  1. Has Randy Rosario been moved to the bullpen in an effort to control his innings this season or is he now being viewed more as a reliever than a starter?
  2. Actually, Mejia took Polonco's place on the roster. (Rochester went from 12 pitchers to 13.) Light takes Berrios' spot on the roster.
  3. Busenitz is already shown on the Lookouts roster. Jay and Hildenberger have been placed on the DL recently. Light should go to Rochester. They have an open roster spot with Berrios getting promoted. With Mejia joining the starting rotation, Rochester could feature an all lefty rotation.
  4. There are a few surprises for me. Chris Cavaness and Bryant Hayman were both undrafted college kids last year who are making the jump to Cedar Rapids. I thought that Brian Olson (34th round pick last year) might make this roster after hitting well at both rookie levels last year. In the outfield, I thought that Daniel Kihle, Brad Hartong, or Austin Diemer would be ahead of Cavaness. Congrats to both of those guys for earning their roster spots. Even though he didn't hit all that well at Elizabethton last year, I had assumed that Alex Perez would make this roster in the infield ahead of the youngster Arraez. I expected Arraez to jump one level to Elizabethton this year. Randy LeBlanc pitched well out of the bullpen for the Kernels last year before getting a few starts late in the season. I was expecting him to start this year in the Miracle bullpen. I wonder if he is just holding the spot until Romero is ready to go, or if the Twins see him as a starter long term. I also thought that Miles Nordgren would land somewhere on this staff after pitching well at Elizabethton last year.
  5. It's now on the Twins website that Benson was released yesterday.
  6. What happened to Joe Benson? Last week he was listed on the AAA DL, but his name isn't included anywhere this week.
  7. What about Jake McGee with Tampa? There were some rumors about him being available last year at the trade deadline before he got hurt. He is under team control for two more years. Made $3.55 million last year.
  8. I realize that this list is only "old friends" who are free agents, but I'd like to throw out the name of another "old friend" for consideration: Michael Cuddyer. Cuddyer is under contract with the Mets for one more year at $12.5 million but appears to have been relegated to a bench role with them for next year. If you believe that Buxton will start the season at AAA and that Arcia will get another shot at right field to start the season, Cuddyer could provide a right handed alternative to Arcia. He could also back up Mauer at first base, see some time at DH, and serve as a bat off of the bench. I think that Cuddyer was considered a positive influence in the clubhouse while with the Twins, so he could help to fill the leadership void left by Hunter's retirement (although I don't know how he is as a dancer). Presumably the Mets would have to be willing to pick up a portion of his contract and not expect much in the way of a prospect in return for this to work.
  9. For position players, I'd like to see Adam Brett Walker, Stuart Turner, and Levi Michael. For pitchers, I'd like to see Alex Meyer go and get some innings in as a starter. Taylor Rodgers went last year but got hurt right away, so I could see him going back again this year. If Kohl Stewart has innings left for this year, I'd like to see him be the Class A exception. I'd finish out the pitchers from the group of Nick Burdi, Brandon Peterson, and Cole Johnson. Although I'd like to see Corey Williams go, I'm not sure how much they'll want to push him in his first year back from surgery.
  10. MiLB.com is reporting that Josmil Pinto has been activated from the disabled list and assigned to the Fort Myers Miracle. I haven't seen anything yet to indicate whether or not he will do any catching or will just DH. Given the time that it has taken him to recover from his concussion, it won't surprise me if he is limited to a DH role the rest of this season. Matt Summers has been taken off of Chattanooga's restricted list and has also been assigned to the Miracle.
  11. One name missing from Seth's list of Twins veterans who could be dealt in August is Kevin Jepson. Would he clear waivers? Would he bring a return comparable to or better than what we gave up to get him?
  12. milb.com is showing that the Twins have released Madison Boer from Chattanooga. Boer was born in Eden Prairie and was the Twins 2nd round pick in the 2011 draft out of the University of Oregon. In 2012 the Twins tried using him as a starter, but he was moved to the bullpen in 2013. He ended his 5 minor league seasons with the Twins organization with a record of 19 wins, 20 losses, 27 saves and a 4.89 ERA.
  13. Round 21 pick Kamran Young (OF) now shows as having signed and been assigned to Elizabethton.
  14. Twins website now shows that Rich Condeelis, P, round 36, and Leon Marrero, OF, round 16 have been signed and assigned to the GCL Twins.
  15. MiLB.com is also showing that Gabe Ojeda ©, Tyler Mautner (3B), Dubal Baez (OF), Frank Encarnacion (OF), and Zach Hayden (P) have been released. We wish them all the best in the future.
  16. I believe that Logan Darnell and Caleb Thielbar are still on the 40 man roster. That being said, my guess is either A.J. Achter or Alex Meyer.
  17. A few days ago Jeremy said that he'd like to see it, and today it happened. J.T. Chargois is promoted to Chattanooga. That's a lot of power arms in that bullpen! To make room for him, Dallas Gallant is sent down to the Miracle.
  18. Looks like David Hurlbut is being promoted from Ft. Myers to Chattanooga, presumably to take Duffy's spot in the rotation. Also, Dalton Hicks finally went on the DL and Jario Rodriguez has joined the Lookouts. I assume that Duffy will join the Rochester rotation, but if so, who is he likely going to replace? Also, I have been wondering about Jason Adam, the pitcher that the Twins received from Kansas City for Josh Willingham last year. I remember seeing that he was injured at the end of spring training, and since he is not listed on any roster I assume that he is rehabbing in extended spring training. Any word on what the nature of his injury is and how long he may be out?
  19. Sorry to see that Kepler is starting the season on the D.L. After battling injuries each of the last two seasons, I'd like to see what he could in a full season. Does anyone know the nature of his injury? I also am looking forward to seeing how Alex Wimmers can do this season healthy and back in the starting rotation.
  20. Last year the Twins regularly (but not always) carried 13 pitchers and 12 position players on their minor league teams. If they follow that mix again this year, I don't see a lot of excess pitching right now. There might be when some of these guys come off the DL. It looks to me like there are more position players at risk right now rather than pitchers.
  21. With Pinto, Fryer and Bernier still to be added to the Rochester roster there are still a few cuts and/or demotions to come. Also I notice that Mike Kvasnicka, Kyle Knudson, and Tony Thomas aren't included in any of the work groups. Have they been released?
