  1. Yeah, I get you. Losses happen. But when they are coupled by baffling moves by the manager it raises serious questions.
  2. Looking at this game in isolation, yes, it's an over reaction. However, the Twins have to play every single day for the next few weeks. Molitor should have gone with the fresh arms, whatever the outcome, because the bullpen needed a break due to the grueling schedule coming up. The manager should manage not just from game to game, but also manage for games down the road. I think today was a significant failure on the part of Mr. Molitor when it comes to setting up the team for the next few weeks.
  3. As I mentioned above, this is the second time Molitor could have given up the DH in order to have better defenders in the outfield. Late in the game, this can be huge. It isn't too many moving pieces, this is the kind of thing a manager should be doing. My .02.
  4. This is the second time late in a game Molitor could have given up the DH in order to have better defenders in the outfield. Do you recall the game where Kepler was DH'ing and Grossman was in the outfield and misplayed a ball Kepler, more than likely, would have caught? Today, Molitor could have again given up the DH, put Grossman in right, moved Kepler over and kept Rosario in left. Twice this year, Molitor could have shown some innovation and instead, did the usual. I understand not giving up the DH early in the game, but late in the game when saving runs may be the difference between winning and losing? Yeah, it's outside the box thinking, but when staying inside the box is costing games, then, just perhaps, the manager needs to be a little more innovative. Edit:Obviously, I'm overlooking the dreadful use of the bullpen. That was uncalled for.
  5. If you're Paul Molitor you go with option b. What do I win?
  6. Maybe Molitor was too close the action?
  7. Santana and the bats answered the call. Molitor decided, with a 6 run lead, to use the same people rather than going with the arms that were brought up. The extra inning loss, it is what it is. I find the decisions made by Molitor today to be inexcusable, especially considering how many games the Twins are playing over the next few weeks. Edit: I hope I'm not coming across as overly harsh, because it's not intended that way.
  8. "I sense sarcasm."
  9. Molitor, I thought, was brought in so there could be a little bit of innovation. Instead, Molitor seems to be an old-school manager who talks analytics. Maybe Molitor is good with lineup construction but I find his use of the bullpen to be rather questionable as of late.
  10. I think the teaching moment should involve pink slips of paper and handshakes.
  11. I cannot even get to worked up over Pressly not performing. I think Molitor was asking a bit too much bringing him out again. However, both Belisle and Breslow are supposed to have the experience to get through these kinds of situations and they both failed.
  12. I could tell you but this is a family friendly site.
  13. The day after 14 inning game in which every single relief pitcher was used do you: A. Bring out the tired arms to get the last outs, even though you've got a 6 run lead, Or, B. Use the arms just brought up because everyone in the bullpen has been hard used. Hmm, decisions, decisions.
  14. The Twins needed Santana to give them at least 7, Santana delivers. Players are stepping up when needed. Very cool.
  15. Rosario: that player that angers and thrills in the course of a game.
  16. Wow, nothing like having Sano prove my point. Unreal.
  17. And I see now why this Jankwhatever fellow has only pitched 1/3 of an inning previously.
  18. Good job! "Cost of living" for a grave site. Love it!
  19. You know, I get the veteran presence idea and I have no problem with it. But, like you say, filling the roster with such players, rather than 1 or two makes no sense.
  20. The team is on the horns of a dilemma. They really weren't expecting to compete this year, but they are. I think I'd prefer to flame out with young prospects versus being on the edge of being competitive using aging players looking for one last grasp at the brass ring. I think you're right, the aging placeholder isn't cutting it. Move forward rather than stand pat. I wonder if they may have to do down into AA to get an arm?
  21. Hah! And my hair was not white when I started following the Twins.
  22. I'm a Twins fan, so, I find your comment to be redundant.
