    He didn't start baseball full time until 2+ years ago. I think any time before next year is too soon to make any type of "conclusion" on him, though I always felt this year would be a good indicator. He's 21+ and in AA and not being awful......I'm good with his progress at this point. Others may not be.

    What's a land line* *we got rid of our's years ago.....we almost had to get one so my wife could fax from home (running a new business from there), but we decided if she needs to fax she can spend the big bucks at a store once a quarter....

    I would probably not protect Burdi. Hasn't stayed healthy, and is a RP..... I would not protect Dozier, and roll the die that Polanco can play 2B. ZERO percent chance I leave Stewart unprotected, especially for any RP.

    Or, they might take players they feel they can later trade, so that they have a better understanding of what they need......I think they'd take some high upside guys, but also guys they can trade in a year or two. Actually, if well done....you could build an A's like time, a team with few/no black holes, then buy the top FAs in a year or so (say, 3).....what could you do with that team, how fast?

    I admit to liking Vielma's upside less than I should have in the past. Looking forward to his continued progress!

    I'm not sure the money matters, if they don't carry over money from year to year......they won't be buying FAs next year, it is a terrible class. I do get both sides of the Santana argument, though.

    I don't see any chance Buxton is traded. I know it's not gold....but he was barely in the top 50 most valued assets on Fangraphs trading value chart, last year.....he's a year older, and has shown that, SO FAR, he can't hit MLB pitching. I think he's worth a lot less than his upside right now, and I just can't see how he could possibly be dealt for value. Who is going to give up multiple highly regarded prospects for him right now?

You can squint and see the upside but to me it really does feel like they won't contend until 2018 at the earliest. At that point, Dozier's in his walk year and he's in his early 30s, so he's probably a trade candidate, as tough as that might be to swallow He feels like an offseason trade more than a midseason trade

    Rosario hasn't been a 2B for a couple years, and no, he should not be one. He's an OF. Has been for years.

    Agreed, Seth. This is the hardest of the choices (imo) they have in front of themselves right now. Partly that's on them, for not playing Polanco at all when he comes up, and not having much information. Mostly it's on that Dozier might be part of a good team in 2-3 years.

    It is the roster age, year after year.....if it was about 1-4 players, it wouldn't be the same thing nearly every year. His past criticism is in putting college players in against 17-19 yo HS and South / Central American "kids", and not challenging them early, and then rushing them thru AA and AAA..... I have no idea what the "right" process is....but I think it is fair to question a team that is about to have it's 5th 90+ loss season in 6 years in terms of their process. YMMV, of course. However, I really feel I derailed this thread, and it should be about wishing these guys all good luck and great careers, so I'm done in this thread talking about the other issue. Sorry everyone.

    Maybe people should think about it as a Plouffe for Sano trade........that should make it more palatable.

    If it was case by case, it wouldn't be the same every year. And, if you think you know more than KLAW..... No. He has consistently criticized this approach of not challenging college players, specifically the twins approach.

    I'd do it for any of those players. I don't know the other teams would....but maybe.
