    Haven't heard anything on his recovery. Is he gonna be 100% come spring training? Sign a top line starter in addition to resigning Pelfrey and its a decent rotation. 1. Garza/Santana/Tanaka 2. Pelfrey 3. Correia 4. Gibson 5. Deduno/Albers/Diamond/Swarzak

    It just gets old, doesn't it? Old and nauseating. He'll resign Pelphrey and call his offseason a success.

    Smiley would have been a great pickup in addition to retaining Morris, but not replacing Morris. He melted in some important starts where you know Morris would have risen to the occasion.

    And concerning Gladden, he had a down year, but he was a winner. What he offered went beyond the stats sheet. Would have loved to see that entire team kept in tact another couple years.

    For what Morris did for that team, Pohlad should have matched any offer to keep him. Who can blame him for taking the money at that point in his career? Instead Pohlad told him "It's a business" and let him walk. Pohlad was the villain, yet Twins fans booed Morris. Evidentally Minnesotans always expect local players to give the hometown discount (unless your name is Joe Mauer).

    And both of those series victories were against each other.

    Ryan still thinks teams emulate the Twins. I dont think he's open to looking outside the box.

    Willihammer put up some pretty telling statistics. They were outscored by the east and west divisions, while mopping up in the weak Central. And of course their playoff performance speaks for itself. At the least 2002-2010 deserves one of these *

    The only difference is MacPhail realized baseball is cyclical for small market teams. He realized you go for it when your window is open (Reardon, Gladden), and you rebuild when that window closes (Viola trade). Ryan never makes a splash either way. His goal is always be competitive, which has obviously backfired. When the window is open he refuses to add the final piece, and when the window closes, he refuses to gut it and start over. He never sells high. Imagine if those Redsox rumors were true and they were willing to take on Mauer's entire salary plus give up some top prospects how much better off this team would be. Ryan didnt even answer the phone.

    COULD NOT agree more. 1993-2000 was futility. 2001-2010 was a celebration of mediocrity. Now we've cycled back to futility. I'd give almost anything to have MacPhail/Kelly back in charge.

    Not a fan of the unbalanced schedule or the wildcard. Ruined the game.

    Took afvantage of a weak division, yet was still always a #3 seed. Very frustrating the organization let this "success" go to their heads, failing to keep their "success" in perspective. They played in a weak division, taking advantage of the unbalanced schedule, interleague play, and an expanded playoff format.......and literally embarrassed themselves in the playoffs to the tune of a 6-21 record.

    Couldnt agree more. I would not part with any prospects at this point, because you dont know who's gonna turn out and who wont. Hoard them all while rebuilding, but dont be afraid to do a hicks/ramos for Cliff Lee when the time is right.

    I'm well aware not all of these guys will turn out, but I dont trust Ryan to trade the right ones. Besides, it makes little sense to trade prospects for pitching, because you're just solving one problem and creating another. Sign free agent pitchers. Over pay if you must. Flip them for more prospects at the deadline. The only time I'd trade prospects is when the team has reached playoff contender status.

    What sense does it make to trade prospects for pitching right now? Berrios, Meyer, and Stewart are on the way. Don't create new holes. Don't split up this promising group. Whether its LF or 2B, there will be a spot for Rosario. Sign free agent pitchers and flip them for prospects. The only time you trade prospects is when you're contending and looking to add the final piece ala Hicks & Ramos for Cliff Lee.

    I'm not a Phil Mackey fan, but Ryan's comment on him was a pot shot. Completely uncalled for. Unprofessional. It was a legitimate question. Answer it.
