  1. I thought this is "Twins Daily"? Why is 2/3 of the recaps of each Twins minor league team focused on the players of the teams the Twins teams will be playing? I'd rather the space was used to recap the performance of the Twins' prospects during the past week.
  2. I appreciate the weekly recap. Twins minor league coverage is perhaps my favorite aspect of Twins Daily, however, there is an increased amount of ink being written in the Minor League Daily Recap about top prospects in the opponents' minor league system. This specific article would have meant more to me if Nate would have recapped who had poor, good, or great weeks for each of OUR farm teams last week instead of focusing on top prospects of other major league teams. I encourage Twins Daily writers to remember that those of us who consume their content want "Twins" related news and updates first and foremost.
  3. The one trade that could make a real difference for this team is trading Rocco for a bag of balls and a chocolate shake (ask for a 'large', but accept a 'small'). Perhaps we throw in Falvey who proved his insanity by extending Rocco earlier this season. Does Rocco have 'pictures'? Anyone who watches the Twins play uninspired baseball day after day has to agree that we have a serious problem at the top of the food chain. I wish that the Twins played with half the effort and energy of the Nationals this past weekend. Did the Nationals have more to play for than the Twins? I think not! Seriously, we do need to send a signal to the players and move some who are showing their limitations and lack of effort for all the world to see, but if we keep proven stiffs like Rocco and Falvey protected, we will end up with a similar product and just new faces on the field.

  6. Blyleven2011 is correct. This is another lousy minor league update written by Sherry. She is by far the worst writer at Twins Daily. The Minor League Recap is my favorite daily feature at this site, and I cannot make sense of what actually happened in each game trying to interpret Sherry's dribble. Leave all the attempts to be "cute" out of the recap and simply provide accurate accounts of what really happened. In addition, I clicked on the "Box Score" for the Mussels, and just the opening lineup for the game popped up; no boxscore. Twins Daily leadership: Stop providing garbage writing by this author if you want to retain readership.
  7. So...the Cedar Rapids Kernals are now a "Double A" affiliate? I'm sure Kernals management would like to be informed of their "promotion". I've been ready Twins Daily since the inception and am a serious follower of the Twins and their system. This is easily one of the worst written articles/recaps I've read at this site. One would think a middle school student put this article together. Reading this recap was painful and certainly does not inspire me to trust anything written by this author. Please keep your standards high if you wish to retain loyal readers.
  8. Don't lose sight of the great performance by Tim Atherton for the Kernals. He stood out from other relievers in the Kernals bullpen during my weekend in CR in June. In one inning, he walked the bases loaded, but also struck out the side. He can really bring it with heat and filthy movement. Perhaps the move to the starting rotation is helping him pitch more within himself and not try to do 'too much' in a relief role. Keep an eye on Atherton as an emerging prospect.
  9. I was in CR Friday-Sunday this past weekend. Adam Walker (3rd rd 2012) was the player who surprised me the most. He is an incredible athlete who smoked the ball every time at the plate. He is surprisingly quick for a big man. The Twins have another potential star in Walker. Hudson Boyd shows flashes of greatness at times. He had Cougar batters helpless in at bats where he could get his breaking pitches over for strikes. His fastball consistently sat in the low 90's. His poor stats so far are deceiving as to his potential if he can remain consistent with his command. Travis Harrison is the unsung hero of the group and probably the nicest guy on the team. His play and approach reminded me of Michael Cuddyer who wasn't a slouch by any means for the Twins. Twins fans will love him if he can harness his potential. Cedar Rapids is an easy trip for Twins fans and where else can you get the best seats in the house for $11 while seeing the Twins' future up close and personal. Sunday games are especially sweet since the players go into right field for 30 minutes after the game while fans are allowed onto the field to chat with them and get autographs and pictures. Really nice move by the Kernals!
  10. Another Minnesotan to watch is Cody Beam from Coon Rapids HS who now pitches for Dallas Baptist University which produced Twins "legend", Lew Ford among several other major leaguers. Beam has a mid-90's FB and was recently named WAC Pitcher of the Week. He is projected to go around Round 10 which last year produced DJ Baxendale for the Twins followed up by Taylor Rogers in Round 11. It would be nice to see Twins give strong consideration to a great local kid with a good upside.
