  1. AJ Pierzynski is the second most hated player. So we went from one of the most beloved catcher (Mauer) to hated Pierzynski. I wouldn't like it at all because AJ wants a 2 year deal and probably wants to start at catcher. I realize this guy hit 17 home runs but he also did play in Texas with the short porch. I'm going to guess since he's left handed he hits like 8 Home runs because of TF. Pierzynski is 37 and according to the mlb player poll he "treats pitchers with less than 5 years of experice like peasants". Feel bad for Gibson, Meyer, Deduno, Worley, and etc. I would prefer maybe Salty because he's young or maybe Navaro to a 1 year deal.
  2. I would say if they signed Garza, Jimenez, or E. Santana to a 5 year deal with the additions of Salty on a 3 year deal and Casey Mcgehee (3B) on a 1 year deal I would give it a 8.5 only because I want them to sign Ellsbury, sadly that's not happening.
  3. If we could sign at least one good starting pitcher (Garza, Jimenez, or Ervin Santana) to 4-5 year deal i would be happy because we aren't going to contend in 2014 or posibly even 2015. I would only like to see Scott Baker or Johan Santana join on a short term deal just so when you see them pitch you can think of the good times. If I could have it I would sign Matt Garza to a 4-5 year deal, Scott and Johan to 1 year deals along with Casey Mcgehee 3B (1 year), and Jarred Saltiwhatever C (3 year). our 2014 rotation and Defensive positioning Rotation: Matt Garza Johan Santana Kevin Corriea Scott Baker Samuel Deduno Defensive Positioning: LF Josh Willingham CF Alex Pressly RF Oswaldo Arcia 3B Casey Mcgehee SS Pedro Florimon 2B Brian Dozier 1B Joe Mauer C Salty/Doumit DH Doumit/Salty Bench: SS Jason Bartlett CF Darin Mastroianni C Chris Hermann 1B Chris Collabello Verdict: looks like a family reunion with some new faces. 71-91 4th AL central
  4. The only guys on the market I would give 4-5+ years are: 1.Masahhiro Tanaka 2.Matt Garza 3.Ervin Santana 4.Ubaldo Jimenez 5.Ricky Nolasco (frown) And after Ricky there's not a pitcher who you could sign long term and is solid. The only people I'd give 4 plus are the top four, Nolasco if your desperate. If you ask me I'd prefer the # 2,3,4 guys.
  5. Now just add in Suk-min Yoon and Bronson Arroyo and then I just might have to hibernate this summer.
  6. I have to say, we should contact Milwaukee on Aoki. Aoki is a lead off hitter something the twins need, he's got a good arm and good defense, He has a good amount of speed (20-30 sb guy) and not to mention his team friendly contract as he only makes like 1/23rd of Mauers contract. His flaw is three things: He's getting older up in age (32), doesn't have good RBI or hr numbers, and he's on his finally year of his contract (which means we should get him if we think we can contend in 2014). Who to trade for him... Hmmm... I guess we could give Deduno to them as Deduno is not really a proven starter but has some success in the bigs, or we could give up a relief pitcher maybe Burton as we have some depth in our bullpen. If we were to trade Deduno we could give Gibson, Worley, Diamond, or Hendriks. The thing i like about this trade is that if we did sign ellsbury(doubtful)we could put him in right and move Arcia to left. If I was to make a blueprint this would be on it but my blueprint is crazy I have a very creative imagination. (Note: this trade will not work if we don't plan to try to contend so pretty much 1/75 chance)
  7. Problem with Worley is, drum roll please... He's too fat. He needs to lay off the donuts (he found Gardy's stash). In 2010 when he made his debut he looked pretty fit, hopefully he starts doing sit ups this offseason to lose some of those donuts (fat).
  8. I feel like the only person who thinks we should pick up Ervin Santana and then add Phil Hughes. 2 guys that need a big ball park (target field). Hughes plays in a left handed loving ballpark and Santana plays in Kansas City, there ball park is decently sized but you still give up big flys. Get those guys out of those ball parks and bring them into pitcher friendly target field. Then later next off season pick up Max Scherzer and then you have a really good rotation. 2014 vs. 2015 rotation Santana Scherzer Hughes Santana Deduno Hughes Corriea Deduno ??????? Meyer I think Worley, Diamond, and Hendriks have there last chance showing they can pitch in the bigs. I don't really want to give Kyle Gibson the spot right away I think he would have to earn it through spring training. I don't think any one was impressed with Gibson but he can prove that was just a bad rookie season if he has success in spring. Well I hope for the best, cannot wait till next spring.
  9. I pray Ellsbury just magically appears on this roster with Tanaka magically appearing in the rotation. I think they would look good in the twins pinstripes. That's all I'm asking, please no more rumours of nishioka like players (Yoon) coming to Minnesota.
