  1. Nah, I'm sure the artists who created the leg sculptures was making a point about how the world of adults looks to small children and, by extension, trying to remind us adults just how small we are in the macroverse. Me, I lean more toward ugly a** art that no one with any sense would ever buy, so, therefore, this was commissioned by city government to reward the second cousin of a nephew who's mother was once married to a member of the city council.
  2. Yep, definitely game thread material.
  3. I was in Chicago once. Played in the "Windy City Open." Wound up walking around on the hotel roof after one of the patrons got a window open. I saw a guy using a valet to have his luggage taken up to his room. The luggage consisted of a small overnight bag and several cases of beer. Also got hit on by a stripper. (I think she thought I had money or she was desperate) Nice gal, good looking, working her way through college. It was my first encounter with someone who was employed as such. At the time, I didn't know that was the "stripper standard statement" By 9pm every single ice machine on every floor was empty in the hotel. No, the guy with the overnight bag and beer was not atypical.
  4. Average job, RB! (hey, you set the bar)
  5. The Sox will be at Target Field in a couple of days...
  6. Sounds like a positive to me...........
  7. Dozier didn't start because he has lousy numbers against Bauer and Francona goes to the pen with Dozier coming up? Molitor would be proud of that move.
  8. Saved the challenge, though. They add up over the course of a season. Hmm, what's that? They can't be saved, like in a bank? Never mind, then.
  9. Rosario, really? Molitor needs to get these guys under control.
  10. 4 innings, one run from Gibson. I'll take that. Let's hope Mr. Gibson goes 8 and the Twins get him some runs.
  11. I like this Gibson so far. And we've seen this Gibson a couple of times already this year. Yeah, yeah, small sample size. But with as desperate as the Twins are for pitching, have to try to find some a little positive.
  12. And that inning's why Gibson still has a job. Excellent job by Mr. Gibson.
  13. And thank you for whoever posted the lineups, much appreciated.
  14. I would tell you what I do for inspiration but, unfortunately, I'm not sure I should share my particular brand of insanity inanity.
  15. Yes, I thought a trip down memory lane would bring back some fond and not so fond memories.
  16. Pitching for the Twins: Kyle Gibson Pitching for Cleveland: Trevor Bauer Mod note: I may not be back in time to post lineups.
  17. For some insane reason, I decided that I needed a bit of deadline pressure so I signed up for the Twins/Cleveland game thread. Yes, I know it was a couple of weeks away when I signed up, but, remember those book reports that were assigned at the beginning of the year and due at the end of the Semester? (It was especially painful for Chief and I, because, as usually happened, we not only tended to be out of sharpened chisels, but our supply of stone tablets was also a bit low. It's not like we could run down to the 5 and Dime or local Woolworths for more stone tablets. And don't get me started on “chiselers cramp!”) Anyway, even with all that advanced warning, somehow, the report didn't get done until roughly 25 seconds before it was due. But, am I complaining? Not at all. (okay, maybe a little. FINE! A LOT!) After all, I only have to write these threads. Others have to actually read this drivel, I mean, magnificent opus. Here we are, and the Anti 87 Twins continue on their merry way. How a baseball team can play 740 ball on the road and 470 ball at home defies logic. But, this does have all the makings of a quintessential baseball season. I thought Cleveland was on a mission to win the Series this year, after just missing the brass ring last year. But, again, it's baseball. I thought the Twins were going to take another step forward and be a middle of the pack team. Instead, the Twins decided to have the last laugh and make us question the relevance of analytics through defying conventional analytics. For a season without many expectation or low expectations, it's been a hoot and a half and a crazy ride to boot. All together now: It's baseball! Some things to think about: Sellers or buyers? Light beer or real beer? Hot dogs or Brats? Coffee or Tea? Eggs or Egg Beaters? Play ball! Lineups: Cleveland: Francisco Lindor SS Jason Kipnis[L] 2B Jose Ramirez 3B Edwin Encarnacion[R] DH Lonnie Chisenhall[L] RF Carlos Santana 1B Bradley Zimmer[L] CF Roberto Perez[R] C Daniel Robertson[R] LF -> Trevor Bauer[R] P Minnesota: Jorge Polanco SS Joe Mauer[L] DH Miguel Sano[R] 3B Max Kepler[L] RF Kennys Vargas 1B Eduardo Escobar 2B Eddie Rosario[L] LF Byron Buxton[R] CF Chris Gimenez[R] C -> Kyle Gibson[R] P
  18. Okay, Dick, that was funny, "Riveting rain delay coverage."
  19. Up hear, the games are usually around channel 729. I usually have to search a bit around 729 before I find the game. Nice thing though is that if DTV is having issues, I can always use mlb.tv as an alternate. Nice to have it included with the Direct TV package.
  20. Really? I'm in CA 3 hours north of you and the game is on Dish, mlb extra innings.
  21. You know it's bad when the batter hits a double on a ball that is right on the lower edge of the zone. Conversely, that's when you know a batter is swinging a hot bat.
  22. Shoot, wasn't much of a catch for Buxton, didn't even run into the fence.
  23. So, you're saying maybe the FO should give Blackburn a call?
  24. Yeah, and the bailing utensil is commonly known as a "spork."
