  1. I don't think Buxton is faking it either. I have a running theory that both Buxton and Lewis always believe they are better physically than they are and never truly heal from their injuries. They end up coming back too early and getting reinjured right away. I'm not sure how the Sept 1st playoff deadline works. If Buxton can come back prior to Sept 1st, that would be enough for me. It does sound like they are taking it slow this time with Buxton. A week before he does any baseball activities is what I read and then go from there.
  2. We may see who is being sent down to make room for Minter. Fundy is warming up. I also don't think Kremer will join the rotation right away. I think he is in reserve for when they shut down Prielipp.
  3. Makes you wonder if they intend on shutting down Prielipp like the Nats did Strasburg and they don't trust Rojas to make the starts so he stays in the bullpen.
  4. He was listed as #24 in MLB preseason Twins prospect rankings. I think they needed to aim higher than Kremer. I'm not sure he is better than anyone currently starting.
  5. Yes, but your mileage may vary on how much you like the experience.
  6. Lee making plays because Gray got caught in the quicksand that is the SS position.
  7. D-Backs did beat Cleveland though. A win will pull us into a WC tie!
  8. That says more about the Mets farm system than whether it was a win for either team. Could eventually be a slight overpay in prospects by the Twins but overpays are the name of the game when you're searching for help and the store closes in 15 minutes. A good trade to help shore up a weakness on the team without breaking the farm system.
  9. IMO, this is the best argument to not be beholden to relievers that we have control of for future years. See Justin Topa as a cautionary tale. Our best multi-year relievers are always going to be the ones we can develop through our system. In Minter's case, his recent injury history and diminished fastball will not generate the same type of contract that he is currently on. He may be willing to come back at a reduced price for next year. I believe this is a good trade because this is what the good teams in our payroll level does. Take on short-term money while giving up a few prospects that they don't believe will impact the roster anytime soon. I'd like to think of it as keeping your powder dry.
  10. This is a good trade that the Twins made. This is the type of trade that the Rays make. A reasonable expiring contract for a solid bullpen piece also equals payroll flexibility, exactly what the Pohlads like in a signing or trade. The Mets get two prospects rated between 20-30 which both appear blocked anyways. This is the type of trade that using a farm system from a position of strength is for. Making the team better without sacrificing your future. I could be bummed if this is it, but it is a good start for the Zoll deadline. Fundy is probably the guy that gets sent down the Green Line to St. Paul. He still has options and is still available in case either Minter or Rogers go down. Since Minter doesn't have to report for 72 hours, I could see a scenario where he doesn't officially join the team until Saturday, thus they would pitch Fundy on Friday night before swapping him out for Minter on Saturday.
  11. Maybe Kody Clemens is our mysterious "Cash Considerations" guy. Have you ever seen Kody and Cash Considerations in the same room? 🤔
  12. @Church of Kreidler was working overtime today. It finally came through in the 9th. There may even be some white smoke emanating from the residence.
  13. Another piece of good news is that the Twins will arrive in Seattle before the Mariners. Seattle has to play a night game in LA against the Dodgers before coming home.
  14. "I went from being extremely pissed (...) to pure elation." - Derek Shelton in the postgame. We feel you Shelty, we really do.
  15. 🎵They're off to find the hero of the day...🎵 - Have a day Kody Clemens!
  16. Time to tear down that headstone again! Back to .500!
  17. I mean, with a corrupt government (regardless of party or affiliation), a little more corruption won't hurt, right?
  18. I don't. I'm not sure I have the mental fortitude to support more than one MN team at a time.
  19. Can't wait to get those bug specials at the T-Mobile Park concessions.
  20. I noticed that right away in the game. Lewis seemed to fumble the ball on the feed to Kreidler on a potential double play. I think he is a serviceable 2nd baseman if we need him in the lineup. His defense is definitely better at 1st base.
  21. Salvy's case may come down to who else will be on the ballot at the same time. If he is not voted in by the writers, I don't see him ever being voted in, especially when you compare him to some of the others that are currently not in the HOF. He won't have the numbers, even for a catcher, which allows for a lower threshold. HR and RBI's for a catcher will help him, but not much else.
  22. But that's on the lineup, not the pitcher. The pitcher still earned a quality start, which is one of the better metrics to measure a pitcher by.
  23. Interesting they gave the error to Clemens. Kreidler's misplay by not fielding the ball seemed to allow the run to score. Jensen stopped at 3rd until the ball got away from Kreidler.
  24. That may explain some of the swings in the box lately. Could also explain some of the routes being taken on defense.
