  1. I read that article as well and thought it was great. The most interesting part of it to me was how worthless the #5 starter is on basically every team, yet so much worry and hand-wringing goes into determining who's going to fill that spot.
  2. I thought mayyyyyybe Sano, Rosario and Meyer might be up for a little while toward the end of this year. I had no expectations whatsoever about Buxton. Perhaps you are setting your expectations way, way too high. And I'm not sure how much the "promised future" should be criticized when one dude needed TJ and the other sprained his wrist and the third tried to cheat and got caught.
  3. Patience is a virtue, my friend. Especially in a sport where if your team loses a game, that have 161 other chances to get it back.
  4. I'm not so certain a post that ends with "hbo is pretty sweet" was supposed to be taken that seriously...
  5. I'm amused by the "Mauer won't swing at the first pitch complaints," because while I understand them w/r/t/ Mauer (sorta, but not really), I think my least favorite thing on the planet is seeing a guy swing at the first pitch and pop up or weakly ground out.
  6. Sure, it's something to watch and keep an eye on. But I don't believe that one game foreshadows anything.
  7. There is no place for nuance and patience on a blog, sir! But seriously, I agree with you. I don't read much into many things for a couple reasons. First, it's boring to me. Second, it's depressing to me. Third, it's an awful lot of work and feels like trying to prove a conspiracy.
  8. Very good article, Parker. Definitely adds something meaningful to the "why Mauer is struggling" conversation.
  9. Is this a dare?!?
  10. That little trick is all that keeps me from spelling it Qubel
  11. Kubel is donezo and needs to go away.
  12. I'm with gunn on this. I've never bought into the "you need to scream and yell" argument. I don't think a guy reaches the majors by needing the artificial motivation of cussing out a teammate to play well.
  13. I am personally tired of "outrage" at every little thing. Surely people aren't so emotional as to need to become wildly upset at every opportunity. I'm glad the STrib has "showed restraint" in this area.
  14. I'm not so sure the Contact Play is best run with Willingham (or ever)
  15. Fair enough. I do not think that, thus why the "typical Gardy" struck me as incorrect...much like your opinion
  16. Did you....want Parms to keep playing?
  17. You'd trade a 3 run HR for a single out? I sure wouldn't. You clearly just don't like Hicks being in CF for the Twins, otherwise you wouldn't try so hard to criticize a HR-robbing catch.
  18. I hear that that ? fellow has got some serious potential
  19. He got back to the wall in time to time his jump perfectly and be able to reach the ball with his glove. What more are you looking for in a HR-robbing catch?
  20. I like your lineup for the most part, especially since Escobar can get Plouffe days off at 3B, but I really hope Parmalee isn't the backup 1B/DH next year, as he can't hit in the majors. Also, is Rosario playing in the OF currently, let alone CF? I don't follow the minors as closely as some.
  21. It is almost June, and I am still excited when I'm home and have the time to watch the Twins (and I'm not blacked out). Pretty remarkable considering how bad they were last year and how bad they were expected (by many) to be this year. I'll take "playing over their heads" if it means a win about 1/2 the time. And I'll have continuing reasons to watch as Arcia gets back/healthy, Dozier continues Doziering, Hicks goes to RH-only, Gibson continues getting better (hopefully), Santana gets more time in the majors, Meyer/May get to come up and pitch, and Kubel/Parmelee/Guerrier get removed from the team.
  22. Perhaps he was throwing his voice toward right field
  23. Bums me out that he gets the "blame" for that run in probably his best inning of the night. Bums me right out, man.
  24. Hughes is sooooooo totally to blame for giving up that run. Right?
  25. The Twins offense lately also makes me sad emoticon
