  1. I hope Ortega remembers that third base is open and keeps up the sliders (down and away).
  2. The extra run is huge, but we'll see how this goes. Next question is how willing Rocco will be to use Duran for more than an inning after struggling through 17 pitches last night. Let's hope Ortega makes that moot.
  3. That at bat plate appearance by Buxton looked really good on the radio. A few more of those, please.
  4. I remember the first time I tried one. It was a blast.
  5. Atteberry hasn't mentioned if anyone is warming up. Is there? Gladden hasn't either, but that doesn't give a clue either way.
  6. Just six pitches for Jax. I'd love to see him get the eighth.
  7. Every time Bleday's name gets mentioned, the junior high boy in me wants to make a joke about dropping the "l."
  8. There was a segment on MLB Network earlier this season where they were talking about records that will never be broken, and one of the talking heads made a compelling argument for Bobby Cox's 162 career ejections. With replay, there's much less opportunity to argue. If electronic strike zone ever comes, there will be even less.
  9. Welcome, MAT. Looks like a routine fly to center in the box score, as they sometimes sorta say..
  10. Speaking of, Mrs. IT and I were on a walk outside of town today. Went past a farm that had a sign, "Duck, eggs." I thought, "That's an unnecessary comma." Then it hit me.
  11. Siri kept calling me "Shirley" today. Then I realized my phone was in Airplane mode.
  12. Sorry, not framed in the form of a question.
  13. Sorry -- bet your grandkid can remember when that song came out.
  14. We can pick up more a tenth* of that with eight games (counting tonight) against Oakland and Kansas City. *I apologize in advance.
  15. I enjoyed this post more before the fourth inning.
  16. Speaking of oldies, I think the scariest part of "Born to Be Wild" is when they find a head out on the highway.
  17. I don't disagree that PAs is an indicator of ability, but it also depends on context. Arraez is the type of player that bats leadoff (and he did a lot), so that in itself typically creates extra plate appearances compared to a power hitter. And if this year's team had the number of injuries last year's did, Gallo would have more plate appearances than he does. I was approaching it as, "If everything else stayed the same and you gave 2022 Arraez the plate appearances that 2023 Gallo has gotten, would the team end up with more runs?"
  18. Taylor with both the long and the short of it tonight. Hogan Harris definitely not being a hero for Oakland tonight.
  19. Solano hitting .409 with runners in scoring position. He's real fine. Edit to add: Didn't have the right formula that time.
