1. I really want to hear Mr. Chief's "Winnah!" more than once a week. So let it be today, please.
2. You take out the old floor? Man, I always leave it all down and it builds up, like Rome.
3. I do decoupage. Will that do?
4. No idea. Maybe it's that rocket the boys shot at the dude ranch that blinded them in an episode from "Malcolm in the Middle." Now I really gotta go. Nuts. Go Twins.
5. Gotta run. But before I do, I looked up the box score at ESPN and the first name my eye catches is Suzuki playing for the Yankees. Momentary discombobilation. End of day. Tired. My till is $50 off. And now our great little catcher has been traded to the East Coast. Relief to see K Suzuki is still on the Twins side. And now I see we're raking a future Cy Young winner. All I gotta say is, "Go Mitch!"
6. When the bats were blazing a couple nights ago, Mitch Hedberg was in on a bunch of posts. So I credit Mitch with helping us hit. Let's see if the magic lamp works a second time. Following is my favorite Mitch Hedberg routine:
[h=1]“I bought a doughnut and they gave me a receipt for the doughtnut... I don't need a receipt for the doughnut. I give you money and you give me the doughnut, end of transaction. We don't need to bring ink and paper into this. I can't imagine a scenario that I would have to prove that I bought a doughnut. To some skeptical friend, 'Don't even act like I didn't get that doughnut, I've got the documentation right here... It's in my file at home. ...Under "D".'”[/h]
7. I need to double-check with one of my baseball yodas in town. His wife -- the local gal -- was in our shop a few years ago at the holidays and was telling about her father-in-law's death at age 60.
8. While Correia battles, I dipped into the Way Back Machine to July 2, 1967, when Da Boys of Bloomington swept a DH against the Senators, 4-1 and 6-1. Tony O and Bob Allison -- who I like to look up because of local connections, with Mr. Oliva marrying a girl from Hitchcock, S.D., and a Huron girl marrying Mr. Allison's son -- both did well. Tony went 1-4 both games, with an RBI in game 2. Bob walked twice and scored twice in game 1, then went 3-4 and scored once and knocked in one in the nightcap. Other Twins connections: A former Twins owner lives a couple block up the street from me. And D. Hocking writes notes to us all on this board. That is all.
9. May Allah bless you and the camel you came in on.
10. Sometimes when I was reffin' foobaw, I'd get the caps together and tell them: "Let's have a good clean fight tonight. No rabbit punches. No blows to the kidneys. Keep your mouthpieces in." Sometimes they laughed. Usually they looked at me like I was some crazy old guy. So I'm hoping for a good clean fight tonight. And a win would be nice. That is all.
11. Me at, uh, bedtime: "Oooo, baby, when did you start wearing socks to bed?" Her: "I'm not wearing socks." True story. We're no longer together.
12. It's on my bucket list to see the Twins win just one more game before I die. Perkins, I'm depending on you, son, to pull your teammates through. My son, it's all left up to you.... (Sung to "Patches")
13. Along with Snepp putting DP thoughts into Mr. RB's head, I'd like to take this moment to point out the brilliance of this observation. We now return to the live broadcast.
14. I know this sounds harsh, but how in the world does anyone get tired playing baseball. It's fun, *{!?;*' it!
15. Gonna take at least 3 runs to win this.
16. So we hung a nada on Tejas after taking a commanding one-run lead. Tell me: Did Bert say before Gibby started that half-inning, "It's crucial for Gibson to not allow the Rangers to score here." It would make my day. Thank you.
17. Y'know, you just described my high school locker room.
18. Had to leave to help customers. Now I'm back and confused. What is it called when our guys have a bigger number than the other guys? What next? Dogs and cats sleeping together? Women not thinking men are always wrong? What? What? Madness.
19. The baseball gods got wise to my efforts to do the reverse jinx earlier this season. With power comes great responsibility.
20. Two words that have never before appeared in the same sentence: "Sacramento" and "fun-filled."
21. Hope they close the roof today.
