  1. "In addition, the plan, which requires no state funding, calls for the Twins to assume all operation and maintenance costs, as well as any cost overruns on the ballpark. The Twins must also commit to a 30-year, no-escape use agreement. Additionally, should the Twins be sold prior to 2016, the public will share in the proceeds of the sale." I read that as the Pohlad's can sell now. Carl paid $44M for the Twins in 1984. Current value according to Forbes is $490M. If I'm a businessman like Jim Pohlad, I'd find around 450 million+ reasons to sell.
  2. Or, maybe a more likely scenario: The Pohlad brothers never seemed to love Twins baseball like Carl did. The firing of Terry Ryan is the beginning of the Pohlad's prepping of the Twins for sale.
  3. I don't believe Kim Ng would be foolish enough to leave her Senior Vice-President for Baseball Operations with Major League Baseball gig for a shot at the GM position for the lowly MN Twins. Need one of those young people with all their hopes, dreams and aspirations just waiting to be crushed
  4. I don't think Ryan was fired over anything other than, what is it: a 5th 90 loss season in the past 6 years.
  5. OMG, I thought you were joking!!! Kinda sad to see. Right call, but who's the "right" guy? Interim basis: assistant GM Rob Antony http://www.startribune.com/terry-ryan-relieved-of-duties-as-twins-gm/387293961/
  6. Personally, defensively, I don't see those tools. This past weekend kinda wrapped that up for me. He was replaced by Nunez in the last Indians game. http://www.twinkietown.com/2016/7/18/12209588/is-miguel-sano-broken-minnesota-twins-third-base-trevor-plouffe-terry-ryan Sano has 7 errors in 8 games at 3rd this year. 38 games in RF: 3 errors. That author says some of the problems in RF did not manifest into errors. Fair enough. I would say the same thing about his play at 3rd. Offensively: that's sort of disappeared. Don't know what's happening there, but a break was the right call. I'd say Sano's self-evident tool is as a DH. Edit: if I came over as harsh, I didn't mean it that way. Just an observation....
  7. Eduardo Nunez is not THE shortstop. 41 games at SS 33 at 3rd 5 at 2nd 4 at DH He is still a utility player. He's not just in the lineup because of his offense [but still a big part], it's because of the failures of others, some injury related, some just bad performances. This season is a loss; there isn't even a question about it. The influx of MiLB players that began in the 1st half will continue in the 2nd. Maybe even escalated. If this doesn't signal an exit for Nunez [which I don't think is a guarantee by any stretch of the imagination] then I'd like to know whom. After watching Dozier try to tag out a guy returning to 2nd on the back instead of a sweep tag on his arm/hand, he's my 1st choice to go. EDIT: Upon further review of yesterday's pitching, I'd add Gibson to the list. But that's not what this thread is about....
  8. Ok, on that Suzuki trade: toss in Ramirez.
  9. Well, not ever. Just the last couple decades
  10. Baseball player's are so temperamental now. In the good ole' days, we just got together and talked about it.
  11. yeah, it's turning into one of those games....
  12. Man, you just killed that joke. Not in a good way...
  13. Three guys, stranded on a desert island, find a magic lantern containing a genie, who grants them each one wish. The first guy wishes he was off the island and back home. The second guy wishes the same.
  14. GIBSON!!! PITCHERS PITCH! THIS AIN'T SOCCER!
  15. Nah, he's just tired from dragging around that lead glove he was using yesterday
  16. Nice first inning, Gibson. 8 more to go. Don't mess it up.
