  1. I'm not opposed to blowing it up, in fact I think it probably is the wisest course of action. But I'd wait till summer. Both Mahle and Maeda would most likely fetch more then than now, if they prove healthy. Nobody is paying full price for either today, when both are coming back from injury. If we get to July and it's another lost season, dump it all then. Gray, Mahle, Maeda, Polanco at minimum.
  2. Why the sarcasm?? The Twins were "in on" both of those two.
  3. Vasquez was an overpay, made necessary by the front office's putting themselves in the position of needing him really, really badly. They HAD to basically give Vasquez way more than he was worth.
  4. I came here just to see the "Well we tried REAL hard" article, with similar comments, and TD didn't disappoint. Anybody still sticking with their "we only got Farmer as a backup" stance?
  5. Since you're arguing in this thread against spending like the Padres to avoid the inevitable crash, arguing the Padres haven't been successful, and want "development front and center," yes. How else would I take that?
  6. You said earlier you want "development." What does THAT have to do with comparing the Twins and Padres payroll?? Nothing. Zip. Zilch. The two things are unrelated, but can certainly co-exist. Like with...your favorites, the Dodgers. The Twins can spend more, AND they can do a better job developing.
  7. I was hoping I wouldn't ever see that ******* windup again. Just another reason to hate the White Sox.
  8. Randball's Stu breaks out of a sustained slump bigtime! BIGTIME!!! "Zachary was in a timeout for not sharing at recess and would address the media at an undetermined future date when he started making better choices." Hahahahaha
  9. Weird. Houston must think RBI are important.
  10. Zero people? You can't be serious. "RBI are meaningless" is orthodox stathead-ology.
  11. Funny how RBI aren't important until nobody has any. Abreu would be a fantastic addition to this lineup. Fantastic. The guy drives in runs.
  12. It took you five minutes to decide to do the right thing?? Keep it.
  13. I lost a ten spot recently, pretty sure it was at the Prospect Park Station on the Green Line. Anybody finds it, PM me at TwinsDaily.
  14. Which fact did I ignore...last WS over 30 years ago, or last postseason win pre-Twins Daily and then some?
  15. I explicitly cited history. More than 30 years of history since a WS appearance. The last postseason win, much less winning series, is a distant memory. History? Please.
  16. The Pressly trade was a poor decision in foresight, not just hindsight. And in the long run, Alcala may yet produce, but Celestino isn't even worth mentioning. He provides no value, and in fact hurts the team by occupying a roster spot.
  17. Dunno. Sooner with players as good as Correa than without. I do not subscribe to the theory of "wait until you have good players to sign good players." I don't believe the finances are beyond the Twins capabilities. I don't believe signing market rate contracts for good players prevents the Twins from acquiring or developing other good players. Developing good players is needed whether we sign free agents or not. Sitting around waiting for the stars to align and our farm system to win us a World Series isn't going to work, IMO. It certainly hasn't for decades. Hasn't even won us a single postseason game in a long long time. When I watched the postseason, what I saw was teams with superstars mixed in. Players much better than average. Get some. Find more. Don't let opportunities to get one go by easily.
  18. I'm gonna need more than your word on this.
  19. Not sure I agree with the logic here, Aggies. "Don't sign good players because we don't have enough good players."
  20. Quite the defender too. In fact, he got to the point he could properly position himself to intercept throws from the outfield without as much as a single day of practice. That's right...he made cold cuts.
  21. Brock: we need a "groan" emoji. Also: it should be noted Hrbek hit a home run with the based loaded in that world series. That's right...wait for it...a GRAND SALAMI!
