  1. According to MLB Trade Rumors, the Padres are considering signing Marquis. For them, this move makes sense because they currently have four of their starting pitchers on the DL, but just barely in the sense that Marquis is kind of bad.
  2. The big question right now isn't really who the Twins take, it is who the Astros take. That should show who the Twins will pick.
  3. I am sure that they were just THRILLED to get him back.
  4. This should be a good game; except for Jamey Carroll, nobody on either team has faced the opposite pitcher tonight. Carroll has two hits off of Parker.
  5. Gotcha, thanks
  6. When Marquis clears release waivers, the Twins will have another open spot on their roster. Who will the Twins put on the 40-man roster to replace Marquis? (If I remember previous threads, the Twins already have a spot open on the 40-man roster, which means that if Marquis clears waivers, there will now be only 38 players on the roster)
  7. If you remember, that was one of the reasons that Nathan left. He said he wanted to stay with the Twins, but he felt like there was too much turnover and wouldn't be able to get comfortable with all the switching going on.
  8. The best part of this blog was for sure the last paragraph; it made me LOLOLOLOL! ;)
  9. While Hendriks has been pitching well recently down in AAA, all indications are that he is still working on attacking the strike zone more and not getting away with things at AAA that he wouldn't get away with in the Bigs. But that being said, it sounds like he is getting closer to being recalled and most likely taking DeVries spot in the rotation.
  10. 1) Justin Morneau hit two home runs in a game for the first time in I can't remember; he appears to be fully healthy, as I haven't heard anything about him having to take more than routine days off except for his injury, and he has come back from that extremely well. 2) Joe Mauer hit a home run to deep right center field 3) Morneau, Span, Casilla and Mauer all had at least 2 hits 4) We saw what we should be expecting from DeVries; gives up a lot of runs (hopefully not this many) and attacks the strike zone (He threw 96 pitches, 60 for strikes)
  11. Although, according to Moneyball, stealing isn't always worth it with the % of guys who get thrown out.
  12. The only rule change that I would like would be that teams could trade draft picks.
  13. There is no way the Twins trade Morneau with the salary he has coming to him the next two years (this year and next year). Span is the one that everyone can see the Twins trading for a good return.
  14. 1) It rarely happens that a pitcher throws over to first 9 times, and the occasion that you're talking about led to the Twins scoring several runs. 2) I wouldn't have a problem with them enforcing the 25 seconds between pitches rule either. 3) I wouldn't have a problem with having a LITTLE more instant replay, but if we add too much to the replay rules, it will slow the game down even more. 4) Takeout slides are frowned upon; just yesterday the Twins got a DP called because A.J. did a takeout slide on Dozier even though they only got one out, and home plate collisions are just part of the game.
  15. What happened to Waldrop? i thought that he was one of the Twins last cuts before ST ended because he was injured, and now he is #66?
  16. I know somebody that wanted to know what the AFW on the back of the mound at the White Sox field stood for. It stands for the initials of Walter's daughter that was born 14 weeks prematurely and died 51 days later
  17. Walters finishes off the game! Good Job for him!
  18. Wow, the Sux must be REALLY desperate to get something going if they are pinch hitting for Dunn
  19. And Hudson has fully gone to the dark side with a single off of Walters.
  20. Have you seen the Twins over the years? They don't always let the pitcher on cruise control finish the game. Can't think of specific examples, but I know it has happened.
  21. That's stamina for you, Walters is still able to throw a 91 mph fastball, and then he follows it up with a 78 mph slider. He then throws practically the same pitch sequence to Escobar, and induces another strikeout. Walters has only thrown 89 pitches; do the Twins let him come back out, or do they bring in a reliever?
  22. Our first look at O-Dog as a member of the Sux! )
  23. Walters has continued his effectiveness, as he has thrown only 79 pitches in 7 innings of pitching. He has only given up 3 hits, allowed only one run, struck out four, and walked two.
  24. After coming on for the extremely ineffective Floyd, Stewart has only allowed two baserunners and has three strikeouts. He has also only thrown 44 pitches in 3 1/3 innings, where Floyd threw 88 in 3 2/3. Hopefully, Stewart won't be available tomorrow, because after our breakout against Floyd he has shut us down.
  25. Ohh, Walters had better be careful, hitting someone after one of your guys was hit, and especially against a division rival, is just asking for trouble later...:|
