  1. Rangers seem to like it... 2-0 Them.
  2. Does that mean Texas is trying this opener thing on for size?
  3. "It's a million to one shot... but it just might work!"
  4. I like this opener concept. You mean i don't have to do the bulk of the work if i just start it off? It is like being on top of a mountain, slipping, and seeing the few skittering stones upset more stones until there is a full blown avalanche... Or like a game thread in which i just happen to mention something from a popular movie or singer and... On second thought, i think i'm going to be very careful, and not even mention... oops, almost stepped into that one. So if one of you wants to be the primary game threader, supply yer own thoughts! I do got a line up fer y'all! Twins Gabriel Moya (L) 1. Logan Forsythe (R ) 2B 2. Ehire Adrianza (S) 3B 3. Jorge Polanco (S) SS 4. Robbie Grossman (S) DH 5. Max Kepler (L) RF 6. 5. 4 of the five hits were homeruns, one of which followed 2 of the walks. But there were 2 errors besides what combined with the other hit to result in a semi-inefficient run. Yeah, waste not, want not...
  6. Alas, i was interpretting "homering every 9 plate appearances" both as predictive rather than statistical, and applying it to team plate appearances rather than individual, trying to infer that if they batted him 9th instead, he was bound to homer. And not just his first time up... Here i am making a classic blunder Chief has berated me for in the past, of trying to explain a joke. But this time seemed worth it, at least the morning after. I want understand my joke too...
  7. I don't know about that... I like to try new things once in a while. I am sure he could explain it better.
  8. There went the perfect game, no hitter, and shut out...
  9. So that was what happens to a belt high fastball...
  10. Oh, and i see i am approaching 7k. What is it traditional to post about with that post?
  11. Every 9 plate appearances? And he's batting 8th? So close and yet so far...
  12. I kinda know the song. One of the few requests i've gotten while busking that i kinda succeeded at sounding out. Also some of the pilots sing it in a bar in the movie 30 seconds over Tokyo about the Dolittle raid.
  13. In memory of how they used to always describe rising rookies as needing to "slow the game down" in order to react appropriately to bad hopes and split second decisions... "Making baseball slo'gan!" somehow comes to mind.
  14. Pretty good... Or well, you might say. Matches the slogan up on the farm... 4 feet good... Not sure yet if refers to twins players or bunting.
  15. 1. Are there still barkers in our modern era? Or is it all just slick editting commercials these days? "Ladies and Gentlemen! Step right to the slugfest of the Century as the top two American League Central teams duke it out for a spot in the post season, right in your very own Cleveland! You have never seen anything like the Twins from Minnesota, flaunting the only player to win a batting title while playing catcher in the junior circuit! Streaking Logan Forsythe, the manslaughter's row of Sano, Cave, Kepler, and Austin. And who would have thunk it, they are behind Cleveland in the standings! Some may brush this asside, as not really a race, a contest between haves and havenots*, but do not let that fool you. A tooth and nail, no bars held, knock down drag out kick a bucket of pine tar contest, for sure." 2. I still must work on my patter... What did i miss? 3. While i am not paying attention, be there any juicy waiver wire rumours? Not one? 4. Minor leagues... Some post season action on the horizon, i hear tell... 5. Expanding rosters. Who is everyone excited to see join the big leaguers for some scalding hot line drives and caffinated beverages? Twins Jake Odorizzi ( R) 1. Joe Mauer (L) DH 2. Logan Forsythe (R ) 2B 3. Eddie Rosario (L) LF 4. Miguel Sano (R ) 3B 5. Max Kepler (L) RF 6. Mitch Garver (R ) C 7. Jake Cave (L) CF 8. Tyler Austin (R ) 1B 9. Ehire Adrianza (S) SS Indians Mike Clevinger ( R) 1. Francisco Lindor (S) SS 2. Michael Brantley (L) LF 3. Jose Ramirez (S) 3B 4. Edwin Encarnacion ( R) DH 5. Yonder Alonso (L) 1B 6. Melky Cabrera (S) RF 7. Jason Kipnis (L) 2B 8. Roberto Perez ( R) C 9. Greg Allen (S) CF Gametime Forecast: 76°F • Mostly Cloudy • 0% PoP *-contraction is still a bad word round these parts.
  16. Never been there myself, so i can't say much. Sounds like a very nice island community, though. And if i am not mistaken, it is far enough off shore to benefit from the gulf stream. Being New England and all, it probably had something to do with some of the less savory trades way back when, like whaling. But i suppose if i am feeling like being prolific, i should consider introducing another game thread...
  17. Does this mean i can discuss the Nantucket tourism industry?
  18. Did he clear waivers or something?
  19. Or my name isn't Nathan Arizona... That works.
