  1. I believe what homer hankey meant is that Sano and Mauer rotate between 1b and dh with both in the lineup together. As for trading Park, anyone is tradeable for the right price.
  2. I don't like him in the outfield. I think it's an injury waiting to happen. I think it's poor asset management and unnecessary risk with a cornerstone type player. I would move other pieces around to accommodate my premier players. Not the other way around.
  3. I think Terry Ryan must feel optimistic that some of these young guys are ready to be pulled out of the oven and placed on a serving tray. That should make for a very exciting spring training!
  4. I was thinking the same thing. How cool would it be if all 3 emerged! We would have to keep a fire extinguisher in the bullpen!!
  5. You can stick your head up a bulls arse to check the meat or you can just take the butcher's word for it.
  6. If I were the coach, and Berrios came to camp looking sharp and coming off a great season, I would have a very hard time looking him in the eye and telling him to go to the minors. I want all my guys to work hard in the offseason(check), put up really good results in the minors(check), be hard workers(check) and be a good teammate(check). If you want players to have the team's best interest in mind you need to show the player that the team also has his best interest in mind. Also, if you have these expectations of your players, it probably bodes well for morale to reward a player when he achieves what you are asking of him. I think he could help the team win a few more games right at the beginning of the season as well. But, we'll see what happens. I'm not criticizing the Twins or anything. Just kicking out some of my thoughts on the matter.
  7. I don't advocate one way or another. My point is that he is in a tough spot both for himself and for the team. The guy has to try and get on track in the majors since he is out of options. Hard for him and hard for the team. I also hope that he has success.
  8. Arcia is in a tough spot. His play last year does not warrant a roster spot. If he get's a spot, he won't get the reps to turn the corner on his career and he will likely be overmatched. The guy needs more time in AA/AAA to find his groove at this juncture. I don't see him making the team as ending up as being a positive for him or for the team.
  9. I completely agree with this statement. Yet, I couldn't disagree more.
  10. I see no problem with leaving the cupboard a little overstocked short term until a favorable return surfaces.
  11. These are great problems to have. I'm very excited to see it play out. Having said that, I believe they will error on the side of giving those guys who are out of options a longer leash so that this depth stays in tact until the cream rises to the top with great clarity as opposed to guessing at who those players might be. I can understand where patience can be a heavy contributor to the long term.
  12. Haaaaaa!!!! I am laughing out loud at the new term describing poor performing vets getting a season long spot as being "Pelfreyed!" I hope the term sticks. I like it!!!
  13. Would it be a stretch to bat Escobar leadoff? He seems to grab challenges and run with them. Maybe something like this.... Escobar Dozier Sano Park Mauer Plouffe Murphy Rosario Buxton
  14. I was making a joke about the Twins liking tall pitchers. Obviously, not a very good joke.
  15. Ummmm, Hughes is 6' 5". Perhaps an oversight on your part?
  16. IMHO we need two things to add to our bullpen in order to move May to the starting rotation and call it a net gain. If you move him to the rotation and replace him with one pen arm, we are right where we started overall as a staff. Leave him in the pen and we have the same krappy pen as last year. Replace him in the pen and add one reliever free agent and we have the same krappy pen as last year. Leave him in the pen and add a free agent pen arm and we are slightly better than last year. Basically, regardless of where you put May, in order to have a significantly improved pen, we don't just need 1 arm, we need 2 or 3 for me to have a thread of optimism. Based on what we have as options for starters, I say leave him in the pen and sign 2 more guys. My bold suggestion.........we need a "flamethrower" and a "fireballer." They both need to be able to bring the heat, throw darts and drive tacks. I'm sick of the circus music playing in my head every time the damn bullpen door opens!!! Five years of garbage and I've had my friggin fill! Get with the program Twins!
  17. I say play sano at third and make plouffe a utility guy instead of Nunez.
  18. I like your line of reasoning and agree with you. I like the idea of Buxton, Rosario, Sano and Kepler as our outfielders if we don't trade plouffe. I see Arcia as way behind these 4. If Plouffe is traded I see Kepler as more advanced than Arcia right now.
  19. I hope Arcia can rebound.
  20. I like Dozer behind Mauer too. Hope they do that.
  21. How about trading plouffe for a pen arm and also signing a free agent pen arm?
  22. I could see Benson as the 4th OFER and Santana as the utility IFER with Sano covering 3B at times.
  23. Dozier 2B Mauer 1B Plouffe 3B Sano RF Park DH Rosario LF Murphy C Escobar SS Buxton CF bench- Suzuki, Santana, Nunez
