  1. Gibson is going to make a min 2 but probably 3 rehab starts before he returns ( per Twins radio broadcast). Something has to be done with Hughes now, if he can't go past 75 pitches.
  2. Yeah I guess that is pretty funny.
  3. So, depending on exactly what formula used, he's either the absolute worst player in all of baseball over that time, or possibly only one of the 5 or 6 worst in all of baseball? That's about what I thought.
  4. Well I'm referring to regular players. Mastrioni has all of 7 mlb plate appearances in that time frame so I'm not really counting him.
  5. Since the start of 2015, who is worse?
  6. Only the starting position players get voted in. The bench is chosen by the manager.
  7. Care to list some of them?
  8. You are forgetting Gardy's personal whipping boy, Carlos Gomez. Also the standards he seemed to set for the guy we traded Gomez for, JJ Hardy. Hardy had a legit injury and Gardy couldn't run him out of town fast enough for not being tough enough. This organization does have a culture, it's that of an exclusive country club.
  9. 2.5 MORE months? Or total on the season? 2.5 more puts us into August. I don't think they can look him in the eye for that long if he keeps this up. If you aread saying mid to late June, ok I wouldn't wait that long but that's not terrible.
  10. I would fire Mollie not because I think I can salvage anything, but because I think he's the wrong guy to manage the kids and I don't want his influence in the clubhouse another day. Then I'd hand it to Dougie on an interim basis, knowing in my head that it would take an amazing performance to consider keeping him beyond the season. I'd do that because all of these young guys know and respect Dougie, some probably even almost as a father figure. Then in off season I'd hire the best possible candidate with no ties whatsoever to the current organization, with my criteria being solely who is the best to build up a bunch of young players through a few losing seasons.
  11. Fair enough. I'd add Wade, personally, but outside of those two I don't have a problem with anyone else. Chargois to MLB maybe.
  12. Yeah timeline isn't the reason it bothers me I just want these guys constantly being challenged and making adjustments. If they think that is still happening at high A then so be it, but from the outside it sure doesn't look like it.
  13. This club is way to far away from competence, let alone contention to even consider trading any prospects away. If the choice is Grossman for nothing but money and a 40 spot or trading actual prospects for an insignificant veteran OF'er, I'll drive Robbie over from Rochester myself.
  14. I agree the contract doesn't doom them. They could always decide to go over budget a few million dollars per year for a few years. That's not illegal, and given how badly they swindled us with the public money for the stadium, it's actually the least they could do. Also, they could employ smart people and win with a restrained payroll like several other teams have done. I won't disagree with any of that stuff. It just grinds my gears when people claim it has no impact.
  15. I think that has to be considered for sure. It's going to take several years before we can know if that's the case or not, but at this point, it wouldn't surprise me if every single person in the organization has been infected, right on down through the minors.
  16. I agree. The result of this HAS to be swapping May and Hughes, does it not?
  17. Amidst all that, perhaps the most damning indictment against management of all is how shocked and stunned they are by this. People on here who defend the Twins say that we have to realize that they know and see a lot more than we do. Well, that knife has to cut both ways. How could they know these players so well and not see even a chance of this happening? That tells me that their ability to judge talent is indefensibly bad.
  18. I don't think a person has to disagree with the contract offer to think that it's been a hindrance. They had no choice really, I realize that and admit it, which is why I already agreed it's been beaten to death. That still doesn't change the fact that it hampers the FO. We can argue that it shouldn't, but it absolutely does, it's basic math.
  19. Jack Morris said it best on Barrerio yesterday. "You can't learn how to get mlb hitters out in AAA." Berrios has proven he can get minor league hitters out at will. I'm not sure there is anything for him to learn at Rochester, unless it's a specific mechanical issue they saw. But even so, isn't Neil Allen the best suited coach in the organization to work with him?
  20. If he wants to have a ceiling higher than a fringe 4th OF'er in this league, he's going to have to do some serious soul searching and decide if he's willing to basically start from scratch again. Physically he has the tools to be a league average corner OF'error, IMO. And, there is plenty of value in that and he could play 15 years and make 100 million dollars. But, he swings at everything. It's really amazing, not sure I've ever seen this extreme. His approach has no chance of success long term against mlb pitching.
  21. Johnny Cueto. I'm not going to play the "would he sign here" game, that's impossible to know. Offering what Mauer makes would have been 1.5 million per year more than SF signed him for. Who knows if he'd accept it, but it would at least be an option.
  22. Maybe he would, probably not. With Mauer on the books he can't though. It might go from 1 % to 0 %, but that is still something.
  23. With that money they could go sign a good #2 borderline ace FA pitcher. So yeah, it prevents them from doing things.
  24. That's just not true. This team has a self imposed salary cap, so to say Mauer's contract doesn't prevent them from spending money is just bad math. Saying it's been beaten to death is a fair take, in fact I probably agree with it. But saying his salary doesn't matter just isn't true.
  25. I would accept Dougie finishing the year with an interim tag, but ultimately I want any and all new hires to come from outside the organization, that is how sour I am on the whole thing.
