  1. That would cut his trade value in half... If Dozier played well in LF (not the most difficult position on the field unless your name is Grossman), it would double his trade value. Dozier has the speed and enough arm and athleticism to do it.
  2. Not very complicated. The question isn't whether to trade Dozier or not, but rather what to do with Dozier until the Twins receive an offer worth consideration. I'd move Dozier to LF next spring, install Polanco and Escobar as the everday 2B and SS, respectively and prioritize Gordon's development. Dozier can't be worse than Grossman defensively and he should continue to hit wherever he plays thus increasing his trade value. Why make an effort to trade Plouffe now when his value is down? A quick review of other MLB rosters yields a multitude of players the Twins traded prematurely, just to "move on." To move on where exactly? How'd that work out? It's easy to deceive oneself into thinking one is a master trader, but there's always someone on the other side who just might know more than you. Oftentimes, patience is underrated.
  3. Consider moving Dozier to LF before trading him.
  4. Wells looks to have a fairly smooth delivery based on the 2016 video I watched. Has to get a lot out of a small 5'8" frame. And Arraez hit two stand-up triples, one to left, another to right-center, in the 2016 video I watched. Both excel against 2016 competition and should move up.
  5. Can them all. Player development was poor in the minors, but once a player reached the majors, the Twins' staff did not get any improvement. Can them all.
  6. Trading Dozier sometime over the next 12 months makes sense if good value is offered and if Gordon continues to progress in AA next year. Polanco is not the long-term SS solution.
  7. I subscribe to the theory that a catcher only has so many games in him because of the physical demands of the position. Therefore, if the kid's making strides defensively (can he block a pitch in the dirt?), then I'm happy to have Garver share time in the minors so he can catch more games in the majors. Offensively, they've moved Garver around the field and kept him in the lineup to give him more ABs and develop his bat. I think that will pay off. Garver's one prospect who we seem to have developed well. And now Turner's starting to hit at 'Nooga now that Garver's in Rochester. Good for both of them.
  8. Correlation isn't causation. I watched Rosario lean across the plate to wave at what would've been ball four the other night. A defensive, traumatized hitter doesn't do that. One might look at MLB daily meal money allowances versus those in the minors and correlate increased meal money to increased strikeouts, i.e., Rosario got greedy as he progressed to MLB. BS, too.
  9. Try "Win it all" as a vision. I'm still wondering why TR chucked it in before the trade deadline. Did he take a couple deals up the ladder for approval and get squashed? Was he ready to deal prospects (or alternatively certain vets) and encounter disagreement? I'm thinking that while Antony may have the apparent authority to do deals, he may think long and hard before doing anything this year if he really wants serious consideration for the Twins GM job.
  10. Rob Antony would be the second coming of Bill Smith. There are a plethora of worthy candidates outside the Twins' organization, and the organization historically has returned employees' loyalty in kind. It's a good GM job. LaRussa had an impressive list of candidates for the D-backs' GM job awhile back, and I hope the Twins make a strong effort to measure their inside candidates against the outside ones.
  11. Granite should move up before seasons' end, and there's room for him next year in the majors.
  12. One buys low and sells high, not buy high and sell low. Trading Plouffe now would be a good example of the last. Trade Plouffe for exactly what? Just sit him and move Sano. Let him hit his way back, even play a bit of the OF. MLB rosters are FULL of players the Twins got rid of too soon. Anybody hear of Danny Valencia?
  13. I'd give the nod to Jay over LeBlanc because the former succeeded against tougher competition. I'd promote both.
  14. Baseball reporting isn't the sort of history of which Phil Graham spoke. And in any case, his reportage for the WaPo aimed to be correct. Graham welcomed proofreaders, and he had a thick enough skin and a desire to produce quality work that he welcomed proofreading. I regard TD as aspiring to be the best at doing what they do. Lighten up? C'mon; shoot higher. You don't get there by accepting mediocrity.
  15. He pursued a dual path to greatness, but was unexpectedly felled in a duel. I visit TD daily, but you guys need a proofreader.
  16. I've never understood why more split-squad games aren't scheduled early in Spring Training. I'm sure I'm missing something subtle here, but when you've got 60 or so guys in camp, why not double-track them?
  17. Anyone not make this list?
