  1. Put me in the camp that Polanco should be playing in MN regardless, so if sending Dozier down is the easiest way to make sure the manager does that, then sure. I guess I mean it more as "sending him down isn't going to "fix" him".
  2. I go back to the Fangraphs article that's been posted here from pre-2015. Some guys "sell-out" by trying to yank every pitch to extend their careers... Dozier just had to do that even earlier, to have a career. I think he is stubborn, but at the same time I'm not sure he has the physical skills to be a complete hitter
  3. Carpenter is going to 2B it sounds like, Peralta was activated to play 3B
  4. You realize his job relies mainly on physical ability / talent, and (most of) ours doesn't? Physical ability and talent decrease when you reach high 20's, 30's.
  5. This is actually the exact thing the FO has been doing which has created the mess the team is currently in.
  6. That's not an accurate analogy at all, unless your job is professional baseball and you're incapable of doing anything but selling out to pull the ball down the line.
  7. Kolten Wong is 25, Brian Dozier is 29... unfortunately I think the latter just is what he is at this point. If he was capable of fixing his issues (hitting the ball to right), he would do it. I'm not really sure what is to be gained by sending him to AAA.
  8. He's going to strike out more than his previous career high in 2013 because he is going to get to the plate more often. His 2013 K rate was 15.2%, It's 15.4% this year. Right around the career average of 13.5%
  9. In what way? Other than they both have BABIP's quite a bit higher than their career averages this season I don't see any similarities. Zobrist walks (12.3% career, 16.7% this year), Nunez doesn't (5.1% career, 3.1% this year). Career OBP Zobrist .358. Nunez .316. Career Slg% Zobrist .434 Nunez .406. ISO. Zobrist .166, Nunez .130. Zobrist, switch hitter. Nunez, RHH. They both have played more than 1 position?
  10. Packaging under-performing vets with Bad pitchers making way too much money does not increase trade value. It makes those under-performing vets untradeable.
  11. Valencia has slugged over .500 every year since leaving the Twins, with the exception of his age 29 season split between franchises. He played with the Twins in 2012, and 2014 was the exception he made.
  12. I'll take that bet. Back to school, football season starting, and potentially a 40-100 record, you think Polanco, Rosario, Gibson and Duffey are going to sell tickets? Only diehards that frequent a message board like this have any interest in those types of names (I wouldn't pay $1 to watch Eddie Rosario swing at 58 foot breaking balls). And I don't know about anyone else, but I'll buy a $2 ticket on Stubhub rather than through the box office if I decide to go see Berrios face a playoff contender in September. The stadium will be EMPTY in September (and likely August, other than perfect summer nights)
  13. I'm not sure in what world (other than in Twins Daily) a relievers 2 month numbers are an accurate sample size. He's literally faced less Lefties this entire season than Nolasco faced Batters on Friday 2013-2015 .256/.309/.407 (vs lefties) .204/.279/.321 (vs righties) Nothing about his numbers scream LOOGY
  14. It should be pointed out, Molitor did the exact same thing on Friday night. He left a tired Nolasco (107 pitches) face Miller for the 4TH TIME with runners on 1st + 3rd with 2 outs, rather than bring in Abad to get him.
  15. Nunez + Nolasco or Nunez + Hughes have 0 trade value. You couldn't even get a team to accept both of them, let alone give you a prospect in return. If you want the Pohlad's to get financial relief, you would have to attach a high end prospect to Hughes to get anyone to take on that contract. Why would anyone want this?
  16. Unless the hangnail caused the cancer this analogy really doesn't work. Like it or not, enough of these moments are playing a role in why this team is 16-40.
  17. That's my guess as well... I think Nunez bunted the 2nd pitch of the at bat... so we are assuming he missed a steal sign then? Because I for one don't want him running on the 1st pitch vs a reliever who's move he's probably never seen with the hottest hitter on the team up to bat. Even putting 1% blame on Buxton is absurd, unless the manager said he missed a steal sign
  18. I wasn't watching at the time, but how exactly was this Buxton's fault? Are we just at the point of blaming him for everything?
  19. Valencia has a .908 ops since June 1 last year, Escobars is .794. Not really comparable to Plouffe. Valencia has a 147 wRC+, Plouffe is 85. This isn't a small sample size (Flores' 60 at bats this year is... Though I'm not th biggest fan of his I don't think he's any worse of an option than Plouffe) As for defense, I can't say I watch a ton of A's and Angels games, but you're watching different Twins games than me if you think Plouffe's D is in any way a positive... I would say it's average if I'm being kind. Edit: "He's hurt" is a guess, you are right. If its an inaccurate guess, what's the answer for a .526 OPS since returning from the DL. He's old? He stinks?
  20. Right, Kepler and Polanco are sorely needed in this lineup because they seem to have on base skills, something the rest of the lineup lacks. Once Sano is healthy, if Plouffe can't be traded by then... Plouffe sits vs RHP, Arcia (LF or DH.. Grossman or Park to bench) Kepler (RF) and Sano (3B) play. Arcia sits vs LHP, Plouffe (3B), Sano (RF), Kepler (LF) all play
  21. This was kind of my point. This just isn't true at all. He forced them into a box with Sano, their most important asset, is costing them $7 million (hello Bullpen help), and has been TERRIBLE. On a team that does not need his specific skill set in the least (Right handed, Little power, no on base skills). Obviously the whole team has been a trainwreck, but lets not act like people who said to give him away weren't correct in that this would be a better team with Kepler in RF and Sano at 3b
  22. 1) He's likely hurt. 2) He's hitting .246/.277/.362 and those numbers don't look a whole lot better if you make the sample size the past year. He's an average at best option in the field. 3) Danny Valencia, Yunel Escobar, and others are also under optional team control for next year, and better players than Plouffe. 4) Wilmer Flores costs them nothing, and is likely to match any production Plouffe would provide. Dilson Herrera is a decently thought of prospect available to play 2B, with a shift of Walker to 3B.
  23. I'm all for Ryan trying to act now. But you aren't listing any reason why the Mets would want Plouffe. He's better than the internal options, or other 5+ 3rd baseman seemingly "available"?
  24. That misses the previous posters point. Nathan didn't pitch with Guardado, Balfour or Hawkins. In '02 + '03 Hawkins, Balfour, Rincon and Guardado were together. Rincon wasn't good yet, Balfour was never good as a Twin (not sure why he's included in here). Hawkins and Guardado were good those years. Hardly a dominant bullpen that could even be mentioned in the same breath as what the Royals are doing
