  1. I don't know why the Twins need another no-hit, not much field guy in the outfield rotation. Sizemore wasn't even good enough this season to stick with the no-offense Red Sox. Pass.
  2. When I watched Pinto, every time he caught a pitch low in the zone, his glove would drop toward the ground immediately upon catching it. Made every single pitch look like an obvious ball.
  3. Comparing last year's record and this year's record at this point in time is only helpful insofar as you look at the schedules played thus far. It's still early enough in the season that the dumb way MLB does scheduling has an impact on the standings.
  4. Part of this is undoubtedly because ML lineups are considerably better than AAA lineups. I want to see a variety of pitchers, any of whom can/should replace Deduno.
  5. I'm gonna go right at 73 games. I see nothing from this team that would lead me to believe they can go on a long winning streak or win 15 of 20. On the flip side, this team is good enough that a long losing streak seems impossible, as does losing 15 of 20. Feels like they'll be right around .500 all season.
  6. Another great pitching performance by the Twins!
  7. He definitely got me at first. It helped to see that RB liked it, and that it was just too absurd to be real.
  8. He should probably stay at AAA so he can continue learning how to win.
  9. Poor Arcia...he needs a breather. He's swinging at everything these days.
  10. Santana's baserunning has been brutal thus far.
  11. I am decidedly okay with that lineup until Plouffe gets back.
  12. I personally would rather go Esco 3B, Santana SS, Fuld CF, and Nunez "wherever somebody gets injured" and on the bench. I'm not sure how much it matters at this point in terms of win/loss record, but I think it'd be good for the Twins' SS to get some time at SS in the majors.
  13. What's interesting to me in the "How much GM influence does Gardy have?" debate is that it shouldn't matter when evaluating how good of a job Gardy has done as regular old non-G manager. I think he's done pretty well, with a few exceptions. I think he rode Colabello too long and Kubel WAY too long. I think Pinto should have gotten some more ABs, or at least gotten them in bunches rather than as infrequently as he did. I think Gardy was hamstrung when 2/3 of his outfield got injured seemingly simultaneously.
  14. Cabrera also played 3B in the minors at at the beginning of his ML career. Every position that isn't C is another new position for Mauer to learn.
  15. Gardy and Anderson pushing all the right bullpen buttons today (or practicing some crazy bullpen voodoo today)
  16. It's a "I'm going to criticize the Twins player development even though it's unrelated" comment
  17. Strange? I find it par for the course. Last year he was a Twin, and criticizing him gave an opportunity to criticize Twins coaches and management. This year's he's not a Twin, and giving him "love" gives an opportunity to criticize Twins coaches and management. Pretty straightforward, actually.
  18. I always find this sort of question hilarious in the sports world context, but ESPECIALLY in the context of major league baseball. What happened in today's game should have next to zero bearing on the evaluation and decisionmaking of the people who matter.
  19. How can you use Dickey as a way to refute the idea that Anderson didn't have anyone to work with? Because he had one decent season and one really good season YEARS after several other teams gave up on him?
  20. Just my opinion, but the Twins need to be several games UP in the WC race come ASB time. And the Tigers will get around to rolling through the Central eventually. They ran off a bunch of wins earlier this season, then lost a bunch. I'm guessing the former is their most likely outcome given their roster.
  21. Based on other comments I've seen, it's the 3 K/9 ratio. I think he's doing just fine though. It's not like he's Burton.
  22. Whoa...Pinto has NOT been the 2nd or 3rd best hitter on the Twins for most of the season, at least so long as results are concerned. I think Gardy has done pretty well, but then I don't have any idea how managers should be evaluated beyond bullpen and PH decisions.
  23. At which point the FO will be criticized for calling out players through the press...
