  1. Parm over shot the runway..
  2. In other news, Boston's manager John Farrell announced today that Ron Gardenhire is his token choice of staff for the 2014 All-Star Game. Indians manager Terry Francona being the other.
  3. Nothing like a 4th string SS to give the Twins a lead over Boston.
  4. One SS picks up another... nice hit Nunez
  5. Santana should have had that. Too many SS's in the outfield this year..
  6. And Joe pays Grady back for robbing him in the first inning.
  7. Some players don't really take off until they are 25 or so.. Hicks is still young. He may take another year or two, so I wouldn't give up on him yet. If anything, send him back down to AAA and let him continue developing there.
  8. The window of opportunity is only so big in professional sports, so I'm not against players learning another position in order to play in the MLB. However, there are a few problems. First of all, losing Morneau was not insignificant. Mauer and Colabello have been a bit shaky over there. The Twins lost Florimon's defense because he couldn't hit. Secondly, there's way too much experimentation with the Twins this year. First it's Bartlett, then Escobar and Santana, who else? I wish some of these players would develop their skills as an outfielder or whatever position they want to play in the minor leagues before embarrassing themselves at the MLB level. I'd rather have 9 guys who are solid defenders than 9 guys who can play multiple positions, but are mediocre at most of them! It really didn't bother me that Joe Mauer moved to first base due to health issues, but that's only one move. It's the fact that there's way too much experimentation going on at the MLB level and it's burning us! It's not too late for a guy like Danny Santana (or any of the other younger guys in the minors for that matter) to go down to the minors and learn how to play the outfield if that's what he wants to do.
  9. No doubt. Santana reminds me of a harder hitting, harder throwing version of Ben Revere.
  10. Perkins and Dozier are good candidates. Maybe Hughes if he continues pitching lights out. Joe Mauer, on the other hand, doesn't have a chance, unless he starts playing like the 1993 version of John Olerud.
  11. Call someone up from the minors like they do with pitchers. However, if you are talking about there being a bunch of mid game injuries or game ejections or something along those lines, it's probably easier to just move Plouffe over a few feet than to move Dozier to the other side of the field. If it's an emergency situation, it probably wouldn't matter a whole lot to me. Gardy seems to like players who can play multiple positions. It's nice to have some flexibility, but it's also nice to have a MLB caliber team on the field every game instead of plugging in AAAA guys all over the place.
  12. With a AAAA line up to boot!
  13. I guess I walked into that one. For the record, I've never stolen any lingerie.
  14. And if it's prized lingerie that you stole, it could also be risque.
  15. I rarely eat fries, but poutine is good. The problem is that it's difficult to find a really good poutine where I live. Mind you I mostly eat at home, so it could be due to lack of effort on my part. The last time I had a good poutine, it was on a beach in Panama a couple of years ago. Someone from Quebec (Montreal?) owns a beach bar / restaurant (I don't recall the name off the top of my head) and it was pretty good.
  16. I don't disagree. And I"m not saying that Plouffe is or should be considered a mainstay. I'm just saying that it "seems" like he is one because he's playing better this year and Gardy keeps putting him on 3rd base. In other words, it seems like Gardy wants him on 3rd base, which is possibly why Plouffe wasn't swapped with Escobar for that game.
  17. He's slow footed, but he reads the ball good and has a strong accurate arm. He's a lot better defensively than some of the duds Gardy has been trotting out there this year.
  18. Parmelee is definitely better defensively than Colabuckner. Parmelee is slow in the outfield, but he can track a ball and has a strong accurate arm. As for hitting, Parmelee rakes in AAA, but can't seem to do so with the Twins. I hope he gets it together this time around.
  19. The thought did cross my mind, but it seems like Plouffe is a mainstay at 3rd base for now. Looking back, it would be nice to switch Plouffe and Escobar and see how that game ends.
  20. That's a tough one to answer because Nunez came up. However, I do think Santana's play had something to do with it because he's been dynamite since his call up. You cant send someone down who's playing the way he is. I really like Santana's skill set. He hits the ball hard, runs incredibly fast, and has a strong arm at SS. As long as he maintains decent numbers at the plate and is fairly reliable defensively, he could be a huge asset for this team.
  21. If I can't watch the post game presser, is there a Minnesota radio station that covers it so I can at least listen to it?
  22. Is there a way for us igloo dwellers north of the border to watch post game pressers etc? I've always wanted to see some of the post game interviews etc.. but extra innings and MLB.TV always shuts er' down as soon as the last out is made.
  23. Did you fall asleep at the computer? I think you accidently left your finger on the 0 key too long.
  24. Tough one Escobar. I agree with Morris again, lack of experience out there. Got scared when he shouldn't have. Hero one day, wear the goat horns the next. That's baseball ladies and gentlemen. Nobody bats .1000 On the other hand... This Santana guy... rips the seams off baseballs, runs like crazy and has a strong arm at SS. Not a bad skill set.
