  1. I suspect the main reason is they want to go younger, but I wonder if his personality was a least a small element of truth. I think AJ would be a great spark on a winning team or a young team that has some potential. But the abrasive spark plug that works in some situations/locker rooms can sometimes be detrimental in others.
  2. I am guessing there is no stopping Jake when he is on a roll (and Joe has probably known that since about age 3). It is nice to get some insight of what is going on in Joe's head. I think a lot of his crtics think he does not care, so it is nice to see someone refuting that. I do think Joe would be upset to find out Grandpa Jake revealed that he actually has a mouth like a drunken sailor. At least he did not add the quote where Joe used "dang" and "shoot".
  3. Yes - when you read the full blog interview vs. some of the smaller excerpts floating about you do get that impression. I don't think Joe would disagree with any of what was said - still not sure he would be thrilled with Grandpa talking to the press.
  4. I saw this on the Strib (Howard Sinker) -- in a moment of weakness I read the reader comments.... I am guessing Joe flinches everytime he sees his Grandpa talking to someone with a recorder. Jake likes to hear the sound of his voice somtimes (I don't think Joe inherited that trait) .
  5. I think this is going to be easier than you thought: http://payload35.cargocollective.com/1/5/180192/3012219/RadicaTextiles_curtain_detail2_735.jpg

  7. I predict this is going to be a short game thread as people are going to find other things to do. I am just going to blame this on RB for ditching his game thread duties. No other logical reason to foresee this happening.
  8. Does R-Brian think he is Bert and can take off as many games as he feels like? I think this needs to go into his performance review and definitely effect any raise he would get.
  9. The Yankee's Suzuki does not have a Gardenhirization of his last name.
  10. Sadly I brought some work home that I did not finish before the long-weekend. Even more sad is that I think it is going to be a welcome reprieve/escape from the game...
  11. He said that it had been a little sore (but was actually feeling better) and he just took it the usual aches and pain - but the cross over from ache to injury came from the swing of the bat when he hit the double. They are probably completely unrelated in this case, but I always wonder how much over-compensation when dealing playing with an earlier injury (such as a back) leads to a later injury (such as an oblique). I always wondered when he played through that bruised heel in 2010, if over-compensation from that led to the knee problems at the end of the season - which led to the 2011 issues. In both cases, I wonder if a DL stint at the first injury would have helped prevent problems later. Maybe not - just some wondering thoughts at lunch - i suppose I should try to be a productive employee now.
  12. Am I the only one who had to Google the definition of "decoupage"? Nice job with the painting.
  13. My mind is not as sharp as it used to be (and it was never really overly-sharp to begin with) - I forgot Valencia was now with the Royals.
  14. I think age is a factor, but I think there are so many factors this year -- the concussion, the back, the new position, the pressure of the home all-star game, fickleness of baseball luck, that I think it is hard to pin point a dominant factor. It is too bad about the oblique has been a lot more consistent the last three of four series -- hopefully this won't be a significant step backwards. Hopefully this time next year we will be talking about 2014 as a down-year and not part of a trend.
  15. I must have clicked on the wrong station - the game I am listening to has the home team at 10 runs. I need to try to find the Twins game.
  16. Decorative painting in the bathroom - was Brian's poop pic the inspiration?
  17. Don't you remember when you used to hide your math book under your bed?
  18. Depends on your definition of "playing". It might be up for debate.
  19. Target Field has already had a AAAA team the last three plus years, so that is a start.
  20. (I could probably use my time more wisely at times...) http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs50/i/2011/335/a/c/celtic_wile_e_coyote_by_sookie_by_sookiesooker-d2c3glc.jpg
  21. I used the firm Marquis, Bartlett and Capps. Said they had years of experience and could be obtained for reasonable rates, but it did not go as I had hoped.
  22. You can't always judge just by audio - but even on the radio he sounded nasty.
  23. I was bracing myself for Perk allowing a hit or two and a runner in scoring position. I am not sure I am able to process him striking out the side without any drama.
  24. Search over - she will love them: http://www.familybedding.com/img/p/m/e/c/f/1/137032/Minnesota_Twins_MLB_Microsuede_Window_Valance.jpg
  25. yes - I really did not think you personally blamed Mauer - I was making a fairly weak joke.
