  1. hey seth how is may closer than meyer?
  2. You would be unhappy with zumaya in his prime? think more Matt Andreson.all I'm saying is if he has work to do let him do that work for the twins if he is available.
  3. Scouting Grades: Fastball: 80 | Slider: 65 | Curveball: 60 | Changeup: 45 | Control: 45 | Overall: 65 The latest in a long line of Texas high school fireballers, Kolek missed much of his junior season at Shepherd High after he broke his left arm in an infield collision while playing first base. He made a dramatic return to the mound in June, hitting 99 mph with his fastball at an Area Code Games tryout and peaking at 97 at the Perfect Game National Showcase. He pitched at 93-96 mph for most of the summer and hit 99 again at the Perfect Game All-America Classic in August. Kolek has pushed his fastball to 100 mph and above several times this spring, even out of the stretch. He throws both a 12-to-6 curveball and a sharp slider, and though the slider is newer to him, it has more upside. He rarely uses a changeup, but it has the potential to become an average offering. The only real knock on Kolek is that his control and command have yet to catch up to his premium stuff. That still hasn't prevented him from becoming a contender to go No. 1 overall to the nearby Astros. His younger brother Stephen, a right-hander who can run his fastball into the low 90s, could be an early-round pick in 2015. this what MLB says about him. he has one great pitch and two average to above average pitches. and he 18 so his control could improve. and just on a aside I hear constinatly that the twins don't have anyone that strike anyone out. so if he did slide to the twins would anyone really complain. personally I think that the pick is either going to be jackson or gordon. more likely gordon.
  4. A. kolek has been pitching longer. b griffin was sort of sleeper he jumped up the draft board late. c. he was picked by the royals who are wonderful judges of talent.
  5. If we take Nola, I going to think that it is a total cost saving move. To be frank I would hate that move. A. he has less upside. and you can say that kolek (who I think will be gone by the time we pick) is risky but I'd much rather take the risk than go safe. B. love the fact that they have no problem taking raw postion players but they taking a raw pitcher with upside. that would be no no
  6. i think it make sence he he hits .286 as a rhb vs. 145 as a lhb. my only ? is why he didn't do it sooner, and i sort of know the answer to it.
  7. personally, i think we are going to end up with jackson, However I have hopes for kolek.
  8. I sort of hope Rodon could drop, Anthony Ranando (I'm spelling his name wrong I think) Had a awful Junior Season at LSU, and dropped to the Red soxs at 37 but I think he's one of their top prospects. But you never know.
  9. I just hope that since this is a deep draft, I would like Kolek, Jackson, or turner in that order. And hopeing that we get talent latter on somebody who thinks to much of themselves.
  10. I'm hoping Jackson,Turner, or Kolek either one I would be happy with. When I think college SS I think tulo, but their alway the grant green of the world to worry about.
  11. I was kidding about the mays comment. one of the five best definatately. Being that at the moment only 9 people have more hits that he does, I have a hard time believing his offence is over rated. You can't really compare him to AROD being that he was takeing steriods most of his life. Oh and if your so intersted in his defense, why isn't Vizquel on your list.
  12. being your denagrating one of my two favorite players the other one is the clearly overrated wille mays. I should say that it is not Jeter's fault that he played in new york and that is cool to dislike the yankees. Do find it funny that on spirts list that Ozzie Smith's defence is rated higher that Jeter's offence. Second greatest shortstop of all time behind Luis Aparisco
  13. I sort of changed my mind on getting Kolek, I have the personal opinion that he won't be available by the time we pick. But I looks like gatewood is moving you in some of these drafts. so maybe just maybe. I do have to say, I like Kolek more simplely because of his dare I say sexy fastball, compared to some of the other pitcher we have on the staff, and have drafted. It's a long way off but it would nice to have some pitcher that could just throw it pass you, as well as pitch around you.
  14. abosoultly not, not a five to much of a risk if injured.
  15. I have to agree with seth. Nothing stopping slegers moving up the list if he plays weel next year. I have no problem where he is on the list being that he only played in rookie level ball and it's a small sample size.
  16. I think of all the prospects if a pitcher is over 6'8 1/2 people like to get exicted about him, I think of randy johnson. That said I think Slegers, is among my favorite prospects.
  17. I have to think that Kolek will not fall to us. Pitchers who are 18 and throw 100 don't generally fall. However, this is supposed to be a deep draft. so here's hopeing. As a back up I'd like to see them get either gatewood which is possible or turner (also probably not going to happen.) I think the pick right now is going to be Jackson.
  18. of course this is projection, still Rosario has hit at every level. So my finger cossing is that will probably continue, of course so did dozier of course dozier was older at the time. My point and I do have one is dozier is not seting the world on fire, he is OK, on a bad team. Why should I have confedence that he is going to get any better at 27 than he is at twenty six. People seem to act like his defence is akin to Alomar or something.
  19. I read the article and the first thing that poped into my head was , not just no but hell no. First of, dozier is probably be trade bait after 2014 if he has another decent season. For the simple reason a. Rosario is younger than he is b. is going to be a better hitter c. is probably as good defensively.
  20. hate to bring this up but the Boston red sox's won the ws probably because they had many rameriez ,david oritz, and curt schilling. and you didn't saber metrics to figure that out.
  21. which is a good thing.
  22. For all the reasons for him not to come back, there is one for him to return no body loves as much as the fans in Minnesota that being said I don't think he going to come back.
  23. as a rule, I don't like it when they trade with the yankees because the yankee cupboard is always so bare. And we would never get sanchez, then again as with montero i never thought that they would trade him to seattle but they did .
  24. as for extending he's a boras client so boras will probably declare he's the sandy kofax coming of a injury and want 3y/50 Im only sort of kidding.
  25. My thing is that Rosario has hit at every level that he has been at. It's always been a where do you put him. or now can his defence improve enough to where the twins feel comfortable having him at 2b full time. I think he has answered those questions. That being said he still has to make the team out of spring training, and dozier has done enough that is not going to be easy. It's a nice problem to have.
