  1. Cue Beatles, "A Day in the Life"... "Woke up, got outta bed, saw the Twins were now ahead..." I almost always miss the end of games because I drift off around the 7th inning. So I assumed Royals magic would chalk up another win for them. Pleased to see us put it away in extras. Gosh, I hope they play winning baseball the rest of the way, so they have something good to show heading into the off-season. Cheers to all. And Mr. Glunn, not sure what happened, but hope all's well.
  2. Mr. Hand: Mr.Spicoli, You're on dangerous ground here. You're causing a major disturbance on my time. Jeff Spicoli: I've been thinking about this, Mr. Hand. If I'm here and you're here, doesn't that make it our time?
  3. A lost scene from "The Rifleman"... Lucas McCain: "Get your chores done, Mark. The Twins are going to start any minute now." Mark: "That's great, Pa! First I want to read Twins Daily. That Riverbrian and ChiTown are sure humorous, I must say." Lucas: "That they are. But they're not doing their normal pregame commentary today. I hear both had too much fun last night down at the saloon in North Fork with the Mods Club." Mark: "Goodness. It won't seem like a Twins game without their lively banter." Lucas: "Banter? Is that a new word you learned from that pretty little Sue Ostegaard girl next ranch over?" Mark: (embarrassed) "Well, yeah, Pa. And she did want to meet me in the barn before the game to see her etchings. What does that mean, Pa?" Lucas: "Darned if I know, son. Wish your mother was alive. Oh! On your way to the barn, don't trip over the dead Mexican I shot earlier today. Hurry up now. I don't want you to miss Santana's first AB." Mark: "Sure thing, Pa!"
  4. Wait. You mean there are more innings after the third?
  5. Be the base, Danny. Steal... the base.
  6. Looked like a chicken crossing the Mobius Strip.
  7. Hitting is contagious. (After Parmelee)... or not.
  8. Yes, it is problematic, ain't it? By the way, it's gotta kill a contending team and its fans when a team out of the hunt does this type of number on them.
  9. Nice start for Pino. As The Chief sez: "The post-game presser is still on!"
  10. Yeah, but Churchill never saw the Twins play. (But I'm keeping my enthusiasm anyway.)
  11. And why is Schaefer starting? Dang, another hit. I'll shut up now.
  12. Everyone have an Esco-bar filled with nuts and nougety chocolate on the house.
  13. Let's beat this Ray like the rented mule he is.
  14. Thanks to all for showing up this afternoon. It really is a pleasure to follow the comments and occasionally participate in the hilarity. My wife doesn't understand why I do this. I tell her it's a little like we're all zombies lurching back to TD no matter what. Maybe a head shot would cure that.
  15. Wow, I was going to write how last night's game was the most disappointing of the season, and pretty much everyone else beat me to it. Like others, I'm going to take a little mental break, but will check in to perhaps get a laugh or three and maybe see a return of the Rally Rhino and Rally Bunny. Go, Twins!
  16. You say so much in so little space.
  17. Ah, we all remember that first inning so well. It was sweet. Meantime, I've been thinking: Are the Twins a bad team? And my answer to myself is, no. They are an incomplete team. And we have too many days like today. But on the whole, I'm excited about this club and its potential. Man, if we can just get consistent starting pitching, that would be the difference in a dozen games and it would be us -- and not the KCRoyals -- in the hunt. Sigh!!!!! (Mr. RB sez this is the preferred number of exclamations in the stylebook.)
  18. Put a lampshade on your head and watch the postgame.
  19. Is this a Lutheran, Methodist, Catholic, Jewish or Wiccan prayer?
  20. Houston bench just yelled "Quallsie!" at their pitcher. Guess Gardy has passed on his nicknaming wisdom.
