  1. I would rather him learn to hit, since he's going to be (and should be) swinging the bat, not bunting.. 99% of the time
  2. Buxton not being able to bunt is something like issue # 1,000 for this team. Such a beaten to death meaningless debate
  3. Right, but that happened pretty early on in the offseason, so I'm just taking that as a given. That could've theoretically worked out ok if they had any notion of a plan beyond that (and if Park could hit a Major League fastball)
  4. I don't understand. Are you suggesting they should've traded Sano or Kepler, since they were the 2 most effected by keeping Plouffe? Why would they have done that? Plouffe isn't good.
  5. Plouffe Suzuki Milone Kintzler Return isn't really important *Not including Danny Santana because I don't want to get my hopes up
  6. I believe you that Deron Johnson is well respected in baseball circles. I'm sure he will find a job elsewhere if the new GM cleans house. I highly doubt any team is considering him as a GM right now, though.
  7. Because so many Terry Ryan disciples have climbed the ladder in other organizations already? Don't know much about Billy Ryan, but I'm all for names like that to be in the mix.
  8. For the 100th time, it wasn't about the market or what you could bring back. It was simply about opening a roster spot. The return didn't matter, it wouldn't be great because Plouffe isn't a great player. Him not being on the team (opening the door for Kepler in RF and Sano at 3B) was all that it was about
  9. Park and Vargas haven't proven to be Major League caliber hitters. Plouffe won't be back next season. I don't see a roster crunch. There will be room for Polanco via a Dozier trade, the new regime deciding he can play SS, or the new regime deciding Sano should DH.
  10. They likely paid more like $200k...they aren't hiring Antony.
  11. Ventura was behind him, not a big surprise. He seems pretty similar to Molitor in the former player with no experience sense, but with a longer track record of sucking. Gibbons was ranked 30th which was a surprise. I don't watch a bunch of Blue Jays games, and was certainly not impressed with his playoff performance, but that seems a tad harsh
  12. It likely will be a no-name, but one they'll be able to sell as different, new plan, etc. I agree and disagree on finish to 2016.. I think the casual fan is already lost, I think they stopped paying attention in June. The hardcore fan may be encouraged by the August/September strong finish, but at the same time is probably more likely to already have a negative perception of Antony (Twins Daily frequenters, etc)
  13. Well the parallel is this time, Taylor used the search firm, same one Pohlad is using. I think we can all agree its likely the Search Firm is going to come up with 10+ names of candidates interested in the job, whose qualifications dwarf Antony's.. I just don't see anyway Pohlad and DSP look at that list and decide on Antony. Ignoring the public perception, and plummeting attendance numbers. Which also is largely in favor of a major shakeup
  14. Glen Taylor didn't screw it up, Glen Taylor didn't screw it up, Glen Taylor didn't screw it up. I just keep repeating that to myself.
  15. It is not going to be Antony. I really think its less than a 1% chance. They did not fire Terry Ryan who they all loved to keep the status quo
  16. http://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/17235632/which-mlb-skippers-do-well-no-1 Ranking MLB Managers 1-30. Behind a paywall, but Molitor comes in at #28.
  17. I forgot they did it with him. I was thinking Hicks + Arcia, didn't they both get that treatment?
  18. They'll punish him by sending him home at the end of Rochester's season, they've had such good results with that in the past
  19. To take this one further, this particular stint, and the one in the Majors back in April.. .it seems more like "7 plate appearances".. "only 1 hit and 3 strikeouts? back to the bench.".. over and over and over. Take being brand new the Majors, struggling with immensely high expectations and pressure, struggling, and then add in the fact you know if you go 0-3 you are back on the bench the next night.. Insanity. I know there were slight injuries, and don't recall when each one was. But July Game log Played 5 straight games, June 28-July 2 (5-20, 3xbh) Sat 2 games Played July 5 (2-3 bb, 2x2b) Sat Played July 7, Def replacement July 8 (1-4, bb) Sat July 9+10 Played 2 games Sat 1 Played 3 games Sat 1 Played 4 games Sat 1 Played 3 games, replacement in 1 Sat 3 Played 2 games Sat 2
  20. I have no doubt Brunansky has been working with Buxton this season, and I know were only privy to the information shared in the media.. but I can't be the only one who finds it curious just how little we hear about what they are working on with Buxton, etc. Seems like one of the top 3 storylines during a 90+ loss season would be all the time the hitting coach is spending with a bottoming out Buxton... but there has been just nothing.
  21. You haven't read through the hundreds of posts about Buxton close enough then, plenty have
  22. I was replying because you acted like Bradley didn't struggle as much as Buxton, he actually struggled just as much, if not more, over a larger sample. Agree neither were ready, and I think Buxton has been coached poorly
  23. Yes we can have higher expectations. But if you're going to have extremely high expectations, and then choose to write that player off after 350 plate appearances, you might be disappointed more often than not
  24. Through 576 plate appearances Bradley Jr. had a 47 wRC+. Hmm.
  25. I lean towards the latter, seeing as the "25th" man plays nearly every night
