Forget about broadcasts sounding like G and G!
I want Gleeman and the Geek to broadcast a game (pipe dream, but good entertainment at least . . . whole meaningless half innings taken over instead by arguments that soon become unclear as to what the argument is about . . .)
I think the tier system is pretty accurate to what goes on. Let's say that the Twins have needs: starting pitchers (including some lefties), third basemen, and catchers. . . is the "BPA" crowd really going to ignore this? I mean if the Twins had a history of trading prospect depth for major league players, that would be one thing. That doesn't really happen too much (though it is true that something's got to give with the OF situation), so all I am saying is that maybe some need-consideration is quite necessary.
Given the state of health for Baker, Gibson, Wimmers, Salcedo, Soliman, etc., and the fact that Pavano, Liriano, Marquis, and Blackburn all either will be gone or suck, it is laughable to think of taking Buxton.
It's the great 1% swindle of the public. Just because it happens everywhere else too doesn't make it right.
How are Minnesota schools doing? Childcare? Healthcare? Welfare programs? Haven't those all faced budget cuts?
And compare that to 2006 in the bullpen! He was dominant. One would think that the goal would be to maximize the dominance from him as opposed to just being terrified every time he started a game. But I have to ask . . . has anyone analyzed his pitches in the first inning vs. the subsequent innings of trouble?
But wouldn't the line drive rate be a sign against this? I still think he is going to homer more than most expect this year, but to do so does require some rest!
Don't get me started on this team signing actual legitimate MLB players instead of assclowns like Clete Thomas. Derrek Lee, Bobby Abreu, Vlad Guerrero, Brandon Inge. Yeah . . . no value there . . . let's sign Clete Thomas . . . and what's actually worse . . . after Thomas is terrible, allowing him to further pollute the farm system in Rochester. My god.
Haha, yeah people like Seth and Aaron Gleeman were pretty adamant about Inge's terribleness. Note that in G and G 39, I believe, Aaron claims that Inge has been terrible for the last five years. That is a blatant falsity. Last year he was bad. 2008 he was below average. Before and in-between? Good. Certainly better than Drew Butera. That is the true replacement here. My god. What a damn joke.
Doumit catching 2 out of every three games for a few weeks is not going to ruin this team any further. Maybe Doumit does that with Mauer at 1B for two weeks. Big deal. No Butera needed.
Every other time I would say, "he's hurt" but this time I think he is in a slump. I guess there is the combination option--he has played a bit too much for a still-majority catcher. A few more days off would have been helpful.
This year is key for him. Steady progress through the system is required here. Give him a taste of AA ball in August and see what happens in 2013. I see September 2014 callup as a possible first appearance in the Show.
Seriously? Some subtlety is required. Talking about coaches from the ages of 5-18 is one thing . . . of course they have a significant impact. The question is not about them, however. While I think the impact of a MLB manager is greater than Nick may indicate here, it is NOT like those coaches when one was a kid.
Meanwhile, Jairo Perez and Danny Santana hang out in Fort Myers. Roof is old. Again, I don't get it. I don't know of a way to access this information about minor league free agents, but there has GOT to be someone under 25 who they could sign to fill that role instead. Using more at bats on players with nothing to offer . . .
