    This article has nothing to do with strikeouts. It has to do with swinging at pitches outside the zone. It has to do with not swinging at pitches IN the zone, and/or not hitting pitches in the zone hard. The author seems to be implying more strikeouts would improve Larnach's performance Nothing could be further from the truth. Not swinging at balls, and punishing strikes, would improve his output.

    Per Gleeman: last night's announced attendance of 10240 was the smallest since April 30, 2002 at the dome. Quite the turnaround since the excitement of winning their first playoff series roughly 18 months ago. Possibly the worst business management decisions since "new Coke." They've seemingly done everything in their power to turn people away since then, starting with "right sizing" payroll before the echos of the postseason crowd had even settled.

    It'd be nice if we had a GD manager who ensured what they think they want is actually what they get. That makes sure the team understands, practices and VALUES playing defense crispy and effectively. And the clown show last night isnt an isolated incident. This complete lack of execution of the principles of playing the game of baseball is a reflection of the front office and more directly, the manager. It shows up in multiple ways day in and day out. They can't control opponents on the base paths, and they dont really even try. They can't execute simple defensive plays. They never, ever try to advance runners when they're in a close game. Anybody can play anywhere. Catchers play every other day no matter what. 5 innings from the starter, no matter what. Nobody has an actual role in the pen. And in and on. Yes, they're short of offensive talent. But they compound that issue with utterly awful management. A manager or leader, in any walk of life, tends to get the level of performance from his team that he/she allows.

    Add to that basically none of these 26-29 year olds get to the big leagues with a position to play. Freeking Royce Lewis, a number 1 overall pick, the star of your minor leagues for over half a decade, with several years of big league time now, STILL doesn't have an established position. Criminal

    How the hell is it possible a major league team can't execute a simple cutoff play to the point theres nobody covering 2nd base on a ball to the gap in right center?? Comically inept manager.

    Funderburk doesn't have the command to consistently pitch effectively in the show. He doesn't have the quality of stuff to overcome that weakness. I doubt he ever will. Just a space filler.
