  1. Building blocks, I think. My 2 cents where they fit best: Torii in the clubhouse, Hawk in the front office, Cuddy in the broadcast booth.
  2. Until Karl Rove and Colin Powell (and others) are put through the same scrutiny Hillary was put through, the whole issue is 100% phony partisan politics. Is that fair, diehard?
  3. Plouffe has lost his edge. Hard to get that back. Generous guy for sure, but I am not going to wish him well, since he does not seem to be hurting, right?
  4. I would guess an Assistant GM. There doesn't need to be only one.
  5. Agree, and then I had the sudden realization today that Warren is going to look like an insider by the time 2019-2020 rolls around and she starts campaigning.
  6. Did you have a grudge against our 46th president? * * if current trends continue... † † prob still too soon to joke about 45, even for me
  7. They will want at least one arm in return. Tonkin.
  8. I don't disbelieve you, but I would be intrigued to see something more specific. Otherwise I agree with the other poster. Branch Rickey maybe?
  9. "The computer says its ironic Danny Santana gets thrown out on the bases so much, considering his natural speed."
  10. Sano was listed as a DH most of last season, too, IIRC. Bollinger, eh? Now we know who the prankster is. btw, Grossman listed as outfielder. So, yeah.
  11. That quote stood out to me too. My reply would be, "the computer says we don't need to evaluate Grossman in the outfield anymore." I'm sure Molitor trusts Goin but if Molitor isn't taking data seriously, that would be frustrating.
  12. The map is supposed to show that the Midwest or Rust Belt areas that preferred Sanders to Clinton were the same that preferred Trump to Clinton. Not Ohio for whatever reasons, but Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, even Illinois and Minnesota, rural Pennsylvania, the Democrats in these places preferred Sanders. Unless everything we know about the rural Midwest is wrong and all those small towns are actually teeming with 19 year old Bernie Bro college kids who are politically active as Democrats. Highly unlikely! That narrative should have been dropped long ago, in my opinion. The 538 article was unrelated, sorry. * I'm practicing saying God with five syllables. It doesn't sound right.
  13. One of the worst things about this result is that the Trump camp, such as it is, gets to look like the campaign geniuses now. "Socialist" would have been a tough accusation, but who knows. Maybe Bernie recasts the S word as "Safety net" and hammers away at Trump's cheating and criminality. Too many unknowns.
  14. It's a continuing mission, Jean-Luc
  15. A link to a 538 article about how the polls were so wrong about the Michigan primary, and a county-by-county map of Democratic primary results. Bernie is the green. the map foretells the general, IMO http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/why-the-polls-missed-bernie-sanders-michigan-upset/
  16. It's plausible but we really don't know. Of course that would be the issue for some, just as Obama's status as a Muslim was an issue for some. Like others, I personally think Sanders economic message and status as an outsider would have depressed turnout of many voters who eventually came out for Trump. Now let's flip it around. Sanders is somehow the nominee, and loses a very close election to Trump. Huge majority of posters here (including me) would be convinced that Hillary would have routed Trump. Only a lone voice or two would have meekly had the courage to say, "not necessarily"
  17. I'm guessing the directors appoint the panel? * ok I'm done with cynicism for the day
  18. Don't forget the spanking new $90 million office building the DFL senators built for themselves. Priority #1 after they retook the senate!
  19. Links would be helpful. Not because I disbelieve it, but so I can be better informed.
  20. I do sympathize. Keep in mind that Trump was the only candidate the voters had in this election to send that message. The DNC actively worked to shut Sanders out of it, and plenty of women supported Sanders over Clinton.
  21. Also don't leave out the fact that promoting Trump and giving him free air time, turns out, was actually Clinton's strategy from the start.
  22. To say it yet again, that's not really what happened this election.
  23. Maybe your humor tonight will play better on the Falvey discussion threads?
  24. Nothing ridiculous about it. The left is doing nothing to honestly address the issues of ordinary people or the future, as you yourself have warned throughout this thread. Just one example. In 2012, the MN-DFL won a senate majority. The first thing on their agenda was to approve a brand new $90 million dollar office building for themselves. (I realize this is a local Twins board and there may be a reader here who was directly involved with that.) Trump's status and message as an outsider was like lighting a match.
