  1. Wow. First time I've ever had a wrong take on this website Happy to be wrong on that one
  2. Berrios might have the best pickoff move in the league... Also, he's safe
  3. Just getting back from a long day...nice to see the Twins on top. Looks like Garlick is having a nice day once again, and sounds like Garv sauce has made some solid contact. How has Kepler looked vs the lefty?
  4. I know this is a joke, but in all seriousness I hope to see garlick in the lineup the next 2 days against a lefty. He looked like he was locked in and hit two balls hard off of Boyd in a day where not many did. I’d much rather have him in the outfield against a lefty instead of Kepler or Cave.
  5. Game lacked quite a bit of energy once again, but we got the win. 2 of 3 is exactly what we need against teams like the tigers with an occasional sweep. Maeda hasn’t been sharp all year but hasn’t been giving up runs. Robles looks like a steal for 2 million dollars. Polo best swings of the year. Garlick looks like he belongs vs LHP. Simbas fielding is as good as advertised. Colome wasn’t throwing well today, but got the job done. Twins win!!
  6. No way I send Maeda out for another inning.
  7. JORGE!!!!!! Watching Cruz run is amazing. Looks just like me
  8. Willians...the perfect hitter for a runner on third and <2 outs. Atta boy
  9. I don't disagree, but he still isn't fast. Sprint speed last year was 26.3. For reference, Ehire was 26.2, and Sano 26.5
  10. Please tell me that Buxton is in CF. Please
  11. Interesting lineup, but it makes perfect sense. Hope we crush Boyd and Maeda cruises
  12. Overall not a very good day. Got Mize out of the game early, but let him off the hook and let a taxed bullpen give up only 2R over 6 innings. I know it's a SSS, but Rooker has not looked good thus far. Hopefully AK is making strides in St. Paul. MMQB, but have to send Polo on the Cruz single if you're going to turn around and send him on a contact play. It's baseball, it happens. Have to win tomorrow.
  13. Starting to think we should've kept this kid around. Not a very good day. Happ labored all day, Stashak was bad, and the at bats were pretty poor against a taxed bullpen. That's baseball. It happens. Gotta take 2 of 3 from these guys tomorrow.
  14. Not a huge fan of using Rogers here. Would prefer to save our strike out arm for the 10th inning, but I understand you have to get there. Still would like to see Colome here and Rogers in the 10th
  15. Since my last game thread intro, the Twins have went on a run to win three ballgames in a row, and looking dang good doing so. The starting pitching has been fantastic, and the bats have come around the past two games. There is always the cloud of injuries over our head, but that is the life of being a Minnesota sports fan. Let's get into game 2 of the midweek series with Detroit. The Pitchers - LHP J.A. Happ (2-2, 3.47 ERA, 42 K's, 49.1 IP) vs RHP Casey Mize (0-3, 6.99 ERA, 26 K's, 28.1 IP) The Twins turn to offseason free agent signee J.A Happ to round out their rotation. The lefty has bounced around the league during his long career, most recently playing for the Yankees. Happ is a good backend starter who will go out and eat innings. However, his FIP was over a run higher than his ERA last year, so there is room for some negative regression. Happ relies on a low 90's 4 seam fastball (44%) which is used to attack righties, while he uses a sinker (22%) to attack lefties. You will see him get the most swings and misses with the slider, and will occasionally go to the changeup against RHH. He did not throw it at all against a lefty last year. Mize, a name we've seen on top 100 prospects boards, is making his first start of the season. He struggled mightily last year, and did not have a good spring despite facing the average hitter below an AAA level, per baseball reference. Twins hitters should be able to feast on his hittable fastball variations, especially if the curveball is going to keep getting crushed. The Lineups Twins 2B Luis Arraez L SS J. Polanco S DH Nelson Cruz R RF Max Kepler L LF Brent Rooker R CF Jake Cave L 1B Miguel Sano R 3B W. Astudillo R C Ryan Jeffers R Tigers LF Niko Goodrum S SS Willi Castro S 1B M. Cabrera R 3B J. Candelario S DH Wilson Ramos R RF R. Grossman S 2B J. Schoop R C G. Greiner R CF JaCoby Jones R Arraez gets the nod once again despite being removed from yesterdays game after a weird at-bat which saw him grabbing his chest. Simmons gets his first day off of the season which means Polanco slides back over to SS. Kepler slides up to the four spot today which slides Rooker and Cave both down a spot. I find it interested that Garlick got the nod on the 26 man roster, but Rooker has been starting over him. Buxton is still out of the lineup, but Rocco has provided some good updates. I expect him back in the lineup tomorrow, and possibly as a defensive substation if todays game is close. Willians is at the hot corner after a great game off the bench yesterday, and Jeffers is the first catcher to start 2 games in a row. It is worth noting the Twins face 3 upcoming lefties, which is likely the reason for this. The Tigers start all RHH or switch hitting players. Happ did gave up an OPS in the high 600's last year vs RHH, which is very good for Happ. The only notable thing from the Tigers lineup is the lack of Akil Baddoo, who is off to a blazing hot start after the Tigers took him in the R5 draft from the Twins. This Day in History - 1973: At the Oakland Coliseum, Tony Oliva becomes the first designated hitter ever to homer. The Twins DH's first-inning two-run round-tripper off future Hall of Famer Catfish Hunter helps the team defeat the A's, 8-3. Pick to Click: Sano bomba Prediction: Twins 7, Tigers 4 Go Twins!!!
  16. tWINs!! Tough game to reach too many conclusions on. Urena was absolutely horrible and after that they were just trying to get through the game. Shoemaker looked really good, will be huge if he can give us 15-20 starts this year. Quality at bats all day. Dobnak didn't look very good, but it's hard to stay locked in during a 14 run lead. Oh, and Nelson Cruz is still really, really good. Until tomorrow!
