  1. I haven't read any rumors, outside of TD speculation. Anything moving on this front?
  2. In the short term, if Rosario provides some competition for Hicks and gets him some seasoning up here, that is fine with me. His future, if he has one up here is in a corner.
  3. I think we need to give Pelf a 3 year extension this time.
  4. I agree, I doubt Eddie is taking Buxton's spot. The only way I would like to see Sano moved is if he was a disaster at 3B.
  5. I thought the reports on Rosario's defense were good. We just moved him because of Buxton.
  6. My friend asked Terry to handicap CF at Twinsfest. He did not mention Hicks at all. The first name he mentioned was Eddie Rosario. When asked about CF versus a corner, Terry said Eddie is definitely good enough to play CF. He seemed to hint again, at Sano in the OF if Plouffe continues to improve Open to Meyer in the pen. Said last year he was throwing instead of pitching, which caused his location issues. One prospect he thought would make a huge jump is Kohl Stewart. Seemed very high on him. He kept saying Ricky gets a do-over and needs to get straightened out
  7. Nice to hear. A guy that can play all three OF spots and hit is valuable.
  8. I was only calling out the May trade because a case could be made that even if may is a useful reliever we still won that trade. In hindsight we were a lot less deep than we thought, I.e. Hicks and buxton. But I will take a young upside arm that k's guys left and right for a replacement level-esque guy like revere. And even if Meyer doesn't turn out, give me a 22 year old top 30 prospect that throws upper 90's with a great slider for an above average but not all star level 28 year old cf that makes 10 million
  9. Jimmer, b ref has revere at 3.8 career war across basically 4 full seasons. 2.6 of that was in one year. Primarily driven by him playing cf and having a good average and swiping bags. I know you are not saying or even implying this, but that is a trade you want your gm to make all day and live with the results. Some have pointed to that being a bad trade and I don't see how.
  10. My buddy asked terry Ryan today about Meyer making the team out of ST. He said "he can definitely make this team". My friend then asked "if he does not make the rotation, is the pen an option" and terry said "yes, he is 25, we need to get him going". So that sounds encouraging to me
  11. In the case of the May trade, Revere's career OPS is .666, effectively the same as Sam Fuld, about as replacement level as it gets.
  12. Boggling is two tame when I re-think that decision. Even worse so is Terry Ryan has not seen enough regarding Pelfrey as a starter.
  13. For better or worse, Nolasco should be included in the first tier from the standpoint that he will be handed a spot, and frankly will have to pitch very poorly to get to the pen or AAA. He also should be viewed diferently from Pelfrey, he was about a league averager pitcher for 8 years, then had one bad year in which he may have been hurt.
  14. If you back out numbers in Yankee stadium, Hughes has a career sub 4 ERA. The HR rate is about .7. The BB rate is just over 2, and the K rate is 7.5. Even the range you selected, if viewed right shows Hughes and Bike Belfrey on different levels.
  15. I think he gets a few starts this year, if his 2015 resembles anything like his 2014. Those could be meaningless games in September. But come June, you could have a scenario where Pelfrey and Milone are no longer in front of him. Milone was whining last year in AAA for Oakland and could find himself there again. So now you are talking about ineffectiveness/injury of just a couple of guys.
  16. I get the logic and your overall point, but if our coaches reach this conclusion, lets just devote this site to the 2015 and 2016 MLB drafts.
  17. I am generally in agreement. Except I have experienced Ryan/Gardy led trauma by consistently starting the year with three players starting that we all know are terrible and have no shot to be on the team in June. Livan, Bautista, Castro, Ortiz....ahh make is stop.
  18. I think a 6 man rotation 3-4 times through in April makes sense (Meyer and May). Then bump one guy or one will be hurt anyway. Not a bad solution.
  19. My order would be May, Meyer, then Milone. I think they start Meyer where they think is best, between the pen and the ace at AAA. It can't be Pelfrey, it just can't.
  20. I like Gonsalves where you have him. I am equally as high on him.
  21. To expand on this, here is a comp, career road numbers vs. 2014. Granted some of the road numbers were in 2014: Career Road Record 3.79 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, .249 BA, 7.5 K per 9, 2.42 BB per 9, .7 HR per 9 2014 Stats 3.59 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, .265 BA, 8.0 K per 9, .7 BB per 9, .7 HR per 9 The only glaring differences are BB per 9 and WHIP. But the numbers overall are relatively similar. If the K rate and HR rate stay the same and he keeps an improved BA rate.....he could come close to repeating 2014 IMO. In roughly the same amount of innings, he has given up 87 HR at home and 41 at home.
  22. In addition to the psychology, I think his numbers in the new Yankee stadium make his 2014 look like a bigger abberation. Prior to last year, I looked at his ERA outiside of Yankee stadium, it was just over 4.00. Much better than his career 4.50 ERA at the time. His career road numbers, 3.79 ERA, .249 BA, 1.22 WHIP, 7.5 K per 9, 2.42 BB per 9
  23. Why did Gonsalves only get 14 starts last year and 65 IP? Was he hurt? Or just because E Town starts late? If he is healthy I think you could argue a jump up.
  24. Just a guess and speculation. Maybe the three guys were benched because they weren't preparing, were late. Hung over. Something like that. In that scenario, hard to be ticked at Baerga. The owner may have been upset because the fans paid to watch the key guys and Baerga, a vet wanted these guys to learn a lesson and develop.
  25. I get that he will add weight, but he has 21 HR in 900 AB thus far. I see his profile more in the mold of Carl Crawford, 15-20 HR and 60 SB versus say a Mike Trout, 35 HR and 30 SB. For the record, I think his ceiling is a much better player than Crawford. Specifically, the fact that he is a CF and will be outstanding versus a potential liability in a corner like Crawford (the arm will be a huge difference)
