An A ball pitcher in the Rule 5? What? Someone available in the Rule 5 who has never pitched above A? That sounds like a "never will" if they're only in A ball yet available in the Rule 5.
And how in the world do you fix this mess? It looks to me like clearing space on the 40 man by dumping players risks losing players with a good chance at a solid MLB career. Not everyone can be a superstar but solid players don't exactly grow on trees either.
Do you suppose the Twins rushed these prospects for monetary reasons, incompetence or because the FO couldn't take another bad season with MLB filler? If you're able to run these numbers then the FO certainly has access to the same information. It's quite incredible to think the FO kept trying the same thing over and over while expecting a different result. Also, how does rushing prospects affect options? For instance, Arcia is on the MLB team because he's out of options.
Bert slips up once in a while. Recently Bert commented that he thought Dozier was being stubborn in regards to going the other way with the ball. Another time, I heard Bert say "no no no" in regards to either a bad pitch sequence or an egregious fielding blunder. Also, recently, Bremer sounds rather resigned this year and is just going through the motions. No amount of verbal lipstick is going to make this pig of a Twins team look better.
The Twins can now be projected to win 40 games this year. Maybe. I've seen teams plumb the depths of futility but this team is taking futility to unheard of depths.
I expect the Twins to eat some salary this year. If the Twins do eat salary, I think the candidates are Hughes, Nolasco or Mauer. Just tossing it out there. Red meat among a bunch of piranhas, as it were.
Where I live, not much to look at. However, gorgeous coast is a couple hours a way and in the winter, knee deep snow is an hour away. Meanwhile, we don't have to deal with rusted out cars or frozen nose hairs.
