliable, are serviceable. Not to be trusted in close games, but serviceable. Look at most teams, the BP's pretty much look the same. They need a 5th starter before they need a middle-reliever, and Ober and Varland are available, amongst other potential options.

    Maeda is not getting the job done, whether it is a physical or mental issue I do not know. Ober has a good track record and Varland has shown the ability to get outs at the MLB level. If this team is serious about competing, they cannot afford to let Maeda "figure it out" when they have 2 better options available. IL him and let him work on things between BP sessions and re-hab starts in St. Paul. Recovery from TJ surgery is different for every player, and even though he has taken extended time, he does not look ready.
