    If some actual proven quality is added to the MLB bullpen roster this offseason, this move is a low risk/high reward thing. If this is the start of the scrap heap that Ryan hopes to form a bullpen from then it's disappointing. Time will tell what he has in mind. History does not leave me with much optimism.

    You could do a lot worse than Morneau as your regular full time DH. Actually, looking at this season as an example, I think we did. I see no harm in paying him 9 mil on a 1 year deal. Especially if they move Plouffe and hand 3B to Sano. Go get a stud pen arm and find a way to land Lucroy.     In my mind, upgrading shortstop is not our lowest hanging fruit. Plug Esco in and leave him alone for the forseable future. Focus on other areas of need.

    I would not mind if Hunter stayed around next year as a bench bat. He would have ben a better pinch hit option than what we have now. It's sort of a shame that bench bats and bullpen don't seem to be given much attention.

    The percentages I chose to use were arbitrary. My point is that what's best for the overall group is an additional consideration to be made. Not to minimize other factors at all. Those are also real important.
