  1. Agree with your take on Bechtold. A .406 OBP is impressive, especially if it comes with some power in the future. Funny you mentioned the Royals. Every time I see the name Whitefield I think of Whit Merrifield.
  2. Can't remember, Seth....did Cody Stashak make your top 50 the last time you did this ranking? Doesn't look like he'll make the cut this time. Guess he just had an "ok" year at Fort Myers plus some new 2017 draftees are going to push some folks down in the rankings. Think he has a chance if he stays healthy though. Only 23 years old, but will need to make a solid move forward in 2018.
  3. The Rangers scared me the most before I looked at these schedules. Now seeing that they play Oakland 7 more times, they REALLY scare me.
  4. Just for fun I looked up Erik Lis and it appears he's in his first year as the hitting coach for the Windy City ThunderBolts (Crestwood, Ill) of the independent Frontier League. Just kind of an interesting sidebar.
  5. Seth - need to flip the Jackson/Chattanooga score. Backwards... Another question. Aaron Slegers...what do you think the Twins will do with him on Sept 1 if the Wings look playoff bound? I know Falvey/Levine have said the Twins come first, but after losing Tim Melville Rochester's rotation could be a little thin if they win the wildcard game. They have Gonsalves, Hurlbut and Jorge, besides Slegers. Also, if Slegers isn't called up within 20 days they'll burn an option on him. Perhaps the Twins aren't too worried about that.
  6. That top photo by Steve B.... think you found the cover for the next Twins Prospect Handbook. Great shot of Royce!
  7. Could be a AAAA guy. But yep, the way he's pitched lately he deserves a shot at the major league level.
  8. Aaron Slegers, man! Last three games combined before today's gem: 21.2 IP, 15 H, 15 K, 2 BB, 1 ER, .0.42 ERA, .78 WHIP If that's not the Twins Daily starting pitcher for July the award should be retired! I know the strikeout numbers (lack of) concerns some. But get him on the 40-man, call him up and let's see what he has.
  9. White Sox just called. They just put in a claim for 2019-2022 as their winning window in the AL Central.
  10. I've been on the Zack Cozart bandwagon for awhile now. If the Twins felt they could sign him to a 3-year extension could they then flip Nick Gordon in a bigger deal for a controllable starting pitcher? Cozart could hold down the fort at SS till someone like Jermaine Pelacios is ready in a couple years. The only issue with Cozart is his injury history, but otherwise he's a quality player. I like Scott Feldman as a backend rotation guy, but yeah, his DL stint is going to slow his trade interest down until August.
  11. Perhaps the surgeons forgot to attach Nick Burdi's new UCL on one end. Could see why the Braves would have issues with that.
  12. Agree. Braves already have Dansby Swanson entrenched at SS and also have Ozzie Albies. No need for Vielma at this point.
  13. Those are pretty much the same comps I came up with regards to the Nats trade. I was thinking Duffey, Blankenhorn, Thorpe. I would hate to give up Blanky though, think he could be really good.
  14. I mean, who needs to go scout the big universities like LSU, Florida or Vanderbilt looking for pitchers to draft, when you can just go to.....Westmont College.
  15. Seems like Dereck Rodriguez would be the type of guy that would be included in a trade package if the Twins were buyers at the deadline. Especially if there is a numbers crunch as far as adding to the 40-man in November. Would hate to lose him via free agency. Try to extract some value while you can.
  16. Zack Granite could go 0 for his next 49 and still be hitting .300. What a season for him.
  17. Griffin Jax is pitching for E-Town tomorrow night? Did he get his Air Force military duties resolved for now?
  18. For the longest time in this game I thought the Twins were going to regret stranding Grossman at 3B with less than two outs in the first inning. With a guy like Kluber you need to squeeze every little bit of juice out of the lemon when you get the chance. Sure enough, Kluber got rolling (with Larry Vanover's help) and the next thing you know Cleveland has it tied up late in the game. Fortunately, Dozier and Gimenez bailed us out!
  19. Let's see if Kendrick and Cabbage can get untracked and make some noise at E-Town. Hopefully they will. Griffin Jax..,Will be interesting to see how that plays out.
  20. So we got Gee. Anyone for a Doug Fister flier? The more, the merrier.
  21. For those putting together top-10 (or 15) lists I'd keep a spot open for Jelfry Marte come July. Sounds like pretty much a done deal on the international FA from D.R. True superstar potential, I think. Need to be patient though, probably starts out in the DSL this year. Gordon, Javier, Vielma, Lewis, Palacios, Marte..... Twins should change their moniker to the "Minnesota Shortstops-R-Us".
  22. Ha! You forgot Joe Benson and Hudson Boyd in that #16 tie!
  23. Randy Rosario? Any thoughts on him? I haven't checked his stats since he was optioned back to the Lookouts. Maybe he's young enough that a little more AA time wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
  24. Don't have the Friday night numbers included, but here are Rortvedt numbers for June: In 32 plate appearances Slash line of .296/.406/.370 (.777 OPS) 2 doubles, 6 RBI, 5 K, 4 BB Again, you can add to that a couple walks and a 1 for 2 night on Friday. Hopefully, the kid is heading in the right direction with the stick.
