  1. Polanco is likely SEATTLE'S 3 hole hitter. And if they targeted an A ball outfielder as a way to add the starter EVERYone agreed they were targeting....well, let's just say that didn't happen. They were trying to add a starter. That's what they attempted. They just didn't do very well.
  2. Your contention is Falvine traded a guy slated to hit third for a post season contender, for a 30+ year old reliever with 1 year of decent history? Yeah, no. They traded Polanco for the starting pitching everyone, EVERYone, said all fall and winter they needed. And still do need, BTW.
  3. I obviously can't prove it, but I'm gonna go out on a pretty strong limb here and claim Oliva lived at or near the top of the league in exit velo. His signature hit was a screaming line drive to right that would get to the wall almost before the RFer could take his first step.
  4. It was only 254 PAs, but yes, Wallner was one of the Twins best hitters last year. .249/.370/.507. 877 OPS, 139 OPS+. Only Lewis beat that, and in even fewer PAs.
  5. Sands to St Paul seems pretty obvious, to me at least.
  6. This is such a bad take. Obtaining a starter was clearly the goal in trading Polanco. Just because they got a bad one doesn't change that. DeSclafani was the target of that trade, without him there's no deal. The rest was filler.
  7. I keep reading this and I think to myself, how stupid do you think this front office is? They didn't trade Polanco for Topa and an A ball outfielder. They clearly targeted a starting pitcher in the Polanco trade. It was (and is) the glaring hole in the roster. That they got a very iffy one, to which more needed to be added, doesn't change what Polanco was dealt for.
  8. Warm climes? Like Ft Myers Florida? Anywho, as to the OP, I generally am less optimistic about this team in 2024 than most here, and the slow start to ST certainly hasn't changed my mind. I don't think adding aging Carlos Santana, Desclafani, Paddack, and a bunch of iffy relievers improved last years team. And we're counting pretty heavily on multiple youngsters to prove last year was real.
  9. Only need the punch line: "you go back up there and tell off that bus driver. I'll watch the monkey."
  10. By that logic, every beer eventually ends up a waste.
  11. He's only just begun.
  12. From the OP: "Last year, the Twins made a bit less than $60M from their TV deal." They made $54M, as has been widely reported both here and in multiple places. Here's one: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sportico.com/business/media/2024/diamond-rsn-rangers-guardians-twins-tv-deals-2024-mlb-1234765268/amp/ Simple facts cant be so casually disregarded. TD can do better than this.
  13. Pro tip: you can't go far wrong if you NEVER take Ash seriously.
  14. I think you mean the sarcasm police. The censor police delete censors.
  15. Wallner's not starting the year in St Paul.
  16. I'm no expert, but it seems to me sac bunting won't result in more runs scored if followed by "back to back strikeouts." Take me through how that works, please.
  17. I dunno about horses, but how about an orangutan? Think about it...HAS hands. Long arms that should generate the velo that's all the rage these days. No need to redesign uniforms. Body hair no worse than Gary Gaetti. Obvious "Every Which Way But Loose" movie night promos.
  18. Camargo came along with Kenta Maeda from the Dodgers before the 2020 season. Brusdar Graterol, Luke Raley and a draft pick went the other way.
  19. For the record, it wasn't "a few terrible starts" for Ryan in the second half last year. 6.09 ERA, 1.48 WHIP. He was trusted for 2 innings in his only post season start. He was pretty awful in the second half last year.