  10. I should rephrase "monster" but what I was saying is he is a great player and a 3 time gold glover, an All star, he puts up solid offensive numbers and he brings a great presence in the clubhouse, a lot of people like his personality and how much fun he has out there on the field every day.
  11. My bad... I did forget to mention this trade won't work if we don't sign good fa pitchers wink, wink (Masahiro Tanaka, Ervin Santana) Rotation then would be 1.Santana 2.Tanaka 3.Bailey 4.Deduno 5.Correia
  12. Here's what I hope our lineup looks like: 1. Jacoby Ellsbury CF (signed 5yrs 70mil 2. Brandon Phillips 2B (Trade) 3. Joe Mauer 1B 4. Josh Willingham DH 5. Miguel Sano 3B 6. Oswaldo Arcia LF 7. Ryan Doumit RF 8. Josmil Pinto C 9. Yunel Escobar SS (Signed 1yr 3mil) Trade Details:Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe 3B Travis Harrison C Matt Koch SP Jose Berrios 2B Brian Dozier For Reds SP Homer Bailey 2B Brandon Phillips Reasons why for this trade The Reds are starting to rebuild again so they want young players, they need a third basemen so Plouffe for now and Harrison for the future, The Reds want a Young star, Brian Dozier who's value is high. Matt Koch and Jose Berrios are just extras to make the Reds want to exept. For us it benefits our rotation and gives us a monster at second base, Brandon Phillips!
  13. I think he may struggle to give a pitcher $10M+ per year, much less $20M (and yes I do realize not all of it goes to the pitcher). Tanaka will most likly not be 20mil, due to the fact his comparison (Yu Darvish) got only 9.5 mil per year. Of course though with the success of Darvish will help bring the value higher priced maybe 11-16mil at highest, but there are the dodgers who have so much money it's falling out of there pockets they would be the team to hand him 20mil.
  14. I must say I'm not very interested in him because we don't have a big hole(Canyon) at 1B I truly care for pitching and Jacoby Ellsbury.
  15. I know this thread is about SP but we don't need a 1B. We have Mauer there. It doesn't take a genius to figure out he's the face of the twins, we want him safe and healthy, look to have him at 1st this season. He has a great bat in the lineup and we prefer to have him in the lineup more. Now that we have Pinto up we should look to make Mauer into a full time 1st Basemen. He could move back to catch in desperate situations like if Pinto, Hermann and Doumit get injured.
  16. My guess is that the rotation will suck so let's start with what we will probably get in free agency Phil Hughes Mike Pelfrey now for the rotation 1.Hughes 2.Deduno 3.Corriea 4.Pelfrey 5.Gibson or Worley Stat predictions Hughes- 10-7 3.87 Era Deduno- 9-6 3.71 Corriea- 7-8 4.31 Pelfrey- 4-10 4.72 Gibson- 6-9 4.23 Worley- 9-9 3.92 standings prediction 71-91 5th ALC Now let's se what we have right now 1.Deduno 2.Corriea 3.Gibson 4.Worley 5.Diamond 4-11 5.12 Era thats pathetic standing prediction 57-105 worst in the in the frickin' league Fan base crashes organisation moves to California JK Now for what we should do... Pohlad said we can spend 40mil, ok so lets do it For starters sign Ervin Santana, he fits perfectly 5yrs 65mil he gives up a lot of home runs so he would like Target Field make starters feel comfortable by signing Jacoby Ellsbury 5yrs 70mil, so now you have 13 mil sign Masahiro Tanaka 6yrs 57mil, now sign Yunel Escobar 1yr option of a 2nd and 3mil. Finally trade: 3B Trevor Plouffe 3B Travis Harrison C Matt Koch SP Jose Berrios 2B Brian Dozier In return... SP Homer Bailey 2B Brandon Phillips Starting lineup 1.Jacoby Ellsbury CF 2.Brandon Phillips 2B 3.Joe Mauer 1B 4.Josh Willingham DH 5.Miguel Sano 3B 6.Oswaldo Arcia LF 7.Ryan Doumit RF 8.Josmil Pinto C 9.Yunel Escobar SS Grade B- Bench: 1B Chris Collabello C Chris Hermann SS Eduardo Escobar CF Alex Pressly Grade C Bullpen LRP:Brian Duensing MRP:Ryan Pressly MPR:Casey Fien MPR:Duke Welker/Anthony Swarzak MRP:Caleb Thielbar SU:Jared Burton CP:Glen Perkins Grade: B+ Rotation: 1.Ervin Santana 2.Masahiro Tanaka 3.Homer Bailey 4.Samuel Deduno 5.
